Emissary (1) - S1-E1

Corrected entry: When Sisko was initially meeting and speaking with Kira, she described the station by calling it a, "Godforsaken place." From her perspective, she should have said, "Prophet-forsaken place." Also, later in the episode, Quark refers to the Bajorans as, "Godfearing people." Once again, should have been, "Prophet-fearing people."

Correction: Remember that we are hearing Bajoran and Ferenginese translated into English. An exact translation isn't always proper.

Corrected entry: At the start, English-label bars are sent to Tokyo. Later in the news, however, chocolate in Tokyo is shown to have Japanese labels.

Correction: It's certainly possible to have both a native language and English bars in one country.

Corrected entry: On Ben and Andie's first date, they are seen eating lobster. But later on in the movie when Ben serves her lamb, she says she is a vegetarian.

Correction: And at the vegetarian restaurant she was going into the kitchen and eating meat. Andie was not a vegetarian. She was just saying this to annoy Ben after he had cooked a meal for her.

Correction: Plenty of vegetarians just eat fish. They are called pescatarians.

LorgSkyegon

Correction: This is more of a fault on Benjamin... he didn't realise that she had eaten meat prior to their vegetarian date.

The Godfather (1972)

Corrected entry: When Clemenza gets out of the car just before Paulie is shot, it doesn't make sense that he would stand in front of the car where he's right in the firing line. When he returns to the car you can see bullet holes in the windshield. He was lucky not to be hit. Someone as smart as Clemenza would have stood behind the car where he would have been safe.

StarryMessenger

Correction: He's not really in the line of fire. He's in front of the car but also off to the side.

The Beta Test Initiation - S5-E14

Character mistake: Sheldon says (during Fun With Flags) "But like the flag over Fort Sumter, I'm still here." The Sumter flag was lowered when the fort surrendered to the Confederates. The flag over Fort McHenry was never taken down despite the British bombardment and inspired Francis Scott Key to write the National Anthem about it. Whouldn't a vexologist know that?

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Sheldon is referring to the actual Fort Sumter flag, which still exists and is on display at the Fort Sumter museum.

LorgSkyegon

Sheldon is not referring the actual flag (especially since if the actual flag is in a museum it's not still over Fort Sumter). Sheldon is referencing the line from The Star-Spangled Banner "our flag was still there." Key wrote The Star-Spangled Banner after seeing the flag over Fort McHenry was still there. The writers simply made a mistake and Sheldon the character would know which flag inspired the line. Incidentally, the actual Fort McHenry flag also still exists.

What Is and What Should Never Be (1) - S5-E3

Corrected entry: Red complains to Kitty that the Corvette will be the first thing to go when the new baby arrives, and that he had been wanting it for 25 years, but couldn't afford it with the kids. However, the Corvette is a '58, which would make it 20 years old, and even Laurie would have been born long after the Corvette was originally introduced.

Correction: Just because he had seen it before the kids were born doesn't mean he was in a position to buy it. After they were stable he would have been able to, but now couldn't because of the kids.

The Nerdvana Annihilation - S1-E14

Corrected entry: At the beginning, when Leonard has won the online auction, we see a shot of his laptop computer screen showing an Apple Safari browser window with Mac OS X window controls, but the laptop is a PC, not made by Apple. Mac OS X can only run on Mac hardware.

Correction: It is difficult but possible (and a TOS violation) to get Mac OS X to run on a PC. The company Psystar even did it commercially. Given Leonard and Sheldon's computer knowledge, it shouldn't be difficult at all. Or they could easily just be running a custom browser skin.

The Zarnecki Incursion - S4-E19

Plot hole: If Howard can hack into Blizzard's database so deeply that he can get the name and address of game players, he could easily restore all of Sheldon's stolen 'items'. Hacking personal details - a player's real identity and their home address! - is hardcore, detailed work that only an expert could do, compared to which adding a few extra items to a player in the game would be child's play. Sheldon would not be concerned about a possible comeback from the administrators at Blizzard. First, Sheldon doesn't hack into the database, Howard does, and someone as pragmatic and self-centred as Sheldon would simply disclaim any responsibility. Second, hacking into another player's account to access highly sensitive personal information like their home address would risk incurring the same penalty from Blizzard anyway. Either Sheldon doesn't know that or he doesn't care. Third, his account has already been hacked when the virtual items were stolen. He could simply claim that Howard's hacking into his account was just more of the same - nothing to do with him. Fourth, Blizzard did not detect the hacker stealing Sheldon's virtual items, nor did they prevent it happening, and they did not detect Howard hacking into his account to obtain his name and address. Sheldon can rightly assume he has nothing to fear.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Hacking the database to return items to Sheldon's account would also be traceable to Sheldon's account as cheating. That would get him permabanned if discovered, not a risk Sheldon wants to take.

Besides, if Blizzard were aware that Howard had hacked into Sheldon's account, why weren't they aware that the person who stole the virtual items did?

Reading information from a server is easier than writing new data into it. You can steal a mass bulk of files and extract the information at a later time, whereas writing information in Sheldon's account would take much more precision.

Evan Almighty (2007)

Corrected entry: Evan resigns as a newsreader when he is elected to Congress. That can't happen. The US has very strict rules regarding television exposure of candidates for political office, even if it is not campaign related. If the television channel for which Evan works continued to use him as a newsreader, by law they would have to offer free airtime of equal duration to his opponents. He'd have to resign or take leave of absence as soon as he announced his candidacy.

Correction: Just because the station would have to offer free time, doesn't mean the opposing candidate would have to take it. We don't see if his opponent took it or not.

Frasier (1993)

Voyage of the Damned - S5-E6

Corrected entry: In this episode Roz is supposed to be pregnant. She found out two episodes before that she was going to have a baby. If so, then why is she drinking alcohol with Frasier and Niles? If she's pregnant, she shouldn't be drinking alcohol. You could see her drinking at two different times what appeared to be some kind of whiskey at one point, and then some kind of wine later on.

AndressJade

Correction: "Shouldn't" isn't a legitimate mistake. Plenty of women drink small quantities of alcohol while pregnant with no ill effects, despite recommendations against it.

Airheads (1994)

Corrected entry: Fraser's girlfriend slams a chair against a soundproof glass and the glass shatters. Soundproof glass is usually 3 or 4 inches thick and is very hard to break. Also, if the glass wasn't soundproof, it should've been because most radio stations have those. (01:19:15)

Correction: Given that you can hear what goes on inside the booth from the outside, it obviously isn't soundproof. And just because "most" radio stations have it, doesn't mean all do. My local pop/rock station doesn't.

LorgSkyegon

Corrected entry: We know based on the 'movie time frame' of things and various timeline events within going back to the previous two Karate Kid films, at least a year (and possibly upwards of a year and a half) of time has transpired between the end of Karate Kid 1 (which ends in December of 1983 - movie time) and the ending of Karate Kid 3 (early to mid 1985 - movie time) The ending fight was advertised as an 'under 18 ALL Valley Karate Championship.' It is almost impossible at this juncture that Daniel is still under 18, especially because of his '17th birthday' celebration he and Mr. Miyagi had over a year (and longer) previous in the first Karate Kid film. It was likely Daniel had to still be 18, (possibly closer to 19), by the 'movie time frame' at the ending of Karate Kid III.

Correction: It was the next year, not two years later. Remember, Daniel was still the champion from the previous year. Daniel turned 16 in the first movie (he shows off his new license) and the second takes place during the summer after. The third film takes place the following school year, so Daniel would have turned 17.

LorgSkyegon

Correction: More than likely incorrect. Daniel was not "turning 16" as the first Karate Kid begins. He was starting his senior year, and more than likely was 16 (turning 17). While not impossible, it is very unlikely he would be starting his senior year at still 15/not yet 16. The time "reference points" of the first entry are all pretty accurate. By the time Karate Kid 3 takes place (still in movie time), at least a year of time - if not more - would have passed, making Daniel now just over 18 at minimum.

Correction: My mailbox was changed three times in the three years I lived in my last apartment.

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Corrected entry: It is a potentially serious ethical violation for Vinny to represent both Billy and Stan at the same time. An attorney owes a duty of complete loyalty to each client s/he represents, and Billy and Stan's interests will not necessarily be the same throughout the trial (one may want to plead guilty, the other may not, for example). Without at least addressing this issue with the boys before he agrees to represent them, Vinny would be severely sanctioned.

Correction: Just because we have not seen it happen does not mean it didn't happen. And since Stan gave up on the hapless public defender to rehire Vinny, it's quite obvious he's not going to file any complaint.

Corrected entry: Andy arrives in Shawshank in 1949, which is stated in the beginning. He escapes in 1966, making it 17 years. But when he collects the money, Red says that he took the money as service pay for 19 years of work, a two year difference.

Friso94

Correction: Andy arrived in 1947, not 1949.

Show generally

Corrected entry: Leonard and Sheldon live in 4A and Penny in 4B. Yet when they go to the mailbox downstairs, Sheldon's mailbox is the upper left one while Penny's is the third or fourth one from the left. Mail boxes have to be in apartment order, not necessarily for the tenant who could remember where their box is but for the mailman to be able to use the apartment number as to placement of the mailbox. Whenever a sub carrier would do the route, he wouldn't be able to follow the random pattern.

terry s

Correction: My first apartment building didn't have them in order. The boxes were marked with either the apartment number, the tenant names, or both.

Down Periscope (1996)

Corrected entry: When the Stingray is entering the Denali's propwash, Lake informs the captain that they need to steer right. She assumes the conn, orders hard right rudder, then back 2/3rds. Right rudder in reverse would point the nose to the left, a situation they specifically wanted to avoid.

Correction: Except they're not going backwards, they're simply slowing down the sub to maneuver better.

Down Periscope (1996)

Corrected entry: There are numerous references to the word "quadrant," being substituted for "region." A quadrant is one-fourth of something. It is not a generic, military-sounding name for a region.

Correction: The Stingray is confined to a containment zone for the duration of the exercise. As Graham had cut the zone in half by removing two sections, the zone had obviously been sectioned into quadrants.

LorgSkyegon

Corrected entry: Just before the kid leaves and is robbed at his house, he shuts his book and gets into his shoes. He just slides into his shoes in a "cool" way, but it's not really possible the way he does it. It was done by having him take the shoes off and then reversing the shot.

Knever

Correction: How exactly is that impossible? I've done it before. It all depends on how broken in the shoes are. Given how poor he and his mother are, it seems likely he's had them for quite a while.

LorgSkyegon

Corrected entry: When Neal is waiting for the elevator at the beginning of the movie, there is only one call button for the elevator, indicating they are on the top floor that particular elevator can reach. However when the doors open there are multiple people already in the elevator. Nobody gets off, so these people would've had to go for an elevator ride to the top before heading down, which doesn't make sense.

Correction: Some elevators will stop at each floor where someone presses a button no matter which way they want to go. Others will pick up people at each floor that is going the same way (i.e. everyone is going down) if they are stopping there anyway or just to save time. Or perhaps the elevator had stopped to let other people off who were going up and the people had got on expecting it to go down. Just because it is unusual doesn't make it a mistake.
