Chucky (2021)

An Affair to Dismember - S1-E8

Deliberate mistake: Right after the credits, we see an establishing shot of the mayor's house but it's a reused shot from episode four from when Jake and Lexy snuck inside, just without the digitally added smoke. What gives it away? The fact you can see Jake and Lexy at the bottom corner sneaking in, wearing the clothes they wore in episode four, even though they're already inside and wearing different clothes.

Cult of Chucky (2017)

Deliberate mistake: When the cannister rockets through the ceiling window, the pieces of glass from the initial impact never fall down. Nor are they on top of the window in the next shot. They just sort-of vanish. Additionally, the cracks don't match from the first shot to the second time we see it. There's suddenly less cracks which is odd because it's a digital effect.

Curse of Chucky (2013)

Deliberate mistake: When Barb is in the attic, she finds two pictures of sunflowers in front of her. It then cuts to the "opposite" angle of Barb, and those exact same two pictures are suddenly behind her. In fact, everything behind her is the same. It appears to be two slightly different shots from the exact same angle that they tried to "cheat" as being two different angles. (They almost get away with it because the second shot is wider, but once you notice the pictures, it's far too obvious.)

Curse of Chucky (2013)

Deliberate mistake: The video feed from Jill's laptop doesn't match the angle we see her laptop in. The image should be a weird, low-angle shot with lots of space above her head given her laptop is down on her lap, but the image we see is a pristine parallel shot. Additionally, the video footage is way too high quality for a 2013 laptop webcam. (Heck, it's too high quality for a 2024 laptop webcam.)

Seed of Chucky (2004)

Deliberate mistake: In the unrated cut, when Jennifer/Tiffany is dragging the dead maid, you can see the "dead" maid is actually holding her head a few inches above the ground so her face doesn't rub on the floor. You can even see her subtly raise and lower her head as Jennifer/Tiffany grabs her and then stops.

Seed of Chucky (2004)

Deliberate mistake: When Tiffany is reading the self-help book for recovering addicts, there's a closeup of a page. While the headline for the chapter makes sense, the body text is completely unrelated and is about corporate work culture. (Likely just some generic free text the prop department copy/pasted into the book prop.)

Ted - S2-E11

Deliberate mistake: The second time Buffy and Ted fight, Buffy stabs Ted with a nail-file and exposes circuitry under Ted's skin, revealing he's a robot. However, the "wound" on Ted's arm is far too huge to have been exposed by a single stab from a nail-file.

Prophecy Girl - S1-E12

Deliberate mistake: When Willow and Jenny go out to the parking lot only to discover vampires converging on the school, pay attention to the extras. You can make out some of the same extras in different shots coming from different directions. (Most notably, you can see a woman in a long black-and-white skirt coming from the direction of the parking lot, then a few shots later, she's suddenly over in the football field coming from there.) They obviously reused extras in different shots to "pad out" the crowds.

Spider-Man (2002)

Deliberate mistake: During the fight at the Unity Day Festival, at one point Goblin is confronted by some cops and beats them up. Watch closely... you can tell that the first and second shots are just different takes of the same stunt from a different camera angle. Goblin's movies are exactly the same (except slightly faster in the second shot), and you can also tell it's the exact same two cops he's hitting. They tried to artificially lengthen the scene by showing two slightly different takes of the stunt.

The Crow (1994)

Deliberate mistake: When Eric first enters his old apartment, watch very closely. When he first wanders in the room, his body has a slightly weird jitter and blur to it that doesn't quite match his movements. This is because the footage of Eric walking through the doorway is actually taken from the scene in the alley. They "cut" Brandon Lee out of that scene and inserted him into the apartment since they didn't have a shot of him. But unfortunately, it has some odd "glitches" due the footage not quite matching.

Land of the Dead (2005)

Deliberate mistake: When Dead Reckoning is firing the missiles at the end (towards the crowd that's being eaten by zombies), you can tell that they repeat the same shot of the missile firing three separate times, even though it's supposed to be three different missiles. (It's the shot of the exhaust coming out of the back of the launcher.) They try to mask it by cutting a little earlier or later each time... but it's obvious.

Hellraiser (1987)

Deliberate mistake: When Larry comes inside the house (right after Kirsty encounters the cenobites and Frank and Julia discuss getting him a new skin), he is absolutely bone dry... but we can hear a steady, heavy downpour outside when he opens the door. Seems like they added a rain sound effect in post for a creepy ambiance even though it wasn't shot with that in mind. (01:09:35)

Hellraiser (1987)

Deliberate mistake: When Larry and the two moving men are first bringing the mattress through the doorway and it gets "stuck," the camera placement makes it pretty obvious that the mattress isn't really stuck. There's far too much wiggle room on either end for it to be "stuck." (Obviously it needs to be stuck for the scene to work... but still a weird inconsistency).

Never Kill A Boy On The First Date - S1-E5

Deliberate mistake: When Buffy and Giles are searching the funeral home, we see three shots of Buffy and Giles opening up different mortuary-cabinet doors, shot from the point of view of the cabinet. The problem? You can tell they're opening and closing the same door over and over again. The background is exactly the same, and all they've done is slightly re-arrange the stuff behind them, and had the actors come in from different angles to create the illusion they're opening different doors. It's SUPER obvious.

Game Night (2018)

Deliberate mistake: When Michelle brings up the photo of "Fake Denzel" on her phone, she says she put it into a hidden folder. Problem? She only presses on her phone once (based on the sound you hear), and has the photo up and filling the screen within about one second. Totally preposterous. Obviously, it was done that way to keep the scene moving quickly... but there's no way a single button press and a timespan of about one second is going to bring up and maximize a photo from a hidden folder on her phone.

Suggested correction: The very faint click you hear could be her phone unlocking, so we don't know how often she taps the screen. That said, yes, it's unlikely she'd be able to access the photo that fast.

I don't understand this correction, because it literally just seems to reinforce the original mistake. Unlocking her phone wouldn't instantly bring up a photo in a hidden folder.

Spawn (1997)

Deliberate mistake: When Violator turns back into Clown in the alley, watch closely. You can see his shadow beneath him for a few seconds as he's transforming, and it doesn't match the transformation of the giant monster into the Clown... it's just Clown's regular shadow from the actor standing on-set. More than likely, it's a shortcut for the effects - they didn't bother rendering a simulated shadow. You have to look kinda close to notice it the first time, but once you see it, it's obvious.

Deliberate mistake: In the Director's Cut (the version most readily available on DVD), there is literally an entire 15-second chunk of the final fight that is repeated twice within 60 seconds. (It's the bit where Duncan and Kell are fighting on the ground, Duncan kicks Kell, then Kell kicks and slices Duncan) It's impossible not to notice, and it's not they're flashing back to what just happened... they just repeat the same 15 seconds of footage, add different sound effects, and assume people won't notice.

Highlander (1986)

Deliberate mistake: There's a bizarre editing gaff in the opening fight of the Director's Cut. At one point, Fasil's sword vanishes (for no real reason) and he starts to do backflips. The scene then cuts away, and when it cuts back, he's suddenly running and has his sword again. A few shots later, he's suddenly doing backflips and has lost his sword again. (It's meant to be Fasil doing the flips.) The editing makes absolutely no sense. It's like they somehow mixed up two different scenes during editing.
