The Evil Dead (1981)

Corrected entry: After his somewhat busy night, Ash steps out of the cabin and sees that the sun is finally rising. Behind him the cabin's door which he left open is getting very slowly closed by somebody. (01:19:45)

S.Holmes

Correction: It's an old cabin and has been subjected to the elements for some time, so the door may drift open and shut a little based on worn hinges, small breezes, and its own weight. It doesn't drift shut all the way.

The Evil Dead (1981)

Corrected entry: When Cheryl is drawing the clock, the page flips over, just before she draws the evil dead book. The page that flips should be hanging down, perhaps flapping in the wind, but in the next shot, the page is nicely tucked under the pad. (00:07:55)

Hamster

Correction: It doesn't flip, it is actually torn out of the book by the gusting wind.

Teacher's Pet - S1-E4

Corrected entry: At the end of the episode, "Teachers Pet," Buffy picks Dr. Gregory's glasses from off the floor, opens the closet where his lab coat is hanging and places the glasses in the pocket. As she closes the door, the camera moves to the bottom of the closet and you can see about four or five bug eggs, one of them cracks open and then the show ends. What happened with the eggs?

Correction: We don't know, but there are numerous possibilities. The simplest one is that without the care of their mother, the eggs or the newborns were not able to survive.

Secret Window (2004)

Corrected entry: The setup that Mort has to wait for the magazine to appear in order to prove to "Shooter" that he really did write the story, has several holes. 1)Most obviously, we see that Mort has several copies of all of his books at the country house. A quick look at the first page of the relevant book would have shown which magazine or outlet originally published the story, as is required by copyright law. So all Mort would've had to do is open that page and show "Shooter" something that would have read "This story originally appeared in Ellery Queen, such and such year, etc etc." 2) Barring that, all it would've taken is a quick phone call to the magazine itself and they could've over nighted a copy of that story. Even if we accept what we later find out about Mort and Shooter, there are still way too many unexplored options to make this plausible.

Correction: Mort doesn't pursue these avenues because he subconsciously doesn't want to solve the mystery. He has created for himself a situation with no resolution other than the one his subconscious has already chosen. He will pursue that end and ignore all others.

Evil Dead II (1987)

Corrected entry: After the Henrietta demon entity drags the hillbilly into the cellar, blood explodes out of the trap door. However, the fluid looks nothing at all like blood; it is extremely thin and appears to be dyed water.

DavidK93

Correction: The fluid isn't supposed to be blood - another entry points out that the creators used different colored fluids to represent slime instead of blood in an attempt to get an R rating instead of NC-17. Incidentally, this effort failed.

Army of Darkness (1992)

Corrected entry: After the army of the dead breaks through the main castle door, the humans rush to meet them. If you look carefully, there's an iron gate suspended above the two groups just before they clash. Why didn't the men drop the gate? It would have given them more time.

Correction: More time would not have done any good. The humans aren't trying to stall so that something else happens, they have to destroy all the deadites so they will be safe. The enemy is too close to continue using the artillery and archers.

Show generally

Corrected entry: It has been stated that Joss mentioned Buffy burning down her old school's Gym even though it was never shown in the movie of BtVS to have proper continuity with the original script. But one thing he seemed to totally neglect from the original story is that Buffy gets "cramps" when a Vampire is near. This served as a warning for movie Buffy but TV show Buffy could walk right past one and not feel anything. It seems the only reason this decision was made is to make it easier to get into danger and have more exciting shows.

troy fox

Correction: It's mentioned in Welcome to the Hellmouth that there is a method Slayers can use to detect vampires in the area, but it apparently takes training and discipline that Buffy simply doesn't devote to it. Even Kendra, the ideal Slayer who completes all her studies, hasn't mastered this skill. Also in the movie: vampires don't turn to dust, can fly, need to be invited into any building whatsoever, and Buffy was a senior. Clearly they're not meant to be totally contiguous.

Army of Darkness (1992)

Correction: There are a great number of differences in costume, character, and plot events that differ between these two movies. Just like Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 (which recaps most of Evil Dead in fifteen minutes but ignores several characters and events from the original), Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness are not meant to be contiguous and mistakes like this don't apply.

Signs (2002)

Corrected entry: Later in the movie we hear from the radio/TV that the aliens have been scared out of other countries as the inhabitants have discovered some "primitive methods" of defense. Of course its very unlikely that those countries wouldn't have mentioned the fact that it was water. Then it would only make sense to forward that information to the REST OF THE WORLD along with any newspieces. Is it that hard to say "oh by the way, you can rid yourself of any pesky aliens by using WATER.".

Correction: It's very common for news shows, especially here in the States, to bait the audience by introducing the most important and/or interesting information, then doing a commercial break: "Coming up next, what you don't know about the deadly chemicals in your own home." This is one such example. It's not extremely important to relay this information because for all intents and purposes the invasion is over - the alien ships have left and only a few wounded stragglers who should be quickly overwhelmed by recovering humans remain. The emergency broadcast about water as a weapon went out while our heroes were in the basement.

Signs (2002)

Corrected entry: These aliens are capable of interstellar travel, but they cannot figure out how to get out of a bathroom, with a wooden door and a simple lock?

wizard_of_gore

Correction: Given their advanced technology they can travel across the stars. Without that, they're stuck with much the same physical equipment that humnas are. It would be easy enough to lock a person in a closet that has a deadbolt, even though humans are smart enough to figure out relativity.

Evil Dead II (1987)

Corrected entry: Ash leaves the chainsaw in the room with the rocking chair. Later he gets it in the kitchen to cut of his possessed hand.

Correction: Ash is standing in the hallway leading to the rocking chair when he tosses the chainsaw aside to pick up the shotgun. After his hand is possessed, he runs into the kitchen in the next room, back the way he came. The kitchen just happens to be a branch of the hallway that he was standing in when he tossed it, so it is correctly positioned later.

Paycheck (2003)

Corrected entry: If Michael Jennings saw the future after he built the time machine, he would have only seen his fate with the FBI and whatever came after that. It would have been impossible for him to see himself get shot because a different future was created after he escaped from the room.

Correction: Exactly. By ensuring that a different future would occur, Jennings was able to see that new future in the time viewer. For example, immediately after he put the glasses and cigarettes into the envelope (or even after he thought of doing so), the time viewer would show him escaping the FBI room and what happened after. He had access to the viewer many times over the course of his research.

Paycheck (2003)

Corrected entry: After Jennings fixes the time machine, he goes up to the platform to activate it. He first presses several buttons with his right hand then places his hands on the proper spots. Next he clicks the buttons under his right fingers several times while activating the machine. If his memory of the machine was entirely erased, how does he know how to work it?

Correction: It was pointed out earlier in the movie that the memory erase for the three year period was a chemical process this time, not a physical one. Therefore, he will regain some memories of this period as time goes on. An action that he repeated frequently would be stored in his brain as conditioning, a type of memory that is very difficult to erase - the same way you still know how to ride a bike years later.

Phoenix

Corrected entry: The Zombies in this film can all run at fairly high speed. Running requires some intelligence (considering you have to concentrate and focus when you run). If they are clever enough to do this, I find it hard to believe that all they seem capable of doing the rest of the time is growling, acting dumb and munching on human flesh.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: While there is a definite science to Olympic running, basic running is a fairly simple and largely instinctive action. Though it does take a sense of balance and coordination, most of this is governed by the cerebellum and brain stem, not the cerebrum that controls speech and "higher" brain functions. Besides, the zombies do have some memory of their lives and would recall how to run with muscle memory, the same way you remember how to ride a bike. It ain't rocket science, or even language.

Fight Club (1999)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Marla gives the Narrator her phone number, she writes it on his hand. But after the Narrator's apartment is blown up, he picks up her phone number off the ground on a scrap of paper.

Correction: The apartment blows up in a later scene, and if the narrarator wanted to keep the number permanently he'd have to transfer it to something other than his hand.

Gone - S6-E11

Corrected entry: When Willow is spraying the invisible traffic cone in 'Gone', she only sprays a little bit before leaving to track down the van. When Xander shows Anya the cone later on it's completely coloured.

Shay

Correction: Willow gives Xander the paint can and tells him to take the traffic cone back to the Magic Box. Xander paints the rest so he and Anya can study it.

Phoenix

Tabula Rasa - S6-E8

Corrected entry: Why is the loan shark trying to kill Spike at the start? If he stakes him he's never going to get his kittens. Surely it would be better to torture him with crosses or holy water?

Shay

Correction: If you watch in slowmo you can see that, though the stake was at the proper height for Spike's heart, it was a little wide and would actually have shot behind him. It was a warning to get Spike's attention. Buffy couldn't predict this and acted to protect him anyway.

Phoenix

Correction: We don't see the blade actually enter the demon, so there is no evidence that this demon race bleeds at all. Other demons encountered in, for example, "Life Serial" leave no physical trace when they die.

Phoenix

Correction: Anya says there will be a "postholiday clearance sale." These are rarely advertised, especially by small businesses with minimal advertising budgets - usually it's just a section of the store marked off. The disruption in daily life caused by the musical magic also puts the town into a confused state, so people wouldn't be in a hurry to go shopping and perhaps even Anya might be off her game in terms of salesmanship.

Phoenix

Correction: Given that the Trio are probably unwilling to subject themselves to the same time shifts that Buffy is going through, they have to find a way to monitor her without making themselves vulnerable. Earlier, Warren mentioned all the high-tech monitoring equipment the van is equipped with. Since he also invented the time-shifting devices, he could invent a camera that would stay synchronized in Buffy's time continuum. Such a camera would ignore things outside this continuum as unnecessary distractions, such as other students in normal time.
