Continuity mistake: When Stanley is in the cafeteria for the first time, he walks over to the counter to get his food and he has a cup on his tray, when there is a close-up of his tray, the cup is gone. (00:13:00)

Continuity mistake: When the tent D boys find the cloud in the sky, we see a shot of the cloud, the camera goes back to the boys and then back to the cloud. The problem is the cloud looks different in these two shots, even though the two shots were only seconds apart. (00:37:30)

Continuity mistake: When we see the flashback of Stanley's trial, we first see Stanley in a blue buttoned-down shirt. The camera goes to Clyde and when it goes back to Stanley he is in a dark-gray suit. (00:14:15)

Other mistake: Inman yells at the escaping slaves because he wants to buy an egg, and then spits blood from his throat afterward and we can tell that it hurts him to speak but then we see him in the swamp and he yells at the minister, but his voice does not crack and it doesn't seem to hurt him. Then when they are escaping in the ferry, he rubs his throat from talking. It should have hurt his throat badly when he yells "I should have shot you." but his throat seems fine.

Continuity mistake: When Inman first lays down next to Sara, his (right shoulder to us) is on top of Sara's (left shoulder to us), then it shows Sara take Inman's hand, and in the next shot, their shoulders are side by side.

Continuity mistake: When Sara rests her head on Inman's chest, Inman's right hand is down by his side. The angle changes and his hand is on her shoulder.

Continuity mistake: We see Oakley on a stretcher after the battle in the crater and he is talking to Inman, and then we see him in a tent (before he dies) asking Mr. Thewes to play him "something sweet". In these two scenes, the blood and mud on Oakley changes entirely. There is no reason it should change in such a short interval.

Continuity mistake: When Ada and her father first are seen in Cold Mountain, Ada is talking to Sally and Ada's bow that ties her bonnet differs in various shots.

Continuity mistake: After Mark has been bullied, we see the bullies walk away and do their handshake, but in the very next shot (from a different angle) they do their handshake again. (00:43:35)
