Revealing mistake: When Tara Reid is being slapped around, pushed and tossed out of the cabin, we can see that it's a stunt double, by the dark hair at the front where the white wig has slipped back, exposing the double's dark hair.

Continuity mistake: Right at the end, the insurance man gives Charlotte Jewel Mayhew's letter and in the next shot of him, his hands are empty. But in the following shot he's holding the letter again.

Continuity mistake: When Charlotte shoots Drew, her hair is in plaits that are on top of her head, but as time progresses so does her hair. When they are disposing of the body, her hair is down; and when she enters the house, it is completely down and brushed out.

Revealing mistake: When Miriam pushes Velma around in the hall, Velma collides with a wobbly banister - one that won't hurt Agnes Moorehead, the actress playing Velma.

Continuity mistake: Near the end, Velma wants to take Charlotte away from Miriam and Drew; Velma handles the needle and syringe on the bedside table and puts them at the back, but when Miriam comes back the needle and syringe are back in their original spot.

Question: I've been puzzling over this for decades: who smashes the mirrors in the music room? Is it Charlotte, in a drug-induced state - that would explain the marks on her arm, pretty bad ones, too - but she loves the house, she wouldn't hurt it? Or is it Drew, and they - he and Miriam - imply she did it, to make Charlotte think she's crazier than she already is? It can't be Miriam - she was in bed, asleep.

Plot hole: The local newspaperman points out Miriam to the insurance man before she gets out of the car, and the car is across the street - there's no way he could know it was her before she got out of the car.

Continuity mistake: At the beach house, Catherine is cutting up a large piece of ice with an ice pick. Depending on the direction of the camera, the ice changes size: in one shot it's all together; but in the next shot there's a large chunk pushed to the left of her.

Continuity mistake: When the detectives ask Catherine to go in for questioning, she has her hair down. Then, a minute later, she comes out with her hair up. Problems: one, there's no way Catherine could do that on her own, and no-one else is in the house; two, even if she could it would take much more than a minute, say thirty minutes.

Continuity mistake: When Nick and Gus are waiting for Catherine to get changed, out of the corner of his eye, Nick sees Catherine step, naked, into a white dress, then, again, she steps into the same dress.
