Matilda (1996)

Corrected entry: When Matilda is beginning to learn her powers, she has difficulty slamming the door in her father's face. When she finally does manage it, notice how easily she manages to lock the door.

Correction: Because she opened the flood gate, so to speak, by getting the door to slam.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Nigel "The Leg" Gruff is from Cardiff in South Wales, but has a strong North Wales accent. The North and South Wales accents are nothing alike.

Correction: He couldn't have moved to South Wales after growing up in North Wales?

The Replacements (2000)

Corrected entry: The sub-plot involving Nigel and the loanshark is completely bogus. In the final game against Dallas they want him to miss the field goal. However, Dallas would be the HEAVY favorites seeing as how the entire professional team has crossed the picket line for the game. There is NO REASON for him to miss the field goal, because Dallas would be who everyone is betting on. For the loansharks to make a big score they need Washington to win that game so they sure wouldn't want him to miss that field goal.

Correction: Throughout the movie the replacement players are shown to gain popularity with their team's fans. The loan shark who threatens Nigel is probably dealing almost exclusively with these fans (who are certain to place their bets against Dallas) for this particular game.

Phixius

Does that mean Nigel is still gonna lose the bar?

Corrected entry: Roach sets off a trap which sends "Prince" sliding through a giant slide to the kitchen. That is almost impossible for Roach to build a perfect slide through the house into a drawer in the kitchen - wouldn't the parents notice it?

Correction: Apparantly not.

War of the Worlds (2005)

Corrected entry: When Tom Cruise exits his ex-wife's house where the plane has crashed, you see one of the rotors turning slowly. The plane crashed late the night before, that rotor would surely have stopped turning by now. It didn't look like it was that windy outside and even if it was; it would take a big gust of wind to keep it turning.

Correction: Turbines have a lot of kinetic energy. Inertia alone could easily have kept it spinning for hours. A lot of wind would be required to start it turning, but if it was already in motion the wind speed could be substantially less and still have a noticeable effect.

The Covenant (2006)

Corrected entry: When the two guys are in the wooden barn place, they seem to have an echo every time they talk, wood cannot create an echo especially when there are a lot of gaps in the walls.

Correction: Wood can create an echo. And there may be more in their environment creating the echo than just the wooden walls.

What Women Want (2000)

Corrected entry: J.M. Perkins, M.A, M.F.C.C is a marriage and family counselor with a Master's Degree, not "Doctor Perkins" (00:46:30)

Correction: "Doctor" could be a sort of nickname in this case.

Walk the Line (2005)

Corrected entry: How come at a time when Johnny Cash doesn't have enough money to pay his telephone bill, he's able to buy a house?

Correction: Because paying a telephone bill requires money "in hand," which he didn't have. Whereas buying a house is generally done with a loan; which many a bank may have been happy to give to the famous Johnny Cash.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Corrected entry: In the scene where the toys are in the pet carrier at the airport, they pick the pet carrier up slightly and walk. They never remove the bottom, and I've never seen a pet carrier without one.

Correction: But I have seen a pet cage with holes in the floor.

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Corrected entry: When the toys are on the top of the elevator, they get off at a vent on the 23rd floor. When they reach the other end of the vent, they are near the floor of Al's apartment. For the top of the elevator to be on the bottom of the 23rd floor, it would have to be going to the 22nd floor. This is not the case because the toys get back on the top of the elevator later as Al gets in on the 23rd floor.

Correction: If they entered a vent near the ceiling, and the venting angled or turned downward, they would come out near the floor. This is what must have happened.

Hook (1991)

Corrected entry: When the lost boys are training Peter, they have Peter lifting 2 little boys in a bench press kind of motion. The two little boys are on seats attached to ropes that are attached to a stick that Peter is lifting up and down. The up and down motion of the little boys is not correct. When Peter brings the stick towards him, the boys should go up and when Peter lets the stick rise up, the boys should go down.

Emily

Correction: There is a simple pulley system at work that allows this contraption to accurately duplicate a real bench press, i.e. the weight is lifted, not pulled.

Tremors (1990)

Corrected entry: Val runs to save Mindy who is jumping on her pogo stick. When he snatches her off of it, the pogostick stays standing completly upright. The camera cuts to Val, Mindy and Mindy's mom. They have a bit of dialogue. It cuts back to the pogostick that's standing straight up, and the graboid sucks it into the ground. It would have had to have been standing for around 5 seconds before the graboid got to it, on its end and unsupported. (00:47:55)

RJR99SS

Correction: Not impossible. Seen it happen.

Corrected entry: When the DeLorean is destroyed by the train at the end, why does the train smash through it, instead of just pushing it back down the tracks? Even if Marty had put on a parking brake (which we don't see him doing) it doesn't seem like it would be strong enough to withstand the force of the train. Even cars that are sitting perpendicularly on railroad tracks get pushed along by fast-moving trains, so why not a car that's specially designed to move on the tracks?

Krista

Correction: There's no telling what structural changes Doc had to make to turn the car into a time machine. Doc even says in Part II that Biff's car would "tear through [the DeLorean] like tinfoil." If a Ford would do that, I think the train's damage was about right.

Ultraviolet (2006)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Violet's hologram confronted Daxus with dozens of soldiers in black lined up behind him, they start to shoot at her after she said "come and get it". As Daxus approached the hologram and the black car, wouldn't he himself be in the line of fire? Perhaps the soldiers' shooting is pretty accurate but how about the ones directly behind him, parallel to the car?

Correction: It would seem anyone at risk of shooting Daxus wasn't firing their weapon while he was in their line of fire.

Hook (1991)

Corrected entry: When Robin Williams arrives too late at the baseball field to see his son play at the beginning, he is upset when he climbs up the little hill and then suddenly sees an empty field. This is a reaction a little too late, as the access road (which you can see from standing on the little hill) to the field is on the far right from his view. On driving in he would have spotted an empty field straight away from his car.

Correction: Unless he was on the phone, as per usual, and not paying attention to his less immediate surroundings.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the scene where Fern and his companion are looking out onto the courtyard from his balcony, the fountains are glowing from under the water. I would really like to know how that is done, considering that fire is the only light source available in this time period. (01:34:30)

Correction: A candle behind (or under) a small pane of glass would do the trick.

Armageddon (1998)

Corrected entry: It took approximately 18 hours from the time Harry and Grace left the oil rig until they decided to help save the Earth. How did his entire crew have time to become scattered across the US? AJ even had time to start his own oil company.

Correction: The crew came from all over the country so it seems natural they'd want to go home during their break. Commercial airlines provided the means to get where they were going. AJ probably bought an existing rig, and just put up a sign. Doesn't mean the deal is finalized yet.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Wendy says that the "hydraulics will rupture" when she's freaking out. If her vision ended after she was falling from the car then how would she know what the reason for the accident was unless she knew how roller coasters worked which is doubtful for an average high school teenager. (01:19:30)

zephalis

Correction: I was eighth out of thirty six in my graduating class. GPA of 3.27; relatively average. I knew how roller coasters work.

The Black Hole (1979)

Corrected entry: When the Cygnus is heavily damaged by the meteor storm, a lot of the areas which the survivors of the Palomino cross in their flight are open to the vacuum of outer space - how comes that there is no decompression (except maybe in the greenhouse), not to mention a lack of oxygen?

Correction: The novelization by Alan Dean Foster mentions that the null-g field, which keeps the Cygnus from being pulled into the black hole, also provides protection from the vacuum of space.

The Skeleton Key (2005)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Caroline tries to escape from the houdoo house via tiny rowboat, she finds the boat right-side-up on the grass (like a bowl). Throughout the movie it rained constantly but there wasn't any water at the bottom of the boat. Also, the heavy rainstorms would have caused the water level in the lake to rise and possibly carry the rowboat off, since it was not tied up and inches from the shore.

Correction: This film takes place in an area that is very marshy. The ground soaks up water like a sponge. This would have prevented the lake from rising significantly. Also, most small boats have a hole in the bottom that allows water to drain out. The plug must not have been in place during the rainstorm.
