Corrected entry: After Gandalf sends away the moth the camera plunges down the side of Orthanc Tower into one of the pits where orcs are making swords. In this continuous shot the crane suddenly swings around from a paused state, much like unpausing a video. (Since the crane moves at constant speed, it cannot have suddenly accelerated from rest.) If stepping frame by frame, it is evident that the shot is composed of many layers beneath the Orthanc miniature: the orc walking across the bridge, the crane that starts swinging and the orcs making swords. The last of these layers starts the action a few frames after the crane has started moving. Note that the time code applies to the first disc of the Extended Version DVD set. (01:13:20)

Correction: If you have to go frame-by-frame to see it, it is not a movie mistake as by the rules of this site. Only what is visible in regular viewing can be considered genuine mistakes, as that is how the director and the public would see the movie.

Twotall

Corrected entry: When Arwen is fleeing from the Nazgul, she's pulling back on the reins, which is what you do if you're trying to slow a horse down, not if you're trying to spur it on to outrun pursuers. Can't be a different system to ours - it's got a bit in its mouth, so pulling on the reigns will inhibit forward movement and cause pain, slowing it down.

Correction: Character decision, not a movie mistake. Arwen could be trying to slow down for a second to look around for an escape route, something that is hard to do at high speeds.

Twotall

Corrected entry: In some of the Nazgul shots such as the ones from Bree after they stomp down the door and are riding into town or after they realize they had been stabbing pillows with their blades, you can see the covering several of the Ringwraiths use to hide their faces. The light makes the covering appear lighter than the black of their cloaks. (00:55:15 - 00:56:15)

Correction: There is nothing to say that the Ringwraiths don't actually wear some form of masks under their hoods. You never see any of them pull back their hoods, and when you see them in the Wraithworld, their outer trappings (cloaks and armor) are all gone. So this can be simply just another part of the Ringwraiths' clothing.

South Park (1997)

Correction: Character mistake, not a show mistake.

Twotall

Corrected entry: At the end of the film, Dumbledore announces to the school that Cedric Diggory was murdered by Voldemort. He wasn't, he was murdered by Wormtail, and Harry (who presumably gave them that information) knew that.

Moose

Correction: But since Voldemort ordered the killing of Cedric (and most likely would have killed Wormtail had he refused), he is ultimately responsible for Cedric's death. Besides, the workings of a group, such as the Death Eaters or the Nazis during WW2, are often attributed to its leader, even if they do not contribute actively themselves.

A Knight's Tale (2001)

Corrected entry: Roland (Mark Addy) tells Christiana (Jocelyn's handmaiden) that Will's tunic will be green, and he and the rest of the clan glare at the tent. However, the tunic Roland actually makes is not made out of the same material; it's green, but not the same pattern or anything.

jennibee

Correction: It is never stated specifically that they used the outer tent walls (which would most likely be too stiff and heavy) for the tunic. In the scene where Jocelyn visits "Ulrich" in his tent, we see that the inner walls of the tents are made from a softer and lighter fabric. It is possible they used this for the tunic.

Lost (2004)

Exodus (2) - S1-E24

Corrected entry: At the very end of the episode, when the passengers are boarding the doomed flight in a flashback, there is a shot of Sawyer walking down one of the aisles. If you look closely, you can see his bag bumps someone on the shoulder, and they turn around to glare at him. It's Sayid, sitting on the aisle seat of the left section of seats. However, not too long later, we see a shot of Sayid sitting down in 'his' seat, but he is now sitting on the aisle seat in the MIDDLE section of seats.

Correction: It is not impossible to switch seats in an airplane. Maybe Sayid was unhappy with his seat and asked a stewardess if it was possible to switch, or maybe he gave up his seat to someone who asked him (if they were travelling with a companion and were seated apart form each other, for instance).

King Kong (2005)

Corrected entry: The show where King Kong was being showed off at occurred at night according to the signs, however when King Kong gets to the top of the Empire State building the sun is coming up. We can tell it's not the sun going down because during the final scene the sun has fully come up. This means he must have been rampaging around the city for about 10 hours, even though the camera was with him the whole time.

Correction: Kong does more than rampage through New York. After Ann has come to him, he goes wandering off very quietly through the streets, before ending up in a park. And since the camera does NOT follow him around on this whole trip, we have no way of knowing for how long they simply walked around in the streets.

The Matrix (1999)

Corrected entry: When Neo is being lifted from the sewer into the ship by the grappling hook, you can see his right leg quickly move away from the edge of the hatch door just as he is entering the ship.

Correction: There is no reason why Neo should not move. He is not unconscious (yet), and even though his muscles are weak, he can still use them to some degree, for instance to pull in a leg that is about to be banged into a metal hatch.

Van Helsing (2004)

Corrected entry: When the coach is getting ready to take the Frankenstein monster to Rome, Anna says "Nothing is faster than Transylvanian horses - not even a werewolf." Yet during the coach journey, the werewolf attacks the coach. How could it have caught up with them? (I don't think the Brides could have carried it - carrying such a large and heavy creature would have slowed them down too much).

Correction: First off all, believing that the vampire brides were incapable of carrying a werewolf is pure speculation. In fact, earlier in the movie you can see them pick up a cow and throw it through the roof of a building with ease, so carrying a werewolf in human shape should be a breeze. Secondly, it is entirely possible that Anna is boasting when she talks about the speed of the horses. And thirdly, even if the Transilvanian horses are extremely fast normally, Van Helsing wanted Draculas minions to catch up with them - that's why he rigged a trap in one of the coaches. And if we were to start calculating the speed of six horses dragging a heavy coach with one extremely heavy passenger plus some luggage opposed to the speed of an unencumbered solitary werewolf... well, you get the point.

Copycat (1995)

Corrected entry: Isn't it strange that the cops never thought to look in the local sperm donor banks for their killer? They were totally baffled as to where he got two samples.

Correction: This is a typical character error. Fertility clinics would be the best place to start, but they most likely did not think that it would be so simple, seeing how much trouble Kurten went through to copy other people's crimes in minute detail.

Copycat (1995)

Corrected entry: At the start of the film when Sigourney tells all the white males in the audience to stand up, there is a fairly confused looking oriental guy in the middle of the frame standing up.

Correction: Character mistake, if anything. Like you say, he is fairly confused. Maybe he was not paying too much attention, or maybe he is half Caucasian and therefore not sure whether to stand up or not.

Stand By Me (1986)

Corrected entry: When Gordie accidentally shoots the garbage cans and he and Chris run away, they are well out of sight before the waitress comes outside. In the next shot Gordie says, "That Tupper babe saw me." First, how does he know who she is, and second, why does he think she's seen him if they were well around the corner?

Correction: He knows who she is because they live in a small town, where most people know each other by sight. And she did not necessarily see him, but Gordie is slightly panicky at this point and deathly afraid that she saw him with the gun, so he is just expressing his fear.

Twotall

Corrected entry: At the end, after Seth hands Kate the money, and before she drives away (how did she get the motorhome keys, anyway) the money is no longer in her hands. Does she drop it and refuse to take the stolen money, or is it just another continuity screw-up? (01:41:20)

Correction: When you see Seth start to pull out, Kate's hands are below the picture frame for a second just as her right shoulder makes a little twist. It is entirely possible that she dropped the money bundle then.

Corrected entry: When the war veteran is telling his Vietnam story to the remaining survivors, Sex Machine grabs him from behind and bites into his neck. Although if you look at the way everyone is standing there is NO WAY that he could get behind him without being seen by Seth, Jacob, Kate or Scott. (01:22:15)

Correction: Of course he was seen. They simply do not react to the sight of Sex Machine walking around in the bar because they do not know he is a vampire. He casually walks up behind Frost, keeping his mouth closed and his hands hidden, until he is shielded by Frost's body, before he lets the change take full effect.

King Kong (1976)

Corrected entry: Gorillas are excellent climbers, and Kong demonstrates this by shinning up the World Trade Centre with little trouble. The "Kong-proof" wall on Skull Island is barely taller than he could easily climb over it. When Dwan escapes to the village he wouldn't waste time and energy and risk injury smashing down that huge, solid door - he'd climb over the fence. (This applies to the classic 1930s film as well as this one.)

Correction: Yes, but why should he? There would be no reason for the vegetarian gorilla (Kong) to attack the villagers if they let him in peace as well. In addition to this, as mentioned in another correction, the wall was not made to keep out the giant apes, but the dinosaurs, big snakes and other animals living on the island.

Twotall

There is a reason for Kong to climb over the wall - Dwan has escaped, and he is obsessed with getting her back. It makes no sense for him to smash down that huge door when he could simply climb over the wall.

Corrected entry: At one point in the film, Tommy takes Jamie's baby to the hospital. At the front desk, he screams that the nurse should get him a doctor. The nurse calls security. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but escorting a man out by armed guards isn't normal procedure in the case of a man with a potentially endangered baby. The first step should have been getting care for the child.

Correction: Character decision, not a movie mistake. People deviate from "normal procedure" all the time, which is understandable when they get frightened and have to make quick decisions on what to do.

Twotall

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie Michael impales the nurse onto the wall as Jamie escapes. The next time we see Michael, as he walks out of the underground area, he is clearly holding a knife. Then, the next time we see him he snaps the guy's neck. Where did the knife go?

Correction: Just because Michael chooses to use his hands and not the knife on his next victim, it does not make it a movie mistake.

Twotall

Corrected entry: Near the end of the movie, the robot child David blows out the candles of the cake he baked with his mother, recently cloned by the "aliens". The fact that David has no lungs is made clear earlier in the film when he needs surgery after eating. (02:14:15)

Correction: So what? He is made to perfectly imitate human behaviour and bodily functions, including breath. A small nozzle in the back of his throat (for instance) would enable him to blow air out of his mouth, if he wanted to.

Twotall

Corrected entry: The dragon that Harry fights for the first round of the Triwizard Tournament is called a Hungarian Horntail, which is the same species of dragon that Hagrid tried to raise in "The Sorceror's Stone." Even allowing for differences in age and gender, there is no resemblance between Hagrid's pet Norbert and the Hungarian Horntail in this movie.

Correction: Incorrect. Norbert was a Norwegian Ridgeback, so the differences between him and this dragon are perfectly understandable.
