Dark Shadows (1966)

Show generally

Revealing mistake: 1967, episode 86: Roger is late for a meeting because actor Louis Edmonds, forgetting he had another scene, had gone to his dressing room and undressed. Because it was "live tape," the other actors had to awkwardly ad lib until Edmonds could throw on a shirt and be hustled onto the set, whereupon one camera zoomed in tight on him and stays there for his solo shot making a toast. You can hear the stress in the other actors' voices as they stifle laughter. They're trying to play an oh-so-serious scene with an actor wearing a shirt, a tie, and boxer shorts.

The Night of the Ready-Made Corpse - S2-E11

Revealing mistake: The town of Wickenberg has very peculiar sunlight: it casts shadows in several directions at once. Also notable is the far end of its main street, where a distinct line of demarcation reveals the presence of a painted studio backdrop. (00:00:10)

Revealing mistake: When the wheel breaks and the coach crashes, it is visibly empty. The five passengers who were riding inside have disappeared. (00:12:15)

Revealing mistake: Solo's stunt double is easy to spot in the scene where he rappels down the cliff and jumps into the truck bed. The double has quite a bit more hair. (01:12:30)

The Night of the Eccentrics - S2-E1

Revealing mistake: Tony throws two knives at West - but on the wall where the knives hit, the rectangular openings from which the blades actually emerge are delineated beforehand. Happens again a few scenes later, where slots cut in the door are already there before the knives are thrown. [Spoiler: It's inconsequential to the "revealing" error, but if you play the scene in slow motion, you can see that both times, the knives pop through from the back of the "wall." This is also how the carnival trick is performed.] (00:17:05)

And Whose Little Baby Are You? - S4-E18

Revealing mistake: The $100 bills Diamond picks up from the table are very obviously not real. The stage money's rather frilly design pattern looks vaguely like some currency from the 19th Century, but it doesn't resemble anything in circulation in the 1950s. (00:06:30)

Paniolo - S3-E15

Revealing mistake: When McGarrett and the modern-day posse find Frank's euthanized horse, the "dead" animal is quite visibly (and vigorously) breathing. (00:45:20)

The Popskull - S4-E17

Revealing mistake: When Diamond is driving with Ted, his wife and their dog in his convertible, the rear-view mirror, which was there earlier, is missing. The shaky rear-screen projection makes it even more obvious that the car is a studio mock-up with the mirror removed to make the actors' faces more visible.

Danger Man (1964)

English Lady Takes Lodgers - S2-E5

Revealing mistake: At Lisbon airport, when Drake and Emma are sitting in the car, the windscreen is rather conspicuously missing, probably removed to facilitate a better camera shot. The missing glass reappears a few scenes later, though, in time for Drake to drive off in the car. (00:26:30)

Beautiful Screamer - S3-E12

Revealing mistake: When Sally is driving the blue station wagon full of singing kids, several light reflections on the side of the car never move at all, revealing that it's really a stationary mock-up sitting on a soundstage. (00:42:30)

The Gladiators - S3-E27

Revealing mistake: The ground on the dueling field at the end is not only unnaturally flat, there are concrete seams visible in some spots, showing through the artificial turf. (00:24:30)

The Man Who Wouldn't Talk - S2-E3

Revealing mistake: Maria's Spanish accent keeps disappearing, giving way to the actress' natural American accent, throughout the episode. Her supposedly Spanish aunt's accent is never Spanish to begin with - it's identifiably Austrian. (00:08:00)

Something to Get Hung About - S2-E6

Revealing mistake: When Heyes rides away from the hotel in the beginning, he's passed on the street by a tall man in a white shirt riding a black horse and slouching in the saddle. When the shot cuts back to the front of the hotel, the same extra on the same horse rides by again, going in the opposite direction. (00:02:20)
