Trivia: Daito's personal vehicle in the OASIS is the Mach 5 from Speed Racer. You can see it in the background as he is receiving the Copper Key, and it is also used in the final battle. (00:33:45)

Trivia: Sorrento goes into the Oasis to meet with I-R0k to get the artifact from him. When he emerges from the portal, there is a downed space craft in flames behind him. This is one of the alien space ships from the original 1953 War of the Worlds film. These ships known as "The Flying Machines" or "Tripods". (00:31:00)

Trivia: After buying the Holy Hand Grenade in the shop, Parzival excitedly runs around that display of other items. One such item is the Chucky doll from Child's Play complete with the large kitchen knife iconic to him. This item is also used in the final battle and seen taking out several Sixers just by itself. Trivia: Parzival goes on a shopping spree with Aech after he wins the money from finding the first key. As they are walking up to the Holy Hand Grenade in the shop, they walk between 4 different game themed item stands. On the right is Overwatch complete with a hologram of Tracer, and a stand for Dungeons and Dragons. On the left there is a stand for the Borderlands game series complete with the Claptrap robot. Next to that is the Halo stand, showing off a Spartan with various Halo weapons including the MA5D Assault Rifle. (00:29:55)

Trivia: Among the other races and cars in the Manhattan race, there is a red 1958 Plymouth Fury. This is the sentient car known as Christine from the horror film and book of the same name. The killer car is seen several times through out the race, with the best view of it being right after the race starts and Aech drives past the camera in her Bigfoot, with Christine right behind Aech. Trivia: After Wade's punched by his Aunt's boyfriend, he's lying on his makeshift bed on top of the washing machine as he's thinking about what Art3mis had said to him about Halliday making rules. He leans forward and pulls his OASIS visor out of his backpack, and on it is the logo for the classic arcade game Joust. In the book of Ready Player One, the first challenge wasn't a race like in the movie, but rather having to beat a certain DnD character in a game of Joust to get the copper key. Wade was the first to be able to do so. (00:22:35)

Trivia: After Wade comes home and is confronted by his aunt's boyfriend who zeroed out "because of your broke ass gloves", he slaps Wade across the face with the gloves and shakes them. If you look closely, you can see the Batman logo on the gloves. Also a few moments later when Wade is pulling his OASIS visor out of his backpack, the logo appears on the side of them. (00:20:35)

Trivia: While Parzival is showing off Aech's shrunken ships to Art3mis, there are some full ships in the background. One of which is Lone Star's RV from Spaceballs seen while Parzival is showing off the ships in the lunchbox. The clearest view of it is when Art3mis fixes Parzival's hair by the Iron Giant's legs. Trivia: In Aech's workshop, Art3mis quizzes Parzival about his knowledge of Jams Halliday, and she asks him what his favorite shooter is and who he likes playing as. The response is Goldeneye, which was the game that popularized the first person shooter as a genre on consoles. He states that Halliday's favorite character to play as was Odd Job, who is by far the most infamous character to play as in multiplayer on that game. Due to Odd Job's much shorter stature and build than the rest of the characters, it made it very difficult for the auto aim feature in the game to hit him. This gave anybody playing as Odd Job a very very unfair advantage. (00:18:15)

Trivia: After Parzival and Aech take Art3mis to Aech's workshop to fix her bike, she runs up to the torso of the Iron Giant that Aech is building that later plays a big part in the final battle of the movie. The Iron Giant is positioned and stored in the warehouse almost the same way as how in the Iron Giant movie when Dean placed pieces of junk on the Iron Giant and had him sit in his warehouse pretending to be art to trick the military into thinking he was a fake. Trivia: During the race after going through China Town, Parsival looks up to see King Kong. King Kong is hanging off the side of the Empire State Building with early biplanes circling around him, recreating the famous scene from the classing King Kong movie. (00:14:55)

Trivia: In the race, Art3mis gets side swiped by a Sixer and skids to a stop as they pass by a movie theater in the city. On the billboard for the theater it shows "Schwarzenegger Jack Slater III". This is a reference to the 1993 film Last Action Hero, where in it Schwarzenegger plays a movie character inside a movie known as the Jack Slater series with the film's protagonist, getting sucked inside the Jack Slater IV film with a magic ticket. The start of the film shows Danny going to see Jack Slater III and the billboard in Ready Player one is nearly identical to the one in the Last Action Hero movie except without the word "is" after Schwarzenegger. Trivia: Once Parzival enters the portal taking him to the race, the camera pans over the vehicles and you can see the A-Team van in the line up. You get a more clear view of it when the bridge comes out and connects to the street they are on. And then once again as the cars are reaching the "hotwheels" jump in the race, the van is on the DeLorean's left. (00:10:30 - 00:12:30)

Trivia: The car that Parzival uses in the race is the DeLorean, complete with all it's customization and advances, from the Back to the Future movies. Steven Spielberg, the director of Ready Player One, was also the Executive Producer of the Back to the Future trilogy with his company Amblin Entertainment. Spielberg only allowed the DeLorean to appear as a reference and tribute to BTTF director Robert Zemeckis, rather than himself. Despite Spielberg's overwhelming impact on pop culture throughout the decades, direct Spielberg references were rather deliberately omitted from "Ready Player One" by Spielberg himself. Ironically, he intended to include references to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (Spielberg's second blockbuster after "Jaws"), but he couldn't negotiate a licensing agreement with Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros. Trivia: As Parzival is approaching Aech at the race and asks how she got there before him, there is a blue ninja walking behind Aech's monster truck. This is Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat in his latest design from Mortal Kombat X. (00:11:25)

Trivia: In the video that Halliday left behind after his death, you see floral arrangements around his coffin that are in the shape of the Star Trek's Federation symbol and one of the Enterprise. But the really cool thing is his coffin is actually a photon torpedo, exactly like Spock was put in after his death at the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Complete with the blue Federation flag draped over the end of it. (00:08:05)

Trivia: When Wade is talking about how when you die in the game, you lose everything you ever worked for, there is one shot of a little girl throwing her OASIS goggles off and screaming in a fit of rage. Behind her on the wall is a poster for the 1982 game, Donkey Kong Junior. Also behind her you can see a blue Care Bear plush toy on her bed, as well as some small Care Bear figurines on the shelf against the wall to the right. (00:06:10)

Trivia: After Aech picks up the EM-1 Rail Gun, she zooms in on a fight in the distance where their friends Daito and Sho are fighting. The yellow ninja that Daito kicks in the face holding an ax is Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat game franchise. (00:05:50)

Trivia: As Parzival tells Aech that the race is starting in 10 minutes, you can see two of the Ninja Turtles (Raphael and Leonardo) in the 2014 reboot style walking behind him. The 2014 Ninja Turtles also appear in the final battle for the last key. (00:07:05)
