Batman (1966)

Batman mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Batman brings the Penguin to the Batcave the Batmobile skids to a stop on the gray floor. It then begins to rotate in the next shot and it's now on a black platform. When the Penguin emerges from the car and walks toward the rear of it, the platform is obviously gone. (01:06:10)

Batman (1966)

Revealing mistake: When the Batmobile emerges from the Batcave for the first time, the guard rail lays down and the car turns toward our right, disappearing in a cloud of dust. Watching carefully reveals the dust is being kicked up because the car was over-accelerated by the stunt driver, and spun out, heading back into the roadside brush. (00:03:45)

Batman (1966)

Batman mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile arrives on the pier, it's parked with its front end facing open ocean (against the orange contraption on the dock) and its tail toward dry land. But when Batman and Robin return and phone the Navy, the car has reversed direction (tail now against the contraption). It's not likely Batman would arrive back at the pier, start the car, turn it around, park in the same spot, shut the car off, reopen the doors and then make a call, only to then drive away. Batman (1966)

Batman mistake picture

Revealing mistake: All the rear shots of the Batmobile in motion show flames emitted from the afterburner. But in the shot of it leaving the pier, the flames go out a few moments before the shot ends. The effects equipment failed or ran out of fuel. (00:30:40)

Batman (1966)

Other mistake: When Batman and Robin watch the Polaris missile being launched from Penguin's submarine, they are facing toward dry land, while the ocean is behind them. (00:29:50)

Batman (1966)

Batman mistake picture

Continuity mistake: As the Batmobile arrives at the pier, it turns into a parking space, one of two available between a green VW Beetle and a white station wagon. In the close-up as Batman and Robin exit the car, the spaces on both sides of the Batmobile are empty. Judging by the location of the "Moby Dick" sign at the edge of the pier, the white wagon has disappeared. (00:59:05)

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Mad Max 2 mistake picture

Continuity mistake: The one shot that shows Max's car approaching and colliding with the rear of the landau coupe in the opening chase scene is reversed. The car has one door mirror on the driver's side (right) but here we see the mirror on the left, as is the car's driver. The blower's belt is on the right side when it should be on the left. Mad Max (1979)

Mad Max mistake picture

Continuity mistake: During the opening chase sequence, one police car (March Hare) is behind Nightrider while another (Big Bopper) is on another roadway attempting to join the chase. Big Bopper is wearing an air dam beneath the front bumper, while March Hare is not. But for a few shots, we see March Hare does have an air dam. It is seen when March Hare is first shown from the front, in the distance behind Nightrider, then again when both Hare and Bopper are shown right behind Nightrider as they approach the boy in the road. It is also present when Big Booper spins and we see March Hare pass, viewed through Bopper's windshield. (00:03:10 - 00:07:10)

Thr3e (2006)

Factual error: At the start of the movie, Peters attempts to save her brother from a car bomb. He is bound in the driver seat, and on the steering wheel is at least 5 sticks of dynamite and a digital timer. Just before it explodes, Peters is reaching into the car, grabbing for her brother, and her face is at the open window. The screen goes white as the blast occurs. We next see Peters five months later, wearing bandages on her hands. Five sticks of TNT exploding within 24 inches of one's face will disassemble you, your brother, his car and a significant amount of ancillary scenery. You don't go to work five months later and you don't have hands to wear bandages.

Rambo (2008)

Factual error: An unexploded British 'Tallboy' bomb from World War II is found in the jungles of Burma. First, no Tallboy bomb was ever dropped in Burma. Further, the purpose of the Tallboy is to quake the earth to shake concrete buildings down, so dropping one in Burma's jungle would be pointless. Lastly, if a Tallboy had indeed been dropped, it falls at great speed and is hardened to penetrate concrete structures, embed itself below them, then detonate. It would have been underground, not tangled in branches above ground as if made of balsa wood, for Rambo to easily find.

American Gangster (2007)

Continuity mistake: During the Bronco-following scenes, the silver Cadillac goes back and forth between having (during interior shots) and not having an antenna on the fender on Richie's side of the Cadillac. This is because the interior scenes were filmed using a Ford Torino, not the Cadillac. (01:00:45)

American Gangster (2007)

Factual error: As Crowe follows the man with the money bag, they cross a street and we see a white Dodge van of mid-1990s vintage parked at the curb. Note the wrap-around tail lights and the high-mounted center brake light above the rear window - a feature not on vans until after 1990. (01:01:45)

American Gangster (2007)

Factual error: During the 1970 portion of the film, Crowe follows a guy driving a Ford Bronco. As they make a left turn, a 1973 or later Chevy Monte Carlo is parked at the curb. (01:01:40)

Continuity mistake: As Richie and his partner watch the red Bronco leave the car wash, we see that the driver's door window is about one-third up from the bottom. But as the Cadillac starts moving, the window is fully open. (01:00:40)

American Gangster (2007)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: The ambulance that the junkie cop leaps out of is a mid-1980s GMC (note the 4 square headlamps), though the film takes place in 1971. (00:35:55)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: When Frank puts coins in the pay phone, a blue label states it is a NYNEX phone. It is 1970, yet NYNEX wasn't formed until 1984. (00:20:45)

Top Gun (1986)

Continuity mistake: When we are first introduced to Maverick and Goose, their Tomcat crosses the screen, right to left, in close-up, slowly. It's nose is marked 203. Then we see the other Tomcat flying with them, and it is number 114, and its crew is Cougar and Merlin. But all the shots after this place Maverick and Goose in 114. (00:04:35)

Dan in Real Life (2007)

Dan in Real Life mistake picture

Factual error: The license plates on Dan's car are very inaccurate fakes. The colors especially are way off. Certainly, the makers may use a fake sequence of characters the same way "555" phone numbers are, but the styling of the plate should look right. Real NJ plates are a pale yellow along the top 1/4 that fades to a very pale tan by halfway down. Dan's plate is a bright yellow (nearly orange) at the top and the rest is white. The numerals are also the wrong typeface. The mistake is made more obvious by the fact that real New Jersey plates are seen in the early portion of the film on other cars.

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Continuity mistake: There are two F-14s that deal with the yacht and the two Zeros. They are respectively numbered 202 and 203 prominently on both sides of their forward fuselages. But when one fires a missile to down the second Zero, suddenly it is number 200, a jet that hasn't been launched. (00:50:25)
