Hot Pocket-Dial - S14-E7

Question: Why is Brian trying to convince Peter to move on from Quagmire's pocket-dialed conversation when Brian and Quagmire hate other?

Answer: It is not that Brian and Quagmire both hate each other; it is actually just Quagmire who hates Brian, but Brian does not hate Quagmire. Brian tells Peter to move on from Quagmire's pocket dial because confronting him about it may result in him ruining his friendship and cause heartache for everyone involved.

Question: I saw an episode on FOX the other night where Peter flew around the world delivering packages and getting smarter the more he travelled. When I pressed the (i) button on my TV remote for info on the episode it said it was from series 13, however I own series 13 on DVD and that episode is not on there. I had never seen the episode before. So my question is this: are the seasons labelled differently on TV as opposed to the DVDs or is it a difference in the way countries label seasons, as I live in the UK not the US?

strikeand

Chosen answer: This is down to a difference between countries. I am also UK based and had this problem. What the UK considers a series of Family Guy is different to what the US considers. Another example is Series 6 in the UK features an episode called Saving Private Bryan. However, under the US listings (on IMDB) it comes up as series 5.

Ocean's Three and a Half - S7-E7

Question: In an attempt to impress the ladies, Frank Sinatra Jr. name drops Dean Martin, saying "he was the only one on the golf course with a five iron with a cork on the end of it." I don't get the joke/reference...

Marc Minnix

Chosen answer: It means he drank a lot - he's implying that Martin's golf club was hollowed out and filled with alcohol.

Meet The Quagmires - S5-E18

Question: In the alternate timeline, Quagmire and Lois are married. In the kitchen, Lois takes a pie out of the oven and Quagmire says "Hey honey I'm ready for your pie and you made dessert too". Now I know this is some sort of sex joke or dirty pun. But what exactly does the joke mean?

Chosen answer: Pie is a slang for a woman's vagina. That's the meaning of this double entendre. He want to have sex with her and she just happened to have baked dessert.

Question: When Brian went to see his ex, Tracy Flannagn, and Tracy announces Brian has a son, why does Stewie start chanting, "Jerry! Jerry!"? Is that a reference to something or what?

Answer: It references "The Jerry Springer Show" a "trash TV" talk show where people are often confronted with unknown children, their partners' secret lovers, etc. The crowd often chants the host's first name during the show.

Answer: The joke is that only a girl would be excited about former teen heartthrob Kirk Cameron. There are many references through the entire show that Stewie might be gay.

Question: One of the jokes I've never really gotten - on Quahog's news show, why do Tom and Diane point out that other reporters are Asian, Hispanic, etc?

Answer: Most likely it is a joke on the reporters being a example of racial tokenism. For example Tricia Takanawa name, face, accent are of a stereotype Asian. The fact they refer to them by a race or ethnicity is more of a joke about that.

Question: In Australia, where I live, the episodes Blue Harvest Part 1 and Part 2 are being released as a movie. Does anyone know if these episodes are going to be released on the Region 4 Season 7 DVD,(our seasons are numbered differently than the American ones) I don't want to buy Blue Harvest as a movie if it's going to be released as two episodes on the DVD.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: I would say its almost certain that Blue Harvest will not be on the upcoming Region 4 release. Volume 6 in the US is being released without the Blue Harvest episodes and I would doubt it would be any different here in Australia. The Stewie Griffin movie that was released a while ago was released as a stand alone DVD and not included on the season DVD despite it also being screened on television.

European Road Show - S3-E20

Question: Is Brian's line "Hey, is that a beer hall?" a joke on how tour guides seem to be obsessed with beer halls? I was on a tour in Salzburg, Austria, and the tour guide just wouldn't shut up about the Salzburg beer hall, so I was wondering if this was a common thing amongst tour guides.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: While I am not sure whether it's a common thing, the joke was Brian trying to change the atmosphere of the situation he just created. Brian was trying to get the tour guide to admit to the fact that the history missing in the pamphlet was during the Nazi regime. Due to the Denazification in many European countries, it is generally an area that is still very controversial. The fact that the tour guide made such lame excuses on what had actually happened and then blew up when Brian continued on about it meant it was an issue he should just leave well alone.

Underage Peter - S14-E14

Plot hole: They're in the Clam complaining that they can't drink when they make the revelation that Brian can because he's technically 56. But Quagmire should be able to drink, as in a much earlier episode, he's revealed to be over 60.
