The Prestige (2006)

Corrected entry: Cutter knows about Angier drowning his clones and even helps him with the 'trick' by preventing Borden from smashing the tank. Why, then, is Cutter so shocked to see Angier alive after he comes home from the jail?

Correction: Cutter does not know about Angier drowning the duplicates. Angier makes sure Cutter doesn't know by telling him he needs his help "out front" to keep him away from the backstage area when his duplicates are drowned. Cutter honestly thought Borden had set the tank up to drown Angier and, upon seeing Angier already dead, Cutter stopped Borden from making a huge mess.

Cassandra - S8-E4

Corrected entry: Cassandra is a computer that can predict the future with 100% accuracy, so why then does she try to change the future (by lying to Rimmer about him sleeping with Kochanski so Lister will kill him) when she knows that she won't be successful?

Correction: She was eager enough to make it happen that she figured it was worth a shot anyway.

A Knight's Tale (2001)

Corrected entry: Before one joust, the characters discover that William is about to fight "the Black Prince of Wales, the future King of England." While he was an actual historical figure, the Black Prince wasn't given his nickname until 200 years after his death.

Krista

Correction: The song "We Will Rock You" by Queen hadn't been written yet either, yet the peasants are shown to be dancing and singing along with the song. This is a highly fictionalized version of history. So there is no reason why the Black Prince couldn't have had his nickname a little earlier in this fantasy world.

Sahara (2005)

Corrected entry: When the boys land at the bottom of the hill under the truck bed, there is a wide shot. If you look closely in front of them, there is an object in the sand. This is the skeleton of Kitty Mannock who was in the plane that crashed. In a deleted scene they notice and examine the skeleton. The producers didn't take it out of the shot.

Correction: This is trivia, not a mistake. There's no reason that the skeleton should have been taken out, and there's no reason the boys absolutely *had* to examine it, which is why the scene was removed.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Near beginning of movie, co-worker asks Harold what 67 times 453 is. Harold couldn't concentrate because of "the voice" and quickly answered 30,351. "The voice" then says, ".despite the answer really being 31,305." Harold then corrects himself with his co-workers, telling them the "real" answer of 31,305. The answer is actually what Harold blurted out in the first place while unable to concentrate - 30,351. (Harold is supposed to be an "expert" at number problems.).

Correction: You said it yourself: Harold couldn't concentrate because of the voice. Not being in his right mind, he only corrected himself because the voice said he was wrong.

Phixius

Corrected entry: It is shown that the monkey still has a reaction to being shot, as it is thrown forward the first time it is shot. However later, when Captain Jack demonstrates to Tia that it is undead, it has almost no reaction except for backing away from the shot. When Captain Jack actually shoots it, nothing happens and he couldn't have misssed from that range.

Correction: The monkey was inside a cage. After it backed away from Jack's gun, it was against the bars of the cage. So there was nowhere for the monkey to be "thrown" by the force of the shot.

Corrected entry: My instructor brought this up in my psychology class. Brooks' suicide scene is completely unrealistic. The fall that resulted when he kicked the chair out from under him was nowhere near long enough to break his neck, therefore, he strangled to death. However, when one strangles to death by hanging, the limbs are flailing wildly and convulsions usually occur. Brooks' feet barely twitch.

Correction: Brooks was a very old man. His bones were very weak and brittle, as most geriatrics' bones are. This naturally occurring problem would have been augmented by the very poor nutrition he would have received while in prison. It is entirely plausible for a short fall such as this one to have resulted in a broken neck with this particular individual.

Corrected entry: In the camp scene, in the shot of Indy and Shorty playing a game of cards, right after Willie drops the bat and runs off screaming, Shorty drops one of the cards from his hand but never bother to pick it up. (00:32:35)

Correction: So? This is neither a movie mistake nor a character mistake. It's just a decision Short Round made; or rather, didn't make.

Corrected entry: When Fred's dad touches the ooze, he turns instantly into a zombie and once outside, headed for the quarry, is joined by other zombie mums and dads. This means that they all went home and touched the ooze at the same time, which is highly unlikely.

Correction: Angel Grove is a big city. Those other adults could have been walking down the road for hours; those are just the ones that happened to be walking by Fred's house when his dad touched the ooze.

Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Corrected entry: Why does the motorcycle cop let Harry and Lloyd go when they still have open beer bottles in the van? He doesn't even give Harry a ticket for speeding at the very least.

Correction: Well, the fact that the cop drank what he thought was an alcoholic beverage while on duty shows the nature of his character. Given this, it's not surprising that he would wave them along after drinking Lloyd's urine.

Casino Royale (2006)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Bond gives Vesper the kiss of life on top of the sunken building her chest does not inflate, showing he's not actually breathing into her.

Correction: The chest does not rise dramatically while mouth-to-mouth is being performed. If you blew hard enough to make it do so the air would just go into the stomach, where it would not do the patient any good. This scene is portrayed realistically.

Silent Hill (2006)

Corrected entry: When both Rose and Cybil first encounter one of Silent Hill's "eerie" residents, the walking acid vomiting zombie, both their radios and mobile phone react with static, as they do in the game. Yet they react at no other time when any other creatures are near.

Mad Ade

Correction: This is a discrepency between the mediums, not a film mistake. It is never stated *why* the phone reacts this way, so there is no requirement for it to do so every time.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the American edition, page 188, Slughorn says, "One tiny bottle of felix felicis is enough for twelve hours' luck. From dusk til' dawn, you will be lucky in everything you attempt." But then on page 476, Harry says, "I don't reckon I'll need all of it, not twenty-four hours' worth."

Correction: This is Harry's mistake, not Rowling's.

The Fifth Element (1997)

Corrected entry: When Korben breaks the police winch, it breaks the device off the mounting and pulls the entire thing out of the police car. The weakest part of the connection (and therefore the place where it would break) would not be the winch mounting but the hook and loop inside Korben's car, which aren't meant to take the strain that the winch mount would be required to. Imagine if this happened every time a subject bolted - that's a lot of winches to replace and reinstall. (00:36:20)

Phoenix

Correction: But the winch mount *did* break; and, since there are numerous plausible explanations for why, this fact cannot be considered a mistake. Most likely, this particular winch had simply been put under too much strain for too long without proper maintenance.

Arachnophobia (1990)

Corrected entry: When Jeff Daniels is in bed and he thinks he sees a spider on the wall across from him but it turns out just to be a clothes peg, look carefully, they did use a fake spider then swapped it with a peg. The easiest way to tell is because the top left leg disappears when he gets closer to the spider.

Correction: The first shot with the spider is a "perspective" shot. It's what Dr. Jennings sees, not what's actually there.

X-Men 3 (2006)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Jean and Magneto are overlooking the camp of mutants, Magneto talks to Jean about her powers. He holds up the weapon with the antidote and says he can only control metal then levitates the weapon. The weapon was supposed to be made of plastic as revealed later in the movie. The alternate scene shows him levitating a metal mug instead which made sense with his line.

Correction: *That* particular weapon had metal in it. It was taken from one of the guards on the transport vehicle. Since Magneto was not one of their prisoners, they'd have no reason to carry metal free weapons.

Silent Hill (2006)

Corrected entry: Rose's mobile phone remains unblemished throughout the whole movie, despite at one point all of Rose's top under her cardigan being covered in blood.

Correction: The phone is plastic. Plastic wipes clean pretty easily. Just because we don't see her do it, does not mean she doesn't.

Phixius

Corrected entry: When Roger bursts through Maroon's window blind, he leaves behind a clean outline of his body shape in it, However look at the section of blind between his legs in the outline. They are magically floating in mid-air as they are not attached to the blind's drawstrings either side.

Correction: This is an extremely common cartoon gag, and being a cartoon, Roger has the ability to effect his environment (animated or not) in such a way. Just like he can slip out of real handcuffs, but only when it's funny. Otherwise he and they are bound to the laws of physics.

Phixius

Correction: While he can go through the window, it doesn't affect the physics of real world things for long. As for the handcuffs, he can probably slip out by bending his hand in ways that make it easy to slip out.

The Patriot (2000)

Corrected entry: When the church is burned down and Anne is inside, the congregation is burned to death. Then, when they find the necklace that was given to Anne, it is still attached to the string. How could a ribbon and metal charm still be in good shape if the fire burned down the church?

Correction: Since it wasn't around the neck of Anne's body, we can assume that it fell off and then most likely got kicked by the panicked crowd into an area that didn't get as much fire damage.

Phixius

Correction: Possibly this could be explained by the fact that the British army never burned a church with people inside. While the British army did commit atrocities in North America during the war, but they never went as far as to deliberately incinerate civilians in a church.

They tried to, but after they left the town, it started raining, so the fire was put out.

Shrek 2 (2004)

Corrected entry: Given that the Fairy Godmother can create potions that make people beautiful and healthy, why would she need to go on a diet?

Moose

Correction: There are a few possible explanations. For one, it is not uncommon in fairy tales for magical creatures to be unable to use their own magic to aide themselves. Another could be in the nature of her potions. Perhaps she is simply immune to them, being a magical creature, or perhaps they only work if you genuinely believe they will. This is also a common theme in fairy tales. Knowing the standard, everyday ingredients they contain may prevent her from believing they could work on her.
