Trivia: Austin Powers is evidently to blame for the more grounded and grim approach of the Daniel Craig Bond films. Craig once quipped in an interview that while he was a fan of creator Mike Myers and the character, the Austin Powers series "f**ked" the Bond franchise with its heavy satire. As a result, he and the producers had to rebuild the franchise, feeling that modern audiences would no longer accept the classic Bond tropes and cliches that Myers had lampooned with the three Austin Powers films.

Trivia: Mike Myers was inspired to create the character while driving home one night. The song "The Look of Love" by Burt Bacharach came on the radio, and he mused to himself "Where have all the swingers gone?" This planted the idea of a 60's swinger struggling in the 90's in Myers head, and this idea for a character eventually became Austin Powers. Myers was also loosely inspired by one night when he jokingly flirted with his wife using an over-the-top fake British accent.

Trivia: Some Spoilers. Around the time "Serenity" was released in theaters, Joss Whedon co-wrote a comic-book entitled "Those Left Behind" that explains the events that occurred between the end of "Firefly" and the start of this film, and answered some leftover questions from the series. In the comic, among other things, the "Blue Hands" finally make their move and attack Serenity, but are eventually thwarted and killed when they are incinerated by Serenity's thrusters, leading the alliance to give their mission to the much more dangerous "Operative." We also learn that Shepherd Book left Serenity after Mal pushed him too far, making him punch Mal in the face. This finally makes him realise that his time on Serenity has hardened him too much and lead him astray from his attempts at a peaceful life, and he decides to leave on good terms with the crew.

Trivia: The date September 20th has some relevance for this franchise. Mal's birthday in this film is given as September 20th of the year 2468. This is a bit of an Easter Egg reference to former "Firefly" staff writer Ben Edlund, who was born on September 20th in the year 1968. (Same day, exactly 500 years apart.) And on top of that, in a bizarre coincidence, "Firefly" also premiered on September 20th in the year 2002.

Trivia: You may have noticed that the man who tries to pull a gun during the opening bank robbery and is later killed out of mercy by Mal looks familiar. It is none other than Glenn Howerton, best known for playing Dennis on the dark comedy series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." This movie was released just a few weeks after "Always Sunny" first premiered.

Trivia: Deadpool briefly mentions that Domino's powers sound like an idea from a "crackpot" who "can't draw feet." Trivia: When Deadpool retrieves the cocaine from Blind Al's apartment, the bags of coke are sitting next to another object labeled "The Cure for Blindness." This is a bit of a callback to the first film, in which Deadpool facetiously told Al that he had cocaine stashed somewhere in the apartment next to "the cure for blindness." Evidently, he literally did have a cure for blindness.

Trivia: It was revealed after the film was released that Ryan Reynolds himself was the voice of Juggernaut, in addition to portraying the facial motion-capturing work for the digital model. They simply deepened his voice in post-production. In the credits, the voice of Juggernaut is listed as "himself".

Trivia: Originally, Jason Statham was interested in reprising his role as Frank Martin, when the film was intended to serve as the start of a prequel trilogy explaining how he became a "transporter." He opted out when the production requested he sign on for a three-film contract in which he would earn less money combined for all three films than he was then making for a single film on any other production. He was also expected to sign on to all three films without even seeing a script for the first installment. He opted out, concerned about the production quality given these strange circumstances, and the film was ultimately retooled from being a prequel to being a quasi-reboot in order to explain the change in Frank Martin's appearance.
