Doctor Who

Kill the Moon - S8-E7

Factual error: In this episode, it is stated that the Moon's sudden increase in mass caused a devastating global high tide. The amount of the increase in mass is given as 1.3 billion tonnes. But the Moon has a mass of over 70,000,000,000 billion tonnes, or over 50 billion times the supposed increase. Such a negligible increase in mass, less than 0.000000002%, would have almost no effect on Earth's tides, let alone be devastating.

Robot of Sherwood - S8-E3

Continuity mistake: When Robin Hood has finished introducing the merry men to the Doctor and Clara, Clara says "You really are Robin Hood and his merry men" and she is shown with her arms parted away from each other. In the next shot, her arms are suddenly closer to her. Then in the next shot, her hands are now closed together. (00:08:25)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: In this episode, I. M. Foreman's scrapyard is at the end of the alley next to Coal Hill School. In "An Unearthly Child", the scrapyard was far enough away from the school that Barbara and Ian take Ian's car to get there. Barbara also describes it to Ian as "there's a big wall on one side, houses on the other." If it was right next to the school, she would have mentioned "that scrapyard next to the school." The Satan Pit (2) - S2-E12

Plot hole: At the end, the Doctor bumped up against the TARDIS in the bottom of the pit. There was no evidence that it could have fallen that far, especially through the sealed entrance that didn't open until the Doctor and Ida were there.

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When the three Doctors have all just come up with a plan to stop Gallifrey being destroyed, the War Doctor shouts "Thank you, Bad Wolf Girl!" At this moment, standing in front of "Rose", the Tenth Doctor's hair is spiked up and messy, but then immediately in the next shot, after the Moment has disappeared, when he questions what the War Doctor just said, his hair is flat and neat again. (01:06:25)

Professor Lazarus

Cold War - S7-E10

Continuity mistake: The submarine surfaces among icebergs at the end. Just as the others go back into the submarine, the Doctor stays up there. Some snow goes onto his lip and his hair. In the following shot, we can see he isn't moving. But in the next shot, the snow on his hair and lip isn't there anymore. (00:40:00)

Casual Person

The Impossible Astronaut - S6-E2

Visible crew/equipment: The astronaut coming out of the lake is seen twice in series 6: In episode 1, "The Impossible Astronaut", and in episode 13, "The Wedding of River Song." In "The Wedding of River Song", when the helmet of the suit is lifted the astronaut is revealed to be River Song. However, in "The Impossible Astronaut", when the helmet was lifted, a man's beard can be seen. Since it is a man in the suit, then it was just a double seen in "The Impossible Astronaut."

Casual Person

The Angels Take Manhattan - S7-E6

Other mistake: The photo shoot PA from "Asylum of the Daleks" earlier in this season isn't in the credits for that episode, but is credited in this episode, despite not featuring in it.

Casual Person

The Big Bang - S5-E13

Factual error: When the Doctor, Amy and Rory are on the roof and the Doctor says "The question for now is total event collapse means that every star in the universe never happened", the Gherkin can be seen in the background. However, the Gherkin wasn't built until 2003, whereas this episode takes place in 1996. (00:22:40)

Casual Person

The Big Bang - S5-E13

Revealing mistake: In the museum after the Doctor, Amy, young Amy and Rory escape the Stone Dalek, the Doctor uses the Vortex Manipulator to go back in time to tell Rory in 102 AD to let him out of the Pandorica. The third time he goes back, Amy moves despite being dead.

Casual Person

Night Terrors - S6-E10

Revealing mistake: When the landlord, Purcell, wakes up on his floor because his pet dog is licking his hand, we see a few pieces of dog food fall from his fingers - should have been a re-shoot, but all credit to the actor, he knows it has happened and is quick to hide them again.

ComicBoy

The Girl in the Fireplace - S2-E7

Continuity mistake: When Rose is giving the 5 year warning to Reinette, she's got a noticeable spot on her chin. When Reinette goes behind the tapestry and sees the ship, Rose's spot has suddenly vanished. (00:28:50)

The Woman Who Fell to Earth - S11-E2

Deliberate mistake: The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) is wearing the same clothes that the previous incarnation (Peter Capaldi) wore after regenerating. Peter Capaldi is 6' and Jodie Whittaker is 5'6", but the clothes fit perfectly. She even says her legs used to be longer, and yet the trousers aren't flapping around her feet.

Casual Person

Rose - S1-E1

Other mistake: When Mickey is trying to pull away from the trash bin, you can see his shadow on the front of his car, but the sun is shining from behind him and the car.

Doctor Who mistake picture

The Vampires of Venice - S5-E6

Revealing mistake: When the Doctor begins climbing a pillar on top of the bell tower, we can see white sky on the central arch. Two other arches in the very same shot show really dark CG sky.

LizzieWD

The Time of Angels (1) - S5-E4

Other mistake: At the end when the Doctor is seen shooting the gravity globe, he does not actually move his finger but the pistol still fires.

LizzieWD

The Stolen Earth (1) - S4-E12

Continuity mistake: At the end, when the Doctor is watching his hand starting to glow, shots from his point of view show that he's holding it vertically. But shots from the opposite view show that he's holding it horizontally.

Josman

Rose - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: In the first episode the doctor explains he likes the ears (to his new body I assume) but then later on we find out he has had the same body since the Titanic and much before. (00:12:05)

Suggested correction: It is indicated by later episodes and other official media that the Ninth Doctor only recently regenerated before the events of the episode, and experienced most of his life, including the Titanic, between leaving and returning to the alleyway in the last scene. This is a time travel show, you realise.

The Satan Pit (2) - S2-E12

Doctor: So, that's the trap. Or the test or the final judgment, I don't know. But if I kill you, I kill her. Except that implies, in this big grand scheme of Gods and Devils, that she's just a victim. But I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods - out of all that - out of that whole pantheon - if I believe in one thing... Just one thing... I believe in her.

Trivia: "Torchwood" is an anagram for Doctor Who. Russell T Davies came up with it during the filming of Series 1 to label the tapes in order to prevent theft and potential leakage, and decided to use the name in the show proper.
