Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Spock is kneeling in his quarters, talking with Kirk, a shot facing Spock's front shows that the bottom of the lighted mirror on the wall is behind his head. In the next side shot, it's not there as he is now much further from the wall and the mirror is out of the shot at right. The angle of the second shot does not excuse the mistake- the mirror should still be visible at the new angle. (Director's Cut DVD). (00:39:30)

Continuity mistake: When Engineering is taking damage and the trainees are fleeing, Scotty's nephew goes to the aid of an injured crew member. A containment bulkhead is lowering to seal the compartment as he approaches it and as the shot ends, the bottom of the door has reached the lowest edge of the round collar at the left of the screen. Moments later, the actual rescue is shown while the door is lowering through the same area as before- having started higher than it was when the prior shot ended. The change in camera angle is not creating an optical illusion. (Director's Cut DVD). (00:50:35)

Continuity mistake: When Scotty's nephew dies in Sick Bay, McCoy is holding him up a bit. The wide shot shows Mccoy's thumb is up near the young man's ear, but close-ups of the boy show the thumb isn't there because McCoy's hand is lower on his back. (Director's Cut DVD). (00:58:15)

Continuity mistake: When Scotty hits his head and collapses in a passageway, he's knocked out and lies prone on the floor with his head closer to the camera than the base of the round archway he is lying near is. When Sulu checks on him, his head is now through the archway- a change in his position of about a foot. (01:01:20 - 01:01:55)

Continuity mistake: When Sybok makes his speech to the entire Enterprise crew, he begins with his robe conspicuously open, the lapels unrolled and ragged-edged, and it hangs low on his back, while his hands are at his belt. The scene cuts away for a moment, then back to a close up that shows the robe is gathered very high on him- square shouldered, and the lapel area neatly rolled. (00:57:50)

Continuity mistake: When Sybok and the others finally meet 'God', Spock sits against a rock after being struck down. His right arm is down, hand on the ground in a wide shot as 'God' says "a vision you created". Kirk is shown with his right hand on the ground, resting on his right rump. The shot goes to a close-up of Spock, and his right arm is suddenly across his raised knee with no time to have moved there. Then the shot is on Kirk, who is suddenly on his left rump and hand with less than one second to have made the change. (01:30:20)

Continuity mistake: When Sybok is alone with Kirk, McCoy and Spock, revealing their hidden 'pain', his robe is constantly reshaping itself from shot to shot. At one point, when McCoy grabs Sybok, the robe unwraps from Sybok's left shoulder, but is wrapped around him again seconds later. This continues noticeably through the entire scene. (01:06:55)

Video

Visible crew/equipment: In the elevator shaft/rocket boot sequence, the 'arm' of the lift device that is actually holding Spock casts a strong shadow on the wall to our right of Spock, indicating the arm goes from Spock's back to the black vertical slot in the right wall. It is most visible as Spock first lowers into view next to Kirk. (01:02:40)

Trivia: Classic car nuts will find it humorous that a whole bunch of reproduction Chevrolet L-88 hood scoops are used as hatchway doors to the lifepods during the auto-destruct sequence, most obviously as they slam shut in close-up. (01:24:15)

Vanishing Point (1971)

Vanishing Point mistake picture

Epiphanies - S2-E13

Continuity mistake: Episode 2-13, 'Epiphanies': When Baltar is led by the wrist along a corridor by Number Six, two crewmen pass Baltar on his left, headed the other way. The shot from behind Baltar places the crewmen immediately to Baltar's left when the shot is cut to a shot looking in the opposite direction as Baltar approaches the camera and the crewmen are now far behind Baltar, instantly. He is speaking continuously before and after this shot change, so there is no 'time passage' between the shots.

The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: During the first chase, interior shots looking rearward from the blue LTD show that the trunk lid hinges are sticking up and several exterior shots of the car show the trunk lid is already gone, all long before the lid is shot off. (00:09:05)

The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: Throughout the final chase, the gray Firebird has a 'shaker' hood scoop, which has a solid, tapered front (air gets in through the backside). But just as the car and red truck charge each other, a forward shot from inside the car shows we can see through the scoop, which is apparently broken, when it was perfect seconds before with no collisions since. The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: When Ryan is at the bus station to get the bag, he halts and looks through the large room as an older man is pushing a luggage cart away from Ryan. A conductor is walking toward the older man while the chairs closest to the black waste basket are empty. The shot changes to a close-up of Ryan for two seconds, then back to the same view, and the old guy and cart are now too far away, the conductor has vanished and two people are seated in those same chairs, one of whom is resting his legs on the relocated waste basket. Continuity mistake: When Ryan is proving his skills with the orange Mercedes, the driver's door mirror is missing before it strikes the water valve, yet is back moments later. (00:36:25)

The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: When the driver disposes of the blue LTD by using a magnetic crane to drop it on a scrap heap, several mistakes are present when the car is found by police. The rear license plate and all the wheel covers are gone, a front plate mount is now on the car where none was during the chase, and the car is very near the steel frame structure when it was dropped far from it earlier. The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: When the motorcyclist arrives and raises his face mask where the one bad guy lays dead, his point of view shows the pistol lies 'higher' in relation to the dead man's hand. But in a wider shot from the opposite angle as he begins to ride away, the pistol lies 'below' the hand. (00:53:50)

The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: In the final chase, when the gray Firebird runs into a stockpile, and backs away from it, the wide shot shows the driver's door mirror's head is angled properly, but the tight shot immediately after, shows it is very askew, then a wide shot of the car turning right and heading away shows the mirror back in proper position. The Driver (1978)

Visible crew/equipment: After taking the red pickup truck, there's a shot looking forward through the cab as Ryan drives away. You can see the tall black camera rig reflected in the cab's rear glass. (00:53:10)

The Driver (1978)

Continuity mistake: As the gray Firebird and red truck charge at each other at the end of the final chase, we see from the red truck's view that the Firebird's two amber front lights are properly mounted below the bumper. But as the car turns toward the ramp, a shot from above the ramp shows the driver-side amber light is hanging loosely by its wire. (01:21:15)
