Forest of the Dead (2) - S4-E9

New this month Continuity mistake: After the Doctor tints Anita's visor, as he explains to River that he did it to try and trick the Vashta Nerada into thinking they're already inside Anita's suit, the position of his right hand, holding the sonic screwdriver, and the fingers of that hand change position between shots.

The Lie of the Land - S10-E9

New this month Continuity mistake: When Bill asks the Doctor to tell her if his cooperation with the Monks is a trick or an illusion while holding him at gunpoint, she's holding the pistol in a two-handed grip. When the camera cuts to the Doctor as he lies that it isn't a trick, and then back to Bill, she's suddenly holding the gun with one hand.

New this month Suggested correction: The problem is this doesn't occur in consecutive shots. After the first closeup of Bill there's a shot facing the Doctor as he says, "It's not a trick. It's not a plan. I have joined the Monks," and in that moment Bill has ample time to simply lower her arm/hand. No continuity issue in this sequence of shots.

If you look really carefully at the shot immediately after the first one, facing the Doctor, Bill's hand, holding the gun, is visible - and she's only holding it in one hand in that shot as well.

I've got it playing now as I'm typing. I understand what you're saying, but compare this shot to the prior shot from a similar angle, right after Bill has taken the gun, just as the Doctor says, "Bill, put.put the gun down," then she replies, "I'm serious, Doctor." Here we can see Bill's right hand high on the gun's grip, with her left support hand quite a bit lower, and it's at the same height as her right sleeve at the wrist. Now if we look at the specific shot we're talking about, we really can only see Bill's right hand because the shot cuts off at the bottom of the screen, so we can't even see that sleeve or her left hand. It's offscreen.

Deliberate mistake: When Jack is scanning the gas mask people, he has a scanner on his right wrist. However, when he shows Rose and the Doctor his image of the Chula warship, the scanner is on his left wrist. The makers flipped the stretch of film, according to the commentary, to make the shot work.

The Unquiet Dead - S1-E3

Factual error: When Rose is locked in the room and the bodies come toward her, you can see a modern-day electric light-switch to the side of the door she's trying to get through. When the Doctor hears her screaming for help and runs for her, you can see a central heating radiator. In fact, the undertaker's house has at least two radiators in different hallways. Both are wildly anachronistic for the time period.

Rose - S1-E1

Revealing mistake: When Mickey closes the wheelie bin lid, he then finds the plastic stuck to his hands, he lifts his hands up and the plastic stretches like tar. If you look closely when he lifts his hands up for the first time, you'll see that a shadow of one of his hands is cast on his shirt, but there is no shadow of the strands of plastic stuck to his fingers. Additionally, when he turns around to pull away from the bin, he crosses the strands over each other, but they are still parallel in the following scene.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor and Clara are on the rooftop terrace, there's a distinctive design on the Doctor's bow tie, but when he's in the coffee shop the bow tie's design differs, and when he runs outside to ask if Clara's okay it changes back, then it changes again when he's in back the shop. Additionally, when the walking base station Doctor uploads Clara it's wearing a bow tie, and its design also changes on the motorbike and in Kizlet's office.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Continuity mistake: Miss Kizlet wears a large silver brooch on her suit's right lapel in every shot of her, but after Clara notices the lights going out behind her house, when it cuts back to the office Kizlet's brooch switches to her left lapel just before it cuts back to the Doctor and Clara, and since the brooch has a distinctive design we can tell that it's a flipped shot.

Blink - S3-E10

Continuity mistake: When Lawrence is watching the Weeping Angel, just after seeing the Doctor's film/Easter egg, he turns away for a split second. By the time he turns back, you see the Weeping Angel's face only inches from Lawrence's face. But you then cut to a wide shot where you see the Angel's arms outstretched, so its face is about half a metre away from Lawrence's face.

Doctor: So, that's the trap. Or the test or the final judgment, I don't know. But if I kill you, I kill her. Except that implies, in this big grand scheme of Gods and Devils, that she's just a victim. But I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods - out of all that - out of that whole pantheon - if I believe in one thing... Just one thing... I believe in her.

Trivia

"Torchwood" is an anagram for Doctor Who. Russell T Davies came up with it during the filming of Series 1 to label the tapes in order to prevent theft and potential leakage, and decided to use the name in the show proper.
