Return of the Nanobots - S2-E6

Corrected entry: Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen are in Jimmy's lab. On the screen in Jimmy's lab it says "Detecting Life Forms". The screen shows that there are no life forms on Earth. If the nanobots only delete humans, and we know that Jimmy, Carl, Sheen, Hugh, plants and animals are still on the Earth, then why aren't they detected?

Correction: Jimmy had the computer scan for humans. Obviously Jimmy's aware of his own existence and that of the friends in the room with him, so the computer wasn't instructed to figure them into its results. The program was telling Jimmy that there were no detected life forms of the type specified by Jimmy.

Big Fish (2003)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Edward Bloom is about to parachute out of an airplane on his secret mission, he checks his watch, which is a Hamilton Khaki. This line of watches by Hamilton wasn't introduced until the early 1990s.

Correction: The young girl he meets in Spectre is also shown to be an old woman during his childhood. Chronological idiosyncrasies are a natural part of Ed's embellished stories.

I Am Legend (2007)

Corrected entry: There's just been a major zombie outbreak but humanity don't seem to have put up much of a fight as there's no sign of struggle anywhere (Smashed glass, abandoned barricades, spent bullets etc.).

Correction: There was no one to struggle. It started as an airborne disease.

Phixius

Corrected entry: Professor Ox is talking Mayan in the temple in Peru. In the Peruvian jungle, they speak Aymara. Mayan was spoken in Mexico, Guatemala and all Mayan countries. Also, the stone temple shown in the Amazon was made by Mayans in such countries, not like the ones made by Incas in Peru.

Correction: He is speaking to an inter-dimensional being, not a Peruvian. The aliens traveled all over the world, as noted by their collection of artifacts. The alien language appears to be the source from which the Mayan language evolved. And since the temple was built as per the instructions of the aliens, it isn't a mistake to find a temple that doesn't look like the others in the area. It seems the Mayan architecture as well was heavily influenced by their visit from the aliens.

Phixius

Corrected entry: After Indiana Jones has run the staff car containing Belloq, Toht, et al, off the road to Cairo with the truck, look at the driver of the staff car- he immediately anticipates Paul Freeman (Belloq) striking him two seconds before Freeman actually does by covering his head to protect himself from Freeman's hit.

Correction: The driver knows what kind of man Belloq is. He knows Belloq will blame him for what had just happened. It's entirely reasonable he'd brace himself for what he assumes is coming.

Corrected entry: In the opening sequence, it's laughably unlikely that a few border guards are the only resistance that Spalko's troops would encounter when intruding such a highly sensitive military facility.

Correction: Normally no, that wouldn't happen. But as the guard explains, the entire area has been evacuated for testing (the bomb that goes off later). This is why there is a bare minimum of guards securing the gate, and presumably precisely why they chose this moment to attack.

Fallen (1998)

Corrected entry: There is a scene in which Denzel Washington is required to shoot a person on a city street who is possessed by a demon. Washingon uses a Glock pistol and fires only one shot. In the scene it is clear after the shot is fired that the gun's slide is in the locked back position (this only happens after the last round is fired. A Glock typically holds between 8-15 rounds). In the next frame, while Denzel is still holding the gun in the shooting position, we see that the slide has been moved forward. (01:17:00)

Correction: Hobbes moved it. There's even a sound effect in the movie for this.

Fallen (1998)

Corrected entry: Hobbes types "February 11, 1966" into the search engine and is taken to the front page of the "Chronicle" newspaper. The date on the page is a bit hard to read, but it definitely says 'Wednesday'. In 1966, Feb 11 was a Friday. (00:22:40)

jle

Correction: The article wasn't printed on February 11, 1966, but it mentions that date. That's why the search engine got a hit for that site. It was probably an article printed Wednesday, February 16 about events that took place on the preceding Friday.

Epic Movie (2007)

Corrected entry: When Magneto opens the locker door and smacks Peter, we can see that the lock is still on the door. How can the door open if it's locked?

Brad

Correction: Magneto can control metal. He bent the catch on the locker door, which would render the lock useless.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film you can see a bouquet of flowers, possibly the bridal bouquet. Included is a Phalaenopsis orchid, this is a plant from Malaysia and wouid not be discovered until about 200 years after the film is set. Even if somebody from that area knew about it anyway, which isn't unreasonable, one would not show up in a bouquet in the Caribbean.

Correction: Jack's been to Singapore. That's in Malaysia. If it's not unreasonable that someone could know about the flower, why is it impossible for it to be in the Caribbean? If Jack can make the trip, any trader can.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie, Indy is pulled out of a trunk. On a top down shot, we see his hat resting at an arm's length from his body (he's flat on his face). in the next shot, upon getting up, he has to walk 3 steps to reach it.

Correction: So he got up in such a way that he ended up planting his feet nearer to his hat than they were when he was sprawled out. Try it, it's a pretty natural way to get up from that position.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the bar scene, right after the discussion about putting jelly on a lady, one of the guys starts to tell a joke. The problem is, Ricky and Cal start laughing very loud before the guy even says the second fourth of the joke. I couldn't even hear what he said because Ricky and Cal were laughing so hard. How could they react to the joke if it hadn't even been told yet?

Correction: They must have heard the joke before and thought it was a good one. Not uncommon.

Phixius

Corrected entry: When the kraken first attacks the Black Pearl, the tentacles slither up the ship. The camera goes underwater a few times in this shot, showing that the tentacles were not animated underwater.

Correction: True, we can't see the tentacles underwater, but we can't see the ship either. The water is just too cloudy to see that far away.

Phixius

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film, on board the ship which discovers young Will Turner, Governor Swann is wearing a suit/costume that more than resembles that of Captain Hook's from the Disney made Peter Pan movie. Even his hair is almost the same.

Correction: The costumes are from the same era, so some resemblances are unavoidable, but not the makings of film trivia.

Phixius

Corrected entry: At the very beginning of the film, Jones arrives at the temple with two companions. He leaves in a biplane, which is waiting for him on a nearby river. The biplane has only two seats. How were his companions going to get out of the area, which is swarming with hostile natives? Swim?

Correction: They are never shown arriving together, so who says they did? They just worked together. Apparently, each person arranged for their own transportation in and out of the jungle. Indy's was at the ready, the others' was not. And how were they to know that hostile natives would be so pressing a concern upon leaving?

Phixius

Corrected entry: Gates' ending remarks at the conference referencing the South not only being able to continue the war, but win it with a new financial source, is complete bushwa. Once Lee had surrendered, his men were more than happy to go home to their families. What would the rebels do, buy mercenaries?

Correction: If the soldiers getting paid vast amounts of money to continue fighting makes them mercenaries, then yes, the rebels would do precisely that.

Phixius

Corrected entry: The journey to the temple at the film's start has taken some time, as evidenced by the presence of guides and pack animals, and Satipo's fear that the poisoned dart means they are being followed - yet when escaping the natives, Indiana Jones returns to his transport after only a brief run.

Correction: Wrong turns, twisting paths, perhaps even starting off in the wrong direction; all these things could mean days in the jungle when their goal turns out to be only a few hundred yards away from where they started. Just because they've been searching the jungle for a long time does not mean they actually wound up too terribly far from where they first arrived.

Iron Man (2008)

Corrected entry: The first time he flies and lands on the roof, he goes through the bedroom, living room, then the garage. Then, later when he goes to save Pepper, he flies directly through the roof out of his garage.

Correction: The first time they show him going through the bedroom, living room, then the garage. Later they show him going through the the roof, then cut to him exiting the garage. They just didn't show the other rooms to save time. There's no point: it's already been shown, we know where he passes through on his way out.

Iron Man (2008)

Corrected entry: During the scene where Tony finally successfully flies in the garage. One of the robotic arms has a camera on it. This camera is a Phantom brand high speed camera. All of these cameras only have connections for power and video in the back of the camera, but there is nothing connected to it.

Correction: He's just built a flying armored robotic suit which, when finished, ends up armed to the gills with advanced weaponry and technology. I think a comparatively simple modification to a camera isn't out of the question.

Phixius

Corrected entry: The treehouse tree, in reality would not go up and down when the rope goes back and forth, but would collapse anyway.

Correction: It is a visual gag in a cartoon and is not expected to reflect realism.
