Bruce Almighty (2003)

Corrected entry: God tells Bruce he can't mess with free will. However, he does when he makes Evan say lots of crazy stuff on TV.

MikeH

Correction: He doesn't change Evan's mind such to make him want to say the gargled messages, he's merely controlling Evan's mouth as opposed to changing his thoughts. His will remains unchanged. On the other hand, forcing Grace to love him would be different than simply forcing her to utter the phrase "I love you" without her meaning it.

Except that Bruce is making Evan say gibberish against his own free will.

Free will is based in the mind. Bruce is only controlling Evan's body.

LorgSkyegon

I think it could be argued either way. Bruce was controlling Evan physically (in addition to the gibberish he makes his voice higher), but Evan may still have had the free will to not open his mouth. We don't see the extent of Bruce's power though. Could he have forced Evan say something against his will? (i.e. something he would never say or believe). Since we don't see that, the correction seems more valid than the mistake.

Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: When Arbogast is stabbed, in one shot there's no blood on his face, but in the very next shot there is.

MikeH

Correction: There's only two shots where we see him as he is killed, and in both shots, blood is visible on his face.

Ted (2012)

Corrected entry: When the news shows Ted being arrested at an airport, Ted gives the camera the finger. When he does this, his hand is censored, but Ted doesn't actually have any fingers.

MikeH

Correction: This is done as a joke, that the media deemed the gesture offensive even without fingers.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: Lee didn't need to jump on the grenade, they could have just all run away, there was plenty of time.

MikeH

Correction: Lee jumped on the grenade before knowing how much time there would be and to make sure everyone would be safe.

Deadpool (2016)

Correction: You know how many people get stabbed in this? You want to be more specific, otherwise this can't be confirmed.

Con Air (1997)

Corrected entry: Poe should've been put in a state prison for manslaughter, not a federal penitentiary.

MikeH

Correction: Poe is sent to San Quentin State Prison.

Bishop73

Correction: The judge says he's sentencing him to a federal prison, which he can't do because it wasn't a federal crime. San Quentin is a state prison, but for the state of California. Everything about all of this is a mistake.

Correction: He didn't need to see it. He's been next to Miggs for a while, so knows the types of things he does. He may have done this same thing to other visitors.

Life of Pi (2012)

Correction: I'm older than Pi was supposed to be, and my hair is much thicker. I can go over a week between shaves with only a minimum of visible stubble.

American Pie 2 (2001)

Corrected entry: Stifler starts telling the two "lesbians" the story about how he accidentally drank a beer full of semen in the first film. However, he says "One time at this party, I was drinking champagne..."

MikeH

Correction: He's referring to the scene at the start of this movie, where he thinks a girl is pouring champagne on him, but it's actually John Cho above, urinating off the balcony.

Jon Sandys

Corrected entry: Charles says to Wolverine "I'm gonna say to you what you said to us then, fuck off." But that's not what he said, he actually said "Go fuck yourself."

MikeH

Correction: Wolverine telling off Xavier and Magneto happened a decade prior to this film, and Charles at that point didn't have his powers (he doesn't necessarily have an eidetic memory when he has his powers anyway), so it's not really a mistake that Charles doesn't remember the exchange as exactly as it happened.

Phaneron

Corrected entry: When Frank is hit by the killing curse, he screams. The killing curse will kill you instantly, so he shouldn't have screamed.

MikeH

Correction: He screams out of fear, before getting hit by the curse.

Corrected entry: When Hannibal handcuffs a cop's hand to the bars, he only handcuffs one hand. He could've used the other hand to shoot, tase or mace Hannibal or unlock himself with his keys.

MikeH

Correction: The guard didn't have them on him. Before he enters the cell we see him pass them to his colleague who remains outside of the cell.

Corrected entry: When Will and Jack try to escape the execution, the guards surround them and hold them at gunpoint. However, they stand around them in a circle, so if they shot them, they would've all shot each other. Even if they had extremely good aim, they're standing very close to them, so the bullets would've passed through them.

MikeH

Correction: At that range and with the pair completely surrounded, they wouldn't have needed to shoot them. They could easily be recaptured or stabbed with bayonets. Notice that the soldiers are holding their guns in a stabbing stance, not a shooting stance.

The Fugitive (1993)

Corrected entry: The judge sentences Kimble to death by lethal injection. The judge does not have the power to decide the method of execution.

MikeH

Correction: In 1993, Illinois used lethal injection as the only form of execution. The only time they would use the electric chair was if something happened where lethal injection was not viable or did not work, however, it was never a primary option. Therefore, there were no other methods for anyone to choose and judge was merely letting Kimble know how he will be executed.

Bishop73

Corrected entry: It makes no sense that everyone believed Tommy was trying to escape when he was shot. There are no guards in the guard towers at night, and if there were, there would be a guard in every tower, meaning another guard would've seen Hadley shoot Tommy.

MikeH

Correction: Hadley and the Warden wield considerable power at the prison. They didn't need to convince everyone, they just needed a plausible explanation if there was a police investigation. Hadley could easily intimidate the guards and prisoners into remaining silent.

The Green Mile (1999)

Corrected entry: When Percy sabotages Del's execution, he claims he didn't know the sponge was supposed to be wet, and everyone believes him. But everyone also saw him put the sponge in the bucket. If he didn't know he was supposed to wet the sponge, why would he put the sponge in a bucket of water? The answer is because he wanted to deceive everyone, but nobody picks up on that.

MikeH

Correction: They didn't accept his explanation so much as they just gave up on trying to get through to him. They weren't fooled, only exasperated to the point of indifference.

Phixius

Correction: Actually the guy punches him right in the face for lying and then they both cover for him, just so he will finally transfer out of the green mile like they wanted and were trying to get him to do during the whole movie.

Fight Club (1999)

Corrected entry: Bob is only shot once with a handgun, but that one bullet somehow manages to blow half his head off. There's no way one bullet could do that, especially not at that range.

MikeH

Correction: A large caliber handgun could easily make an exit wound that size.

Die Hard (1988)

Corrected entry: When Hans is holding onto Holly's watch, he pulls a gun and tries to shoot her. If he shot her, he definitely would've fallen.

MikeH

Correction: McClane put at least one bullet through Hans. He is holding on with one hand to her watch. He knows he's doomed, he wants to take Holly or John or both with him if he can.

Grumpy Scot

Correction: Additionally, he might point the gun at John or Holly's head and demand he be pulled back inside.

Neighbors (2014)

Corrected entry: Seth Rogen pokes his daughter's crib to see if there was an airbag there, even though all the airbags had already been deployed and he was carefully counting them the whole time.

MikeH

Correction: Anyone nuts enough to steal airbags, break into your house and boobytrap your furniture with them might not stop at just the few stolen from your car. Though the whole airbag thing is silly and implausible to say the least, Rogen's caution wouldn't be out of place here.

Toy Story (1995)

Corrected entry: When Woody is about to be run over by a truck tire in the gas station, he could've easily moved. The driver wouldn't have seen him.

MikeH

Correction: It was a quick reaction. Buzz ran away as he saw it coming sooner but Woody thought it best to stop moving right away, not knowing where to go. He didn't want to be found in the middle of the pavement in the gas station lights either.

lionhead

Keep in mind that he was going to go further under the truck in a few seconds. There's no reason to suggest that he couldn't have done that earlier. He wouldn't have been seen.

Correction: The driver might not have seen him but there were people in the gas station and on the concourse who could well have done so.
