Flesh and Stone (2) - S5-E5

Continuity mistake: When Amy lies down on the tree stump, her hair is all over her face, but on the wide shot her hair is behind her head.

The Eleventh Hour - S5-E1

Continuity mistake: When the Eleventh Doctor is hanging from the TARDIS across London, every wide shot shown shows the TARDIS spinning, but whenever a close-up of the Doctor is shown, the background doesn't spin.

Cold Blood (2) - S5-E9

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor stands between Restac and his fleeing companions, using his sonic screwdriver to disable the Silurians' weapons, as the camera angle changes, the Doctor's grip on the screwdriver switches back and forth between pointing it at the lizards and holding it straight up and down, รก la the Neuralizer from Men in Black.

The Stolen Earth (1) - S4-E12

Revealing mistake: When Torchwood is transmitting a signal to the Doctor, there is an overhead shot of Cardiff in which several shoppers are idly walking through apparently deserted streets.

Rose - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When Rose gives Mickey the Auton's arm, it is a right arm, but when Mickey throws it in the dumpster it is a left arm, then it's back to being a right arm when it attacks the Doctor.

The God Complex - S6-E12

Continuity mistake: As Lucy goes down the hall, she opens door 214, then 215. As she comes to the next door on the right, she opens 214 again, rather than it being 216. This is particularly noticeable because the third room she enters is "her" room, containing her greatest fear - and the first room she went into numbered 214 had a completely different fear.

The Time of Angels (1) - S5-E4

Continuity mistake: When River shows Amy and the Doctor the video of the Angel, next to the Doctor on the ceiling is a bar with two cloth handles, one on each end. The Doctor accidentally rips off the handle closest to him and the viewscreen. A minute later when Amy is alone and we are looking at the Angel video, this handle is back up. It's gone again in subsequent shots.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Factual error: Clara determines the location of the enemy's base of operations: floor 65 of The Shard. However, there are multiple issues with this conclusion. Firstly, floor 65 is a residential property, not an office location; offices in The Shard occupy floors 2 through 28. Secondly, the view of 30 St Mary Axe from Miss Kizlet's window puts the office below 180m, the height of the latter building. This would mean the office must be below floor 50. Finally, when the Doctor rides his motorcycle up the side of the building, 30 St Mary Axe is again seen, this time significantly below his location, and on the wrong side of The Shard. Not only then does the office's height change, but also which side of The Shard it is on.

Evolution of the Daleks (2) - S3-E5

Continuity mistake: When Martha is searching for how the Daleks changed the design of the Empire State Building, she is examining the plans for the top of the tower. In the first shot where the new plans are visible, the upper right shows a more detailed picture of a plate of Dalekanium. Seconds later, when we can see the new plans again, it's the same side view but the enlarged picture of the plate with the Dalek bumps is gone. These are still the same new plans (the old plans are on her right) and there was no time or reason for Martha to take another page.

The Sound of Drums (2) - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When gassing the cabinet members, the Master puts on a gas mask. The Valiant logo is above the tube, and upside down. In the next shot, it is below the tube, and the right way up.

New this month Suggested correction: After the ladder breaks, and before we see Pete's feet again, we see him climbing a bit up the ladder. When his feet are next shown, he has them on the new bottom rung of the ladder. It would seem that the rope broke exactly where Pete was holding the screwdriver - right by his ankle.

The Doctor's Wife - S6-E5

Character mistake: Idris (the human form of the TARDIS) berates the Doctor because the doors of the TARDIS open inwards, pointing to the notice on the left hand door which says 'pull to open'. Whilst it is true that police boxes did open outwards, the notice is actually referring to the telephone in the small recess behind the notice. The public are instructed to 'pull to open' the small door to access the phone. Consequently, the small door does open correctly, as in the notice.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor and Clara are sitting at their table on the balcony, talking, the level of Clara's mostly-finished milkshake changes several times, most noticeably when she and the Doctor are arguing over who is going to use her computer to hack the bad guys' systems.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor and Clara, while seated at their table on the balcony, are arguing over who has the better hacking skills while pulling her computer back and forth, in overhead shots their table is somewhere in the middle of the balcony. This contrasts with all other shots, which show their table right next to the railing.

The Snowmen - S7-E7

Revealing mistake: When the Doctor and Vastra are on the TARDIS talking about Clara's injuries, and he says that he thinks for once the universe owes him one, he pulls some switches on the console. If you pay attention, you'll notice that the console wobbles slightly as he does so.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Revealing mistake: During the sequence where Clara sets foot on the TARDIS for the first time, and she and the Doctor then stop the plane from crashing, there are some shots which make it fairly obvious that the mug of tea she's carrying is empty.

Quotes

Doctor: So, that's the trap. Or the test or the final judgment, I don't know. But if I kill you, I kill her. Except that implies, in this big grand scheme of Gods and Devils, that she's just a victim. But I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods - out of all that - out of that whole pantheon - if I believe in one thing... Just one thing... I believe in her.

Trivia

"Torchwood" is an anagram for Doctor Who. Russell T Davies came up with it during the filming of Series 1 to label the tapes in order to prevent theft and potential leakage, and decided to use the name in the show proper.
