Trivia: Director John Boorman initially didn't want to make the movie as he found the first film distasteful. However, when he saw the story treatment, his perspective changed and he viewed "Exorcist II" as a rebuttal to his perception of the original film's darkness and a tale about "goodness" winning. Boorman subsequently admitted that his views were wrong and that the movie didn't work, and that he shouldn't have made it since he "denied what the audience wanted."

Trivia: Despite the film's negative reception, star Brendan Fraser has lightly defended it in interviews. In a 2025 interview, he stated that while it wasn't a good "Mummy" movie, he thought it was a decent stand-alone adventure movie and said that the experience of making it and working in China was fantastic. (Though he promised the announced fourth film would be the movie that both he and the fans "have been wanting," hinting at a return to the tone and Egyptian mythology of the first two movies.)

Trivia: In a 2025 interview, star Brendan Fraser stated that the main reason for the scenery change from Egypt to China was business-related. NBC Universal wanted to do cross-promotion with the 2008 Olympics, which were being held in China, and asked for the film to be based around Chinese mythology.

Trivia: After the release of this film, Brendan Fraser repeatedly floated the idea of a fourth film, often saying in interviews that he'd love to play Rick O'Connell again. However, the series was rebooted in 2017 instead, apparently dashing all hopes. However, in late 2025, it was revealed that a fourth film was greenlit with Fraser and original co-star Rachel Weisz (who sat this film out) both set to return.

The Mummy (1999)

Trivia: Despite the movie being a fan-favourite that's still loved over 25 years later, the film had one particularly noteworthy critic... its composer, Jerry Goldsmith. Goldsmith reportedly despised the film (possibly in part due to bad accommodations the studio gave him), and even once refused to refer to it by name during a concert where he performed selections of his work, referring to it only as a "piece of shit" he wrote music for. This is the main reason he didn't come back for the sequel.

Flow (2024)

Trivia: Director Gints Zilbalodis has stated that part of the inspiration for the film was completing his first feature, which he largely made by himself, and being given access to more time, money and crew to collaborate with on his second film, which became "Flow." The cat represents his own need to learn how to work with others. He also wanted the film to be a statement on how to become braver and live with fear and insecurity both on your own and with the help of others.

Flow (2024)

Trivia: The entire film was made with free open-source animation software (primarily Blender) due to the tight budget.

Trivia: Charles Band, co-creator of both franchises, sold the rights to this crossover film to the Sci-Fi Channel so it could be made. He primarily did it for the money because his studio, Full Moon, was struggling financially. Band later expressed regret for this decision, as the film is of a noticeably poor quality. Additionally, director Ted Nicolaou has said he regrets making the film and feels it turned out poorly. He wasn't a fan of the franchises and only took the job to get much-needed work.

Trivia: Peter Dinklage plays Toxie's human form Winston and also recorded all the character's dialogue as the "Toxic Avenger." But Toxie, in his final "Toxic Avenger" form, is physically played by a woman named Luisa Guerreiro under heavy makeup, as Dinklage was very uncomfortable with the excessive prosthetics. Guerreiro and Dinklage worked closely together to create the physical mannerisms of Toxie so their performances would match, and so Guerreiro could more naturally lip-sync Dinklage's dialogue.

Trivia: Despite being completed in 2023 and screened at several festivals, the film was dubbed "unreleasable" due to its gory content and shelved indefinitely. It was finally acquired by another company and given a theatrical release in 2025 after the success of films like the "Terrifier" movies, which were box-office hits despite being released unrated.

Happy Gilmore 2 (2025)

Trivia: NFL star Travis Kelce has a cameo as Oscar's snooty boss who fires him. Oscar later imagines watching a bear eat him. Kelce is also popular in the pop music scene for being Taylor Swift's then-boyfriend-now-fiancé. As a result, rumours swirled that Swift was the person in the bear costume in an unconventional cameo. The two eventually put the rumour to bed in a podcast, confirming she was not the person in the bear costume.

Marrowbone (2017)

Trivia: Spoilers: The film reveals that Jack suffers from a form of dissociative identity disorder (DID) and began hallucinating and acting out the "roles" of his siblings after they were murdered by their father. That makes this the second movie in as many years in which actress Anya Taylor-Joy plays a protagonist character who must contend with a man who has DID. The other film was "Split" in 2016. Albeit, Jack is a much more sympathetic figure than Kevin from "Split."

Trivia: Shortly after this film's release, fans of the series began half-jokingly, half-seriously campaigning for a crossover "Knives Out" movie featuring Benoit Blanc and Jim Henson's The Muppets. Series creator Rian Johnson actually seriously considered the idea for a period of time because it's so funny. But he ultimately realised it wouldn't work because of the (rather massive) stylistic and tonal differences between the two franchises.

Trivia: The titular secret society is called "The Ivy Society." This is both a reference to the original movie and also the idea of Ivy League schools.

Trivia: Every film has a lead character named after a plant: Ivy in the original, Lily in the second film, Violet in the third film, and Daisy in this film. This film also contains a secondary character named after a plant - the villainous character Azalea.

Trivia: Unlike the first three movies, which were all theatrical or direct-to-video movies, this fourth "Poison Ivy" film was actually made as a Lifetime Original TV movie. (Albeit one that later got an extended, unrated video release containing a great deal of nudity.)

TedStixon

Trivia: Jamie Pressley stated that the producers and director asked her to do more nude scenes for the movie after seeing her body during her first nude scene. She has said one of her regrets was that she was new to the industry and didn't realise she could have said "no," but still credits the movie as helping her "pay the bills."

Poison Ivy II (1996)

Trivia: Star Alyssa Milano once humorously quipped in an interview that her "Poison Ivy days are over!" It is believed that she was referring to taking roles that are overly erotic in tone or require nudity.
