New this week Continuity mistake: In the episode where Sophia loses her glasses, Dorothy answers the door and Sophia says "is this 6151 Richmond St?" In the episode where Dorothy has taken up smoking again and sets off the smoke alarm, Blanche and Rose rush into the kitchen, Blanche dials 9-1-1 and says "send a firetruck to 5161 Richmond, I'm on fire."
New this week Continuity mistake: Blanche's attitude towards birthday parties changes throughout the show. Originally, she disliked them, but Rose changed her mind when she invited several men Blanche desired, as in seen in a flashback. In the same episode, the Golden Girls threw a surprise party for her which she was happy about. In a later episode, she hates birthday parties again (with Rose being baffled she doesn't like them), but is happy again at the end of the episode when Rose invites men to her party.
New this week Character mistake: Throughout much of the show, except for a few boyfriends Dorothy has had difficulties finding men to go out with her. Much of the show's humor is based around Dorothy looking unattractive and having no dates, and Sophia often desperately tried to arrange a rendezvous for her daughter. Nevertheless, in this episode, Sophia had no problem at all to find a whole bunch of men that are more than willing to go out with her, and according to the suggestive gestures Dorothy mentions, some of them apparently had a strong sexual interest in her after having seen her. They even offered their services to a cheaper price just to go out with her. Why is it so easy for Sophia to find that many men that eager to meet her daughter all of a sudden?
Character mistake: When all of the ladies are sharing Sophia's bed because there's been a cold snap and she has an electric blanket, Blanche mentions that her bed has never been so cold on a Saturday night. A few minutes later, Dorothy - upset that the other ladies are keeping her awake - states that she has to get up for work "very early in the morning." Dorothy is a substitute teacher, and would not have to be up for work early on a Sunday morning.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end, when Sofia's cake is done, she takes it out of the hot oven using potholders. Less than a minute later, when the men start to conga, you can see her discard the potholders and pick it up with her bare hands. It is a glass pan and still would have been much too hot to hold.
Continuity mistake: In this episode Rose says her cat Fluffy died (as a lie) and Dorothy says "Rose, you've never had a cat, you're allergic." When Blanche and Rose first meet she is holding a cat and looking for a place she and the cat can live. Another episode she says she had a cat named Lindstrom Lindstrom.
Other mistake: A major plot point is Blanche having hurt her back in her gym class, and it is established that she is having a hard time moving. Indeed when Dorothy rushes to find Rose after hearing her scream, Blanche gets up to follow her but due to her injury she moves quite slowly. However, when Dorothy reaches the door, Blanche is right behind her, even though Dorothy did not help her and Blanche cannot move as fast as Dorothy.luke f
Continuity mistake: It is known that Dorothy married Stan because she was pregnant and they were married for 38 years. However, we know Michael is not 38 (in a couple of episodes they state his age as either in his 20's or 30) and in the 2 episodes her daughter is in, she doesn't look to be anywhere near 38 either.
Continuity mistake: In this episode, Blanche was talking about how she learned of her late husband, George's, death. She said she got the phone call late at night and the officer on the phone (chewing potato chips), told her that her husband was killed instantly in a accident. But in another episode, Sophia made a comment about how Blanche was getting a pedicure while her husband was dying in the hospital. Blanche admitted to this, so it was not one of Sophia's smart remarks.
Continuity mistake: In earlier episodes we are told Blanche's middle name is "Marie", such as in the episode, "Wham, Bam, Thank You, Mammy" where in her ex-mammy calls her by her full maiden name (Blanche Marie Hollingsworth). But in this episode, she brings out her diaries to try to locate if she slept with Rose's husband Charlie, and the intials are B.E.D. - which stood for Blanche Elizabeth Devereaux.Sonja Marie
Character mistake: The number of years that Sal has been dead and the number of years that he and Sophia were married, constantly changes. In Season 3 Episode 5, Sophia says that she and Sal were married for 52 years. In other episodes, she says he's been dead anywhere from 22-30 years. If that's the case, given that Sophia is 80 at the start of the show, Sal would have died when she was about 50. Meaning that they would have had to be married since birth to be married over 50 years.
Continuity mistake: The front door of Sophia's former apartment is on the right wall, under the stairs. The fireplace is on the far back wall to the left, next to the foot of the stairs. But in the earlier episode, "A Piece of Cake", the front door is next to the stairs, there is no fireplace, and Sophia's bedroom door is where the front door is in "Clinton Avenue Memoirs".
