Batman: Arkham City

Question: When does Catwoman show up at the Monarch Theater? She's there when Batman brings out Joker's body, yet she mentions he'll be busy with the Joker for a while after this. So when does she get there?

Rob245

Question: Why not just have Mini-Me transferred to where Dr Evil's being held?

Rob245

Answer: They don't. Movies and especially television shows often depict the legal and judicial systems in the United States as moving very quickly, despite the fact that, in reality, the wheels of justice turn very slowly.

Phaneron

Answer: To add to the other answers, in the U.S. the average time on death row before execution is close to 20 years due to lengthy appeals, legal challenges, evolving state policies, and complex judicial processes. In modern times, it never happens as it does in movies and TV.

raywest

Answer: Time passes quickly. It doesn't show every minute of every day. When he was executed, several months, maybe a couple of years, had gone by. They wanted to show him finally deducing that Clark Kent was Superman.

Cursed (2005)

Question: When did a shot to the head ever kill a werewolf? I always thought in their lore only silver bullets could do it.

Rob245

Answer: Different pieces of media have different rules and lore. Media isn't required to stick by classic rules, and this movie in particular toys with the classic rules a bit. For example, earlier in the film, Jimmy mentions that one of the ways to kill a werewolf is by severing the connection between the heart and brain, which would normally mean decapitation. However, blowing its brains out would also certainly accomplish that. Another example is the excellent werewolf movie "Ginger Snaps", in which pretty much anything can kill a werewolf as long as it inflicts enough damage.

TedStixon

Answer: As with other creatures of lore, there are different versions in different stories. I read a book in which most werewolves were male. The main character, a woman, was rare for being a woman werewolf. Other werewolf stories are not like that. In this movie, a shot to the head can kill a werewolf.

Question: When Arnold's fighting the crooked Santas, does a snazzy version of Jingle Bells play? I've seen the movie online and wondered if this is how it was done in the theatrical and DVD versions of the movie?

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Question: Did the idea of the symbiote affecting Peter's personality come from the animated series? I don't recall it affecting him in the comics at all.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Question: Mr Freeze wasn't arrested, nor did Batman take him in, so how did the police get hold of his gun from Arkham City?

Rob245

Answer: In Batman: Arkham City, Mr. Freeze's gun was taken by the Penguin, which he used in an attempt to stop Batman. After beating the Penguin and the eventual closing of Arkham City, the gun was then sent to the GCPD evidence room.

But Mr Freeze got it back for his fight with Batman, remember?

Question: Given these are the Looney Tunes, why did this movie bomb while its predecessor, Space Jam, did great at the box office?

Rob245

Answer: It's hard to nail down exactly why, but I think it was a combination of a few factors. The biggest of which was that it was released within a week of three other high-profile family films, including the surprise sleeper hit "Elf." It simply had fierce competition. It was also known at the time that the film had a somewhat troubled production, which could have impacted audience perception. I think it's also worth noting that, on the whole, Looney Tunes theatrical films tend not to draw huge box office numbers. "Space Jam" was their only real hit out of four theatrical films. One could argue that the popularity of Michael Jordan in the sporting world is what gave "Space Jam" a leg up over the other Looney Tunes films, as he brought in a wider audience.

Question: Just how did a crate of Titan get in the bay, anyway?

The Flash (2023)

Answer: Some possible reasons gleaned from the Internet: Filmmakers wanted a different vision of Supergirl to reflect a darker, grittier personality and to show her refugee-like experience. Her dark short hair symbolizes her harsher journey from her home world. Also, it gives her a more androgynous look, reflecting both her feminine and masculine traits. Adopting a radically different look for an established character also shakes up viewers' expectations and generates more publicity and interest in the film.

I Love Lucy (1951)

Question: Which is Dreyfus's title? He's called both Chief Inspector and Commissioner, so which is right?

Rob245

Answer: In this particular film, he's referred to solely as "Commissioner" and is then Chief Inspector in every subsequent Pink Panther film in which he appears (up until "Son of the Pink Panther" [1993], Herbert Lom's last appearance in the role, when he is again Commissioner). If you're after a reason, there likely isn't an official one, though perhaps Dreyfus's murder spree and mental breakdown in this film led to his demotion.

Stand By Me (1986)

Question: Why do the boys part ways once they get back to town? Why not just stay friends?

Rob245

Answer: They gradually drifted apart. Like most children, they may be compatible as boyhood pals and share similar kid-type interests and activities, but as they mature and integrate with other peers, their varying personalities, intelligence, talents, interests, and other differences become more pronounced, sending them in different life directions.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Question: Why doesn't Mr Freeze just tell Penguin his wife is behind the door in the lab? Then he'd get Boyle, and Penguin would be content with the cold guns Freeze made and gave to him.

Rob245

Question: Why was this movie even made? Joker seemed to have been a complete story with no need to keep going, so why make a sequel?

Rob245

Answer: For the most part, it was likely down to the fact that the first film was a massive smash hit, grossing $1 billion on a budget of less than $70 million. There was simply too much financial incentive for the studio to not greenlight a sequel. The director also reportedly hated that the character, as portrayed in the first film, had become something of an "incel" poster boy and was idolised by part of the audience. So he wanted to make a sequel that tore down this notion by reaffirming that Arthur was just an unhinged, mentally ill weirdo.

Fantastic Four (2025)

Answer: Shalla-Bal has been in Marvel comics since 1968, and is the Silver Surfer in Marvel continuities like Earth X and What If. Given that the Fantastic Four in this film are clearly from a different continuity from the regular MCU, it makes perfect sense.

Batman Returns (1992)

Question: What did Danny DeVito eat instead of a raw fish during the scene where Shreck pushes the Penguin to run for mayor?

Rob245

Answer: He was actually eating raw fish.

Do you have a source for that? It seems unlikely.

Danny DeVito has stated in interviews that he ate fresh real bluefish (think of it like bluefish sashimi minus the soy sauce, wasabi, and ponzu).

Super Grover

Why would you think it seems unlikely? Lots of people eat raw fish. As long as it's treated properly to kill off bacteria (usually by flash-freezing it), it's perfectly safe. Heck, I even eat raw fish all the time. You just have to make sure it's sashimi-grade. Getting some raw bluefish seems cheaper and faster than going through a whole hullabaloo making a fake prop and concoction for the scene.
