Continuity mistake: In the scene early in the movie where Kirk is talking to Sarek the guns on the wall are suddenly rearranged. (00:23:50 - 00:24:45)

Continuity mistake: In the training simulator at the beginning of the film, after Sulu and McCoy have both fallen, McCoy has his head resting on Sulu's hip at first. Then, in the next shot, his head is resting closer to Sulu's knee. (00:05:50)

Continuity mistake: When David and Saavik approach Spock's tube on Genesis, you can see quite a bit of dirt covering the words' red lettering, but when it does another shot of the lettering, it is noticeably cleaner. (00:30:25)

Continuity mistake: When Leroy is in the kitchen talking to Ruby and Fool, the position of the map in his shirt pocket changes a few times in the scene. (00:07:30)

Hamster ★

Revealing mistake: Close to the film's climax, when Doom is showing off his Dip Machine, we see one of the weasels hoisting a canister of Dip up a ladder. If you look close, you can see a large wire pulling the canister up. This was seen in the VHS version and may have been corrected in the DVD, I am unsure. (01:19:20)

Continuity mistake: When Roger jumps out of the chair and through the window in Maroon's office, you can see the glass shatter with jagged edges at the bottom and no clean outline of Roger. The next shot shows the glass cleanly cut in Roger's shape. (00:25:00)

Continuity mistake: When Bob is reaching for the grenade on the table, we can see that there is cocaine all over the table, when the camera view changes to Dick's face on the TV and back again to the table, it's clean. (00:58:48)

Trivia: Director Paul Verhoven makes a cameo appearance in the film when RoboCop arrests Leon in the disco. After Leon kicks RoboCop in the groin and he falls in agony, we cut to a man laughing madly at the camera and waving his arms. That's Paul. (00:56:00)

Continuity mistake: When the bearded man is robbing the convenience store, he demands that the owner opens the safe. Look at the Lite cans on the safe. When seen from the right, there are four cans. When the owner kneels down to try and open it, there are now three. When we cut back to a view from the right there are again four. Finally when the robber is shooting at Robocop there are only two. Trivia: Kirk Thatcher, an associate producer of the film, played the punk on the bus, and also wrote the song ("I Hate You") the punk is listening to on his boombox. (00:43:45)

Continuity mistake: In the beginning when the tracking device is shown, the dot is red and the building outlines are orange. When Dick Jones is holding it later, the dot is white and the outlines are red. (00:30:20 - 01:08:05)

Continuity mistake: When Robocop looks up his old address, his house number is the 500's on Primrose Street, but when he drives by the sign on his street it says he is in the 3000's section. (00:54:15)

Visible crew/equipment: When Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) is killed by Murphy (Peter Weller), Boddicker falls into the steel mill's water, blood spewing from his neck. Sharp eyes are required here to see that there is someone standing against the wall in the background... (01:32:40)

Continuity mistake: When Demon is in the outhouse and the wall is speared the first time you can see the pike coming in above the toilet paper roll. When it cuts the pike is almost below the roll. (00:53:15)

Continuity mistake: When the guy holding the mayor hostage gets thrown out of the window, we see the only two TV cameras near the location follow his fall down to the ground. A few seconds later on the news though, the footage is the same shot we saw in the film, staying focused on the window. (00:39:55)

Revealing mistake: When Arnold throws the bad guy through the glass door at the dress shop, it shatters a split second prior to him going through it. (00:55:40)

Ian Hunt

Continuity mistake: In the film Tommy tosses the alien mask that he wore to scare Reggie on his bed and the mask slides down the wall and is all crinkled up. In the following shots Tommy takes out another mask and you can see the alien mask now laying flat on his bed and away from the wall. (00:13:10)

Factual error: The film takes place in Detroit, but it is glaringly obvious that it was shot in Dallas. First of all, in the early scene where Murphy chases Boddicker's gang on the highway, Reunion Tower, one of Dallas's most famous landmarks, is visible in the background. Much of Dallas's skyline is also visible in the final scene where Robocop confronts Dick Jones in the OCP boardroom. (00:15:15)

Continuity mistake: When Benedict pulls Leo's finger at the funeral to start the timer on the wristwatch, you can see that the timer was pre-set for ten minutes on the upper part of the display and the countdown is in the lower part of the display. There are two more shots of the countdown on the watch. First at 3:32 left when Jack knocks out the doctor and then at about 30 seconds left over the tar pits. Both of these shots show that a piece of silver tape has been applied to the upper half of the display, probably to cover a lower starting count so they wouldn't have to wait 10 minutes between shots. Continuity mistake: When Rand is showing the old man his invention, he pulls the toothbrush up, and it is facing away from him. When the shot changes the toothbrush is now facing him. (00:02:30)
