Character mistake: On the game show, Sophia is introduced as a "grandmother of six." According to other episodes, she has at least twelve grandchildren. Phil and his wife have ten. Gloria mentioned that "all her children" (so she has two or more) are practicing professionals.
Revealing mistake: In the opening scene, the girls are watching a movie on a VCR. As the camera pans across the back of the TV and VCR, you can see that there are no cables connecting them.
Other mistake: Rose says that she was "eventually" adopted by the Lindstroms. Rose has previously stated that she lived at the orphanage for eight years. While "eight years" could qualify as "eventually," Rose also says that the Lindstroms took the beef sticks that were left in the basket with her, and that the basket contained cheese and crackers, as well. None of those items have a shelf life of eight years.
The Engagement (a.k.a) Pilot - S1-E1
Other mistake: When Dorothy and Rose go back to Blanche's bedroom to ask her about her engagement to her BF Harry, they use the entrance that is normally used for the lanai. Possible set change.
Other mistake: Notice when Dorothy gets up to talk to the doctor. She's barefoot.
Revealing mistake: Throughout the entire series every time someone is cooking on the stove there's never any steam coming from the cookware. Also looking at the burners, it's an electric oven yet the burners are never orange indicating they never really "cook" food at all.
Character mistake: Sophia tells Dorothy that lying is breaking a commandment, to which Dorothy corrects her by telling her that it's not a commandment. Actually, not lying is in fact a commandment. The biblical quote is "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Whether it's an error on the part of the writers or an intentional mistake for Dorothy, it's still a mistake. Revealing mistake: The "sand" on the beach of the supposedly lonely island Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and the three men stranded on is one solid cloth made of a rubber-like material. It wobbles and bends whenever a character's feet are on-screen.
Visible crew/equipment: At the very end of the scene at Sophia's new apartment, you can see a boom mic move above Dorothy's head.
Plot hole: It shouldn't matter if the neighborhood's got a petition. If the tree in question is on Mrs. Claxton's property then they wouldn't have a say in the city removing it.
Other mistake: There's a lot of talk about Pepe hurting his hands during his last boxing match. Unless there's something I'm missing, boxing gloves should provide adequate protection.
Other mistake: Rose tells a story about her mother having undergone plastic surgery to look like Raymond Massey back when she still lived in St. Olaf. However, we see her mother in an earlier episode and she looked nothing like him.
Factual error: At the end of the episode Rebecca has her baby. When the doctor cuts the cord he hands her to Rebecca all clean and spotless. Babies have a lot of blood on them when they are born.
Answer: Ice makers were a new invention, advertisement purposes.
