Trivia: Laurence Mason's character Lord Nikon was given the name because of his photographic memory.
Trivia: The boardwalk scenes were filmed on location at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California.
Trivia: In the scene where Alice finds Bill's body hanging on the back of the door to the generator room, the producers purposely did not tell Adrianne King what they were going to do to the body nor did they let her see the body beforehand. When she saw the body during filming it was for the first time. The scream she produced was genuine as it scared her badly. Needless to say, that entire scene was shot in one take.
Trivia: Smith tries to explain to the woman who Bob Marley is by singing a part of the song "I Shot the Sheriff." He also sang this part of the song (with a similar voice imitation) in his role as Will in one of the episodes from the series "Fresh Prince of Bel Air".
Trivia: Red Grant has no dialogue until he first meets Bond. He first speaks in a rich, upper-class English accent. After Grant has revealed his true identity to Bond, his English accent changes into a lower-class Irish accent as he explains the SPECTRE background plot.
Trivia: This was Timothy Dalton's second and last appearance as James Bond. He initially agreed to play Bond for a third time in "GoldenEye" (1995), but resigned from the role in 1994, believing that too much time had passed since "Licence to Kill".
Trivia: The studio and producer Joel Silver reportedly called for major re-writes of the script shortly before shooting began. Many of the actors had signed up based on the original script, titled "Chimera", which contained far less violence and supernatural elements, and instead was a psychological drama about what happens to a salvage crew when they are stranded in the middle of the ocean. Much of the cast wasn't informed that the script had been almost completely altered into a more generic supernatural-horror/slasher film until just before they showed up to begin filming, leaving many of them disheartened and disgruntled.
Trivia: This is Pierce Brosnan's least favourite Bond movie of the four in which he appeared. Brosnan disliked the over-the-top special effects and gadgets, and suggested to the producers that the follow-up should be dark and gritty. After Brosnan left, the series was indeed given a grittier reboot.
Trivia: A great deal of Flint Marko/Sandman's storyline was edited out of the film by the studio due to the long run-time. One scene early in the film showed that the scientists who accidentally created Sandman were racked with guilt when they discovered they might have activated the machine with a person inside of it. Another scene had Sandman visiting a doctor researching his daughter's rare disease whom he had been corresponding with in prison. Yet another scene showed him following his daughter in a park, and morphing into a giant sandcastle that she plays with. And finally, his daughter was going to appear in the final battle, and would appeal to her father to stop hurting people and living a life of crime to get money, as she accepted that she was going to die no matter what. Her words would be what convinced him to seek forgiveness from Peter for accidentally killing Uncle Ben.
Trivia: In the film, Bond says to M, "So you want me to be half-monk, half-hitman." This is a reference to the character John Ballard (played by Daniel Craig) in the 1998 film "Elizabeth".
Trivia: The Korean woman whom Cris calls up during his magic act is actually the real-life wife of Nicolas Cage.
Trivia: Victoria Tennant hated the scene where her character was to be killed off so much that she refused to film it and walked off the set. The scene then had to be done by a stunt double.
Trivia: During the feast in which Christian finds a pubic hair inside of his food, look closely at the drinks on the table. While the camera never calls direct attention to this, if you look closely, Christian's drink is very slightly darker than everyone else's. Earlier in the film, the camera briefly passes over a mural that depicts a woman collecting menstrual blood in a cup. (Along with the image of a woman cutting off pubic hairs, like the one Christian found in his food.) It seems Christian's drink has been laced with something he didn't expect.
Trivia: Cary Joji Fukunaga is the first American to direct an official Bond movie.
Trivia: Blade Runner is based on a novel by Philip K Dick entitled, 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'
