Pet Sematary (1989)

Corrected entry: It seems that the neighbour's house which Louis sets on fire in the end is allowed to burn for hours, right to the ground. How come? Even considering there are no other inhabitants in the area, that road right between of the two houses has traffic all the time.

S.Holmes

Correction: The book and movie implies that there is some kind of "evilness" on this road, on the houses, perhaps the whole town. It is what prevented Gage from being killed, it is what brings back the dead and makes the deceased "soured inside", it's what causes all the grief, it is what has destroyed people's lives since the Indians cursed the land. It is implied from the beginning that it is a strong force. It is entirely possible that the evil could prevent anyone or anything from stopping the home from burning, including the "convenience" of no one being on that road when a house that has had horror occur in it starts to burn.

Lethal Weapon (1987)

Corrected entry: After having visited Murtaugh's house and family for the first time, Riggs tells him outside a story from Vietnam, how he "shot a man from 1000 yards in the windy weather" and adds: "That's the only thing I ever been good at." Talk about understatement. Of course he's nothing else but martial arts expert, ladykiller, wisecracking innocent people's life saviour and bad boys' biggest nightmare who can make it through almost impossible situations.

S.Holmes

Correction: Not really trivia. Riggs thinks lowly of himself. thinking that he is only good at one thing, killing no less, upholds his belief.

Blow (2001)

Correction: The visit from his daughter is an imagined one. He may have wished to imagine his daughter in a suspended state of ageless youth.

Firewall (2006)

Corrected entry: At the end, when Jack rushes to the compound where the bad guys have his family hidden, he's doing at least 40km/hour before hitting one baddie and right after a shack head-on without his seat-belt on. The car even catches fire. He doesn't seem to get hurt one bit which is simply impossible.

S.Holmes

Correction: Bleeding, having to regain himself, both in and after exiting the car, etc, is some how "not hurt" in your book?

Scanners (1981)

Corrected entry: In the opening scene where Cameron Vale gets his hand shot with a tranquilizer dart, he fails to react like anyone else would: pull that dart off immediately. He just watches it sticking out of his hand for a minute or so before passing out.

S.Holmes

Correction: He is most likely in shock, which causes your muscles to freeze up, and can also prevents you from making rational decisions. Much like a "deer in the headlights" scenario, where the animal does not instinctively move, but rather stands still in the path of a car.

Jazetopher

Corrected entry: "Logic is boring", said Hitchcock. Some things you still can't ignore, like the scene where Roger Thornhill is kidnapped in the very beginning of this film. What about those people Thornhill's having lunch with? Wouldn't they had wondered where their reliable business-associate disappears all of a sudden and later come forward and give some credit to his story on their part?

S.Holmes

Correction: All they know is that he left the table and didn't return. How could they possibly add credibility to his story?

Corrected entry: Bond and Peter Franks-character change terrible blows on each other during their fight in the lift. In addition their heads and other body parts are rammed against shattering glasses all the time. No cuts, no bruises, no blood. Impossible.

S.Holmes

Correction: The notes on the "submission" page specifically says that suspension of disbelief has to be factored in, and uses action heroes' impossible stamina as an example. As this is a common movie convention, it is not considered a mistake.

Twotall

Corrected entry: When Bond is leaving Tatiana alone in the train compartment for the first time, he asks her to lock the door and says he'll knock the door three times as he returns, so she'll know it's him. Now, isn't the three knocks just what a lot of people do by nature? Not very clever, secret spy-tactics that one.

S.Holmes

Correction: Bond obviously means he will make three pronounced knocks with a gap between each one. When people usually knock, they knock quickly with no pauses inbetween.

The Fury (1978)

Corrected entry: I have watched the film's opening scene a dozen times or so, and I still can't really make out what is happening. Which arabs are shooting which? Are they all after Kirk Douglas or just some? Just how does Douglas character survive that explosion on a boat and after shooting Cassavetes' arm, manage to escape from the beach? Pretty much the story of the whole movie; looks good? Yes. Makes sense? Hardly.

S.Holmes

Correction: All the Arabs are working for Cassavete's- though they might not know it. He did it so that he could film it and later use it to enfuriate the son. This would give him added hatred that they could use it against Arabs. Brainwashing. I can't explain the boat.

Midnight Express (1978)

Corrected entry: What makes Billy so sure (at least he looks very relieved after the famous, sweaty scene at Istanbul Airport) he won't have any problems dealing with the U.S.customs officers? Especially coming from a known "drug country" such as Turkey?

S.Holmes

Correction: Being caught in Turkey would be a lot worse for him than being caught in the US. Getting out of the country would be the first step, it's not strange that he relaxes for a while after believing to have gotten out.

Bonnie and Clyde (1967)

Correction: Clyde was never impotent or "bi-sexual" The rumor of being bi-sexual started just after the movie was made. W.D.Jones addressed this during an interview with Playboy magazine.

The Evil Dead (1981)

Corrected entry: After his somewhat busy night, Ash steps out of the cabin and sees that the sun is finally rising. Behind him the cabin's door which he left open is getting very slowly closed by somebody. (01:19:45)

S.Holmes

Correction: It's an old cabin and has been subjected to the elements for some time, so the door may drift open and shut a little based on worn hinges, small breezes, and its own weight. It doesn't drift shut all the way.

Phoenix

Corrected entry: In the final showdown, earth people are rightly amazed by their first confrontation with the alien spaceships and finally their passengers as well. But since they have (probably for years) prepared and trained a group of astronauts ready to attend the first alien/human space-voyage in history, why do they look so surprised every time a new "wave" of alien ships appear? Aren't they expecting or at least hoping that one of them would land?

S.Holmes

Correction: They are surprised and amazed at the number and diversity of the different types of spaceships. They are also a little 'surprised' that they are actually seeing what they hoped they would find.

Die Hard (1988)

Corrected entry: I can't understand why it takes ages for the police to find out that there really are a certain amount of hostages, who were having a Christmas party? There must be hundreds of relatives and friends who would have called the police, some of them even come in person to the scene and confirm McClane's information as correct after the newsbreak.

S.Holmes

Correction: Not much time passes between the partygoers being taken hostage and the police finding out. Certainly not enough time for anyone to have decide that their loved one should be home by now and called the police. It was a party after all, and people sometimes come home late from parties.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Corrected entry: What's the matter with Papagallo in the end? Just before Humongous closes in for kill right behind him, he shouts to Feral Kid (who's still of course in the tanker's cabin with Max): "Come on, kid. It's all over." and so on, though all around him there are still numerous marauders alive and well, let alone the Big Boss, Humongous, his killer.

S.Holmes

Correction: He understood the tanker was a decoy. He may have decided that enough time had elapsed for the rest of the compound to make their escape. He could have been getting ready to break away from the tanker and wanted to take the kid with him.

Outland (1981)

Corrected entry: Why doesn't Marshall simply send request for help to Earth, after he finds out the foul play that is corrupting even the "Io PD"?

S.Holmes

Correction: At the end he sends a message to his wife, something about "looking forward to sleeping with you for a year".(A year to get to Io would be about right with the tech we have now, and the movie doesn't really show any radically advanced technology.) If it takes a year to get honest cops there, what's the point?

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: When hiding behind the rocks and looking at Mordor, Frodo and Sam are more than willing to make a run through the black gate behind the entering column of soldiers. How on earth might they get in unnoticed, even assuming they somehow would manage to make it as far as to the gate despite the guards (which simply must exist) watching above?

S.Holmes

Correction: That's part of the point of the scene - there IS virtually no hope, but they have to do something. In the book, Frodo puts it this way: 'I am commanded to go to the land of Mordor, and therefore I shall go. If there is only one way, then I must take it. What comes after must come after.' Until Gollum tells them otherwise, both hobbits only know of the one entrance.

STP

Corrected entry: So the rebels have no rockets or missiles (they have a photon-gun that can reach space and drop Star Cruisers though) to defend their base and main reactor against those AT-AT's?

S.Holmes

Correction: Missles and rockets are non-reuseable. Supplies are not easy to come by for the Rebellion, so why would they base their defense on a resourse that could quickly be depleted? Also, with technology to guide photon torpedos and concussion missiles, you think they would be able to make an anti-rocket laser to pick off incoming projectiles, considering standard rockets or missiles move in straight lines.

Corrected entry: Why do those fighters attack AT-AT's head-on, in the middle of a crossfire? Why not from the sides? And who forgot in the engineering department to add some rockets and missiles to their weaponry?

S.Holmes

Correction: Perhaps the AT-AT's are more vulnerable head on, they are very thickly armor plated on the sides. And who's to say that snow speeders are equipped to carry missiles?
