Doctor Who

The Big Bang - S5-E13

Revealing mistake: When the Doctor travels back in time after being shot by the stone Dalek, falls down the stairs and tells himself that he has 12 minutes to live we never see either of the 2 Doctors' faces onscreen at the same time, and if you look at the hair on the Doctor that's dying it is completely different to Matt Smith's. That's because it is Gordon Seed, Matt Smith's stunt double.

New Earth - S2-E4

Plot hole: Those people created for medical experiments cannot run. In fact they can barely walk, so how come they can climb nearly as fast as Rose? What's more, when you see them climbing, they seem to have little ability to coordinate hand over hand. Even with the delay brought on by the cat-woman-thing, they should not have been able to keep up with her.

The Empty Child (1) - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor takes to the nightclub stage to ask if anything has fallen from the sky, he has his right hand and arm up and gesticulating. But in several other shots of him from behind, it is his left arm that is up and moving.

Human Nature (1) - S3-E8

Other mistake: Joan puts her stethoscope in her ears backwards when listening to John Smith's single heart.

The End of the World - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: As the room that Rose is in gets scorched by the blazing sun, the level of burning is above her head in close up shots, but at Rose's head height in wide shots.

The Empty Child (1) - S1-E9

Plot hole: Nancy seems to have the unique ability to whistle with her fingers in her mouth - even though she's wearing gloves.

Aliens of London (1) - S1-E4

Revealing mistake: When the alien spacecraft crashes into Big Ben, it is obvious that the shot has been reversed/flipped around. Look at the Roman numerals on Big Ben's clock face: They should read (clockwise from the top) XII, I, II, III, and so. Instead they read IIX, IX, X, etc.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Visible crew/equipment: After Miss Kizlet enters her office to find the walking base station Doctor sitting at her desk, as she walks around the motorbike lying on the broken glass, when this 'Doctor' says, "Yes, those still with bodies to go home to would be free," we can see the moving reflection of two crew members on the surface of the motorbike.

The Bells of Saint John - S7-E8

Continuity mistake: Miss Kizlet wears a large silver brooch on her suit's right lapel in every shot of her, but after Clara notices the lights going out behind her house, when it cuts back to the office Kizlet's brooch switches to her left lapel just before it cuts back to the Doctor and Clara, and since the brooch has a distinctive design we can tell that it's a flipped shot.

Deep Breath - S8-E1

Continuity mistake: After Strax hits Clara with a newspaper she comes downstairs and he asks her if she needs anything. She asks for water and he places the bucket of mop water on the table in front of Clara. They have a conversation about the water and at the end of the conversation Clara looks at her newspaper and the bucket has disappeared from the table in front of her. Neither of them moved it.

Time Crash - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: At the end of "Last of the Time Lords", the Doctor flicks two switches on the console just before the Titanic hits. In the same scene in "Time Crash", the last control he hits is a large button.

Boom Town - S1-E11

Revealing mistake: The 'earthquake' that takes place in this episode results in CGI-created cracks in the pavement that are very unconvincing. They do not appear to displace anything and - in a related continuity error - the cracks disappear in shots taken from ground level (the cracks are only visible in high-level 'looking down' shots).

00:34:30

Rose - S1-E1

Revealing mistake: The Doctor and Rose locate the "metal" hatch that leads down into the Nestene Consciousness' lair. Watch carefully after the Doctor removes the "metal" hatch and moves it aside. The entire hatch pops up a second later. This is because it is plastic and it was suctioned to the floor.

Army of Ghosts (1) - S2-E15

Continuity mistake: When Rose presents her mother with the Bazoolium, she's holding it in her left hand. When the view switches to look at Jackie, it shifts to Rose's right hand and then immediately back to her left when the view restores to the original vantage point.

Father's Day - S1-E8

Plot hole: In "Aliens of London", it is established on a 'missing person' poster that Rose Tyler is approximately 19 years of age in March 2005 (The poster says 'missing since 6 March 2005'). This means that she must have been born prior to March 1986. However, in "Father's Day", which is dated 7 November 1987, Rose is still a baby in her mother's arms, when she should be a toddler aged approx two.

The Impossible Planet (1) - S2-E11

Factual error: Ida, the science officer, says that the planet is in geostationary orbit around the black hole. However, the word "geostationary" applies very specifically to objects orbiting the planet Earth. Since a black hole is a type of star, this planet's orbit could be described as astrostationary, or even just stationary, but definitely not as geostationary. A science expert on an interstellar mission wouldn't make this mistake, and she wasn't dumbing things down, either, since "geostationary orbit" is already a pretty obscure topic for people unfamiliar with space technology.

Quotes

Doctor: So, that's the trap. Or the test or the final judgment, I don't know. But if I kill you, I kill her. Except that implies, in this big grand scheme of Gods and Devils, that she's just a victim. But I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods - out of all that - out of that whole pantheon - if I believe in one thing... Just one thing... I believe in her.

Trivia

"Torchwood" is an anagram for Doctor Who. Russell T Davies came up with it during the filming of Series 1 to label the tapes in order to prevent theft and potential leakage, and decided to use the name in the show proper.
