Born This Way - S2-E18

Corrected entry: The posters that Lauren puts up of Quinn's former appearance say "Vote for Lucy Caboosey" on them, yet Quinn only told Lauren she used to be called 'Lucy Caboosey' about 5 minutes earlier.

Correction: Lauren is very explicit about the level of research she did. She obviously talked to some of Quinn's former classmates, who naturally revealed Quinn's onetime nickname. None of what Quinn said was news to Lauren.

Preggers - S1-E4

Corrected entry: When the football team is dancing during the game, they cross the scrimmage line, and would actually be counted as a foul and should have been stopped by officials immediately.

Correction: Should have yes, but officials make mistakes all the time, even NFL level officials. This time, everyone was so dumbstruck to see the dancing at all that no one noticed they'd crossed the line.

Hancock (2008)

Corrected entry: Throughout the film stationary, unoccupied cars are hit with debris, other cars, fridges, superheroes, and are turned upside down, knocked around or thrown sideways. Not one single car alarm goes off.

Correction: Not a lot of people bother with car alarms anymore because no one pays them any attention. They're just nuisances as far as most folks are concerned. Many cars still come with an alarm that goes off if someone tries to manually unlock a car that has been locked by remote, but that would not be activated by debris impacting the vehicle. There is too much speculation for this to qualify as a legitimate mistake.

Phixius

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, the boys wonder if Chris will acknowledge them in High School since she is a Senior(4th yr) and they are Freshman(1st yr). Earlier in the movie, the kids ages were established as 15 for the boys and 17 for Chris. So they should be 2yrs apart in school, not 3yrs.

Sangie

Correction: Depends on when their birthdays are. My son was a year older, numerically, than everyone else in his class because his birthday is at the end of the summer, just before the school year starts. 15 year olds could be three grades behind a 17 year old for this (or the opposite) reason, among others.

The Karate Kid (2010)

Corrected entry: Dre's white uniform never picks up any stains during the tournament. Sweat is rolling down his forehead, but there are no sweat stains on his jacket. He also keeps rolling and twisting on the mat, but again, no stains ever appear on his jacket.

Twotall

Correction: Sweat doesn't stain until it dries. If you mean wet spots, then it's simply explained by breathable fabric. The moisture is absorbed then quickly evaporates. A lot of athletic apparel is made from this type of material.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the scene where Edward & Victoria are fighting, Riley has his hand bitten off by the wolf, yet when Victoria has both her hands around Edwards neck to try and kill him, Riley has hold of both Edwards arms behind his back. How can someone without a hand restrain someone?'

loopylou992

Correction: By hooking his elbows around Edward's arms and then grasping his own forearm with his remaining hand. Pretty common joint lock actually; it's pretty simple to break someone's grip, but a lot harder to break their arms. He probably would have done it that way even with two hands.

Wall-E (2008)

Corrected entry: At the end of the film when EVE is repairing Wall-e she takes out his old burned board and replaces it with a new one. Later when they hold hands she comes close and electrocutes him and his memory is back. How is that possible when his central processor (board) is burned and gone? The song that EVE tries to play on him is gone, but not his memory. It doesn't make any sense.

dux

Correction: Whatever anomaly that gave WALL-E his personality, even though he's not meant to be either virtually or artificially intelligent, allowed him to retain his memories.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Barbossa and Captain Jack Sparrow have been captured by the Spaniards and are each tied to a tree. Barbossa removes his wooden leg and lifts it high above his face in order to drink the liquid (presumably rum) that was concealed in the hollow top. Captain Jack then takes the wooden leg and holds it under his lips. He tilts it very slightly, then smacks his lips, but there is no way he could have gotten any rum from it in that position.

Correction: Why not? Just because Barbossa tipped it high doesn't mean his mouth was wide open to let the liquid freely pour in. It could still have been full enough for Jack to trickle a bit of rum into his mouth; just enough to steel him for what he was about to attempt.

Phixius

Correction: It makes for a good joke over at The Editing Room, but it's not movie trivia.

Tangled (2010)

Corrected entry: In the pub, after the Stabbington Brothers knock out the solitary guard who was left in charge of them, they set each other free by cutting their chains each in half. At that point, the shackles remain on their wrists, but for the rest of the movie those shackles disappear. (01:40:05)

Correction: They used what was available to get the chains cut, then some time later, off camera, managed a way to get the shackles off too.

The Karate Kid (1984)

Corrected entry: When Daniel plays the Joke on Johnny in the bathroom at the school dance he runs out of the bathroom before Johnny knows who it is but yet Johnny runs right past the kid dressed as spider man and out of the bathroom. How did he know it wasn't the kid who was dressed as Spider Man who sprayed him with water?

sunday33

Correction: These people all go to school together, they know each other well. Johnny knows that "Spider-Man" wouldn't have done something like that to him. Either out of fear or friendship, we don't know. Most people at that school would fit into either of those categories as Johnny is an extremely aggressive bully. Only Daniel, the new kid, would have had the nerve to do something like that.

Phixius

Correction: And the kid dressed as Spider man goes to cobra kai.

Wall-E (2008)

Corrected entry: When Wall-e shows the plant to EVE, in space, it should have disintegrated because it contains fluids which evaporate in space (even in such a small period of time).

dux

Correction: "Contained" being the operative word here. The cellular walls of the plant prevented the fluids from evaporating, just like the cellular walls of a human being's dermal layer of skin keep the fluid in his or her cells from evaporating in space.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the 'guns are better than swords' scene when Indy is filmed from behind as he faces the swordsman he is not wearing a holster. But after shooting the swordsman he puts the gun in the visible holster.

Correction: The holster is there the whole time. You can see it while he is running just before the swordsman appears. Indy's shirt has come untucked a bit on his right side, so when he's not running around the shirt hangs directly over his holster. This is why you can't see it during this sequence until he lifts the bottom of his shirt aside, draws, and fires.

Point Break (1991)

Corrected entry: When Keanu Reeves and his partner are collecting hair samples for forensic comparisons, isn't it the way they do so a little illegal? I think they'd need the person's permission or at least a warrant.

dizzyd

Correction: Police do things like that all the time. It's not right, but copying reality certainly isn't a movie mistake.

The Langoliers (1995)

Corrected entry: The overhead signs posted at each of the planes exits are boldly marked in English AND Japanese. While the characters (de guchi) do translate to 'exit', it is out of place on an American commercial plane.

dokuhaku

Correction: Apparently this airline has enough customers flying to and from Japan that they felt the need to put the signs in place. Many American facilities have signs posted in multiple languages. There's nothing 'out of place' about them.

Batman Forever (1995)

Corrected entry: When Two Face shoots Bruce, Two Face is to Bruce's right. There are two mistakes here; not only does Two Face somehow hit the left side of Bruce's forehead, but Bruce recoils as though he were hit on the right.

virtual-toast

Correction: They are in opposite corners of the room, each to the left of the other. Bruce is on the stairs, near a doorway into another room. To his right is a wall, so Two-Face cannot be to Bruce's right. Bruce turns and faces slightly to the viewer's left, which means his left side is visible to us. Two-Face holds the gun with his right hand, and aims diagonally across his body to the left, meaning Bruce is to Two-Face's left. Bruce spins to his right, aways from the camera, because the bullet came from his left, and the wound is on his left when we see him at the bottom of the stairs. There is no mistake.

Phixius

Corrected entry: When the turtles travel through time they switch clothes with the other people they are switching with. But, if they are totally switching clothes. Why do they still have head bands on?

Correction: The same reason Kenshen kept his sword, April kept her Walkman, and three of the Honor Guard kept their 'underwear'. It's not explained in the film how or why, but it's shown to have been done repeatedly and deliberately. Not having an explanation does not make it a mistake.

Phixius

Not having an explanation, it does not make sense. Like with the absurdity of English being widely known is explained with reasons that don't hold up to scrutiny, the movie goes out of its way to 'explain' magic with 'rules' that then are violated whenever it's convenient. It would be deliberate if the contradictions made some sort of sense, not when it sneaks in constant arbitrary contradictions.

Sammo

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the film, Robin climbs on to the catapult, followed by Azeem, who moves his sword as though putting it in a sheath, but you can clearly see he either misses or there is no sheath, and so he just holds it there. When the two are catapulted in the next shot, both of Azeem's hands can be seen flailing and the sword can be seen fixed at his waist.

Correction: There's no sheath, but the sword is in his belt. He simply rests his hand on it, he's not holding it in place.

Tropic Thunder (2008)

Corrected entry: In the scene when Grossman answers the call from the Flaming Dragons, they simply push the send button and the phone goes straight to speaker phone. On this model Blackberry, you have to push two more buttons after the send button to get to speaker phone. (01:01:35)

javier santos

Correction: First, one button press will do, not two. Second, there's an app available that allows you to set your phone to answer calls in speaker phone by default.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Because Michelangelo has a pair of nunchaku, BBFC policy at the time of the original release in 1990, was to edit out scenes involving the use of chain sticks because it was feared they could be imitated, so the film was cut for this reason. These cuts were rescinded by the BBFC for its recent re-release in cinemas.

Correction: You can imitate a bo staff much easier than you can imitate a nunchuku but they didn't cut that out. The scenes were edited because, in British culture, nunchuku are perceived to be excessively violent weapons (in the British version of the cartoon, Michelangelo used a grappling hook).
