Corrected entry: After Atreyu kills the Morg a huge storm hits Fantasia, ripping boulders and giant trees into the air. So how is it that the tiny sapling Atreyu is holding onto stays in place?

Correction: Because it is a story in a book, along with giant racing snails.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: In the first encounter with the alien queen Ripley ignites the eggs, unloads the pulse rifle, and then throws her ammunition harness and grenades into the fire for good measure. However, when they get to the elevator the harness is back on without any grenades.

Correction: This is untrue. Ripley clips on a harness first, then she just puts a bandola of grenades over her neck/one shoulder. Then at the end she just throws the bandola into the flames. The harness remains on throughout.

Gremlins (1984)

Corrected entry: When they enter the department store at the end of the film, it is dark outside, so where did the strong sunlight that killed Stripe come from?

Correction: The first ray of dawn. It would appear blindingly bright in the dark store.

Wayne's World 2 (1993)

Corrected entry: In both scenes, where Wayne and Garth are traveling on the airplane, the pole under the airplane is visible.

Correction: It is supposed to be visible. It is supposed to be a model. It is a joke, just like the T-Rex in the park, or Jim Morrison's ghost. On their return flight the image is flipped (the writing is backwards on the plane), this is all part of the low-budget joke, just like the actors used to play Fake-Wayne & Fake-Garth in London.

Timecop (1994)

Corrected entry: At the beginning, the black guy stands in front of the panel and states that time travel has been invented and must now be policed. Instead of spending money setting up the TEC, training recruits etc, surely it would have been quicker and easier to seize the prototype of the time machine from the inventor. Assuming he only made one, this would then prevent any other time travel occurring.

Correction: You cannot 'un-invent' something. Once someone has created it, and the cat is out of the bag, others will follow in their footsteps. Look how many countries have nuclear weapons. The US didn't sell their plans to other countries. They knew it was possible and built their own devices. On top of that you do not know that in 1000 years in the future, someone else will not invent Time Travel after the world is a very different place. I thought the plot of the film was that all Time Travel WAS made illegal, so their job is to police any future inventions that may be made. The device used by the enemy in this film was a hidden prototype. As it was hidden it would have made no difference what they had done.

Vegas Vacation (1997)

Corrected entry: Eddie and Clark are on the tour bus when Eddie begins playing tour guide announcing that TI is on the right and Harrah's is on the left. In fact the tour bus is still downtown passing Binion's Horseshoe and is miles away from TI or Harrah's.

Correction: How is this a mistake? Eddie is not a tour guide, he has a metal plate in his head which affects him when his wife uses the microwave, he has an IQ of 70 at best, and he buries money in his back 'garden'. He is not playing with a full deck.

Soylent Purple

Corrected entry: In the scene aboard the Navy vessel where Bond is given a burial at sea, the wrapping around his supposedly dead body is bright white, but after he is dumped into the ocean, picked up by the divers and brought aboard the submarine, the wrapping is now tan. (00:09:35 - 00:11:30)

Correction: It is wet. It has now darkened from the water like most material when they are damp.

Soylent Purple

Corrected entry: Inside the sub when Bond is talking with "M", he is handed the address of where he is to go on a small slip of paper, and after looking at it he burns it using his lighter. The paper almost immediately burns up as he holds it (normal paper would burn more slowly), which means that it must have been made of a material that burns faster (as you can tell by the red glare the flames give off). (00:13:10)

Correction: So MI6 uses special paper that is easily destroyed when handing over confidential information. It is a good way to ensure that an enemy agent cannot reconstruct the info from the ashes, and a good way to destroy the secret info in a hurry. This isn't a mistake, it is the point of that scene.

Memento (2000)

Corrected entry: In the film, Leonard is unable to make short term memories because of his condition. This has only effected him since the incident when he and his wife were attacked. However he is constantly able to remember that he has this condition so he can tell people about it. Surely, he would have no recollection of the doctors telling him about it.

Correction: But he doesn't remember it correctly. The memory is triggered by his tattoo to remind him of the guy who had the same problem. But it is all a fiction created in his head by misleading information, he isn't actually remembering it.

The Thing (1982)

Corrected entry: What we first learn from "The Thing" is place and time: "Antarctica, Winter 1982". This, however, makes the several day- and night-sequences depicted in the movie impossible. At the poles, the sun keeps above the horizon for 6 months and below it for another 6 months, so you have exactly one day (the Polar Day) and one night (the Polar Night) per year.

Correction: MacCready says in the film "First Goddamned week of winter", indicating it is not long into the winter cycle. The cycle does not happen instantly. It is not Polar Day, then instantly Polar Night, it is a gradual process, with the days becomeing rapidly shorter, lasting less then an hour at the end. MacCready flys to the Norwegian camp, and arrives back in the dark, meaning that the daylight was probably not long at all.

Soylent Purple

The first day of winter should be the longest night. Solstice. In Antarctica there should be almost no day.

Maverick (1994)

Corrected entry: During the scene when Maverick is delayed getting to the poker table a pendulum clock is shown. Pendulum clocks don't work on board a boat as the movement upsets the pendulum.

Correction: This was a river boat moving a few miles per hour on a calm river. If they encountered water turbulent enough to upset the clock, then that would be the least of their worries for the paddleboat. The riverboats would have billiards and roulette which would be far more sensitive to the motions of the boat, without problem. A ship at sea would have great difficulty with a pendulum clock due to the waves and the high speed of travel as you describe.

Corrected entry: When Scotty ejects Mr. Roboto from his seat into the tank with sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads, the sharks begin attacking Mr. Roboto. When sharks eat humans there should be a lot of blood in the water. This does not occur in this scene. The water never turns red, it only churns up white. (01:12:45)

luchador

Correction: As Dr.Evil wanted the lasers so that the sharks cold enjoy "A cooked meal", I'm guessing the lasers cooked Roboto instantly, so there would be no blood, just succulent Roboto Juices.

Superman III (1983)

Corrected entry: When Superman is trapped inside the force-field/bubble fired by the Supercomputer, there is a gaping hole visible, so he shouldn't have any problems breathing whatsoever. Also there are very obvious wires visible suspending the force-field (easiest to see against the computer's structure).

Correction: There isn't a hole. It is a clear-plastic bubble, with a membrane/web in the inside. At one point there is a large gap in the web shape, leaving a clear section of bubble so you can see the Hero's face as he uses his laser vision.

Corrected entry: At the end of the big fire fight in the homeware store, John and Jane both have dual Glock 18c Auto pistols. As they fire, the slides on the pistols never move. Also, the report is wrong. There should be a flash out of the top of the pistol toward the front due to cuts put in the barrel by Glock to help reduce muzzle climb.

Correction: I think the slides do move, they just move too fast to be picked up on the 24 frames per second of the film. Similar to the way old car wheels or helicopter blades often appear motionless. As to the report, you have no idea what modifications the different agencies do to their weapons. e.g. Many different countries have their own version of weapons, modified for export specifically for 1 organisation/military/police force etc.

Corrected entry: When the Ewok steals the speeder to distract the stormtroopers (first time code), he gets on it, starts it up and takes off at a high enough rate of speed that he is left dangling horizontally from the handlebars. In an earlier shot (second time code), however, we see that the throttle for these bikes is a foot pedal which he couldn't have reached in the first place. How did he get this thing moving? (01:28:30)

Correction: The throttle was in the handlebars which they twisted to make it go faster, while the gear shift was in the foot pedals.

The Core (2003)

Corrected entry: When Dr. Brazzleton is going out into the impeller shaft to open the hydraulic door, he opens the door to expose himself to heat that is supposedly 2000 degrees above the limit of his suit. However, the incredible heat would melt everything in the room behind him.

Richard Welty

Correction: The Dr climbs down a small lader and into a small airlock. You never see the condition of the airlock and it is never seen again. So it may well be damaged in the brief moment it was opened.

Corrected entry: In the Ewok village, Leia's hair is long and loose. During the final battle a short while later, it's now tightly braided and coiled in numerous strands and done in an elaborate style that would take hours to arrange. It's unlikely she would have the time, the inclination, or the resources to have her hair so stylishly coifed.

Correction: Once Luke left Leia with Han, they do not launch their attack until the next morning. That is plenty of time. The Ewoks may have groomed her, it does look like some sort of small vine is woven into her hair, it may have been part of the ceremony to make them part of the tribe. There are many reasons.

Paycheck (2003)

Corrected entry: When Michael is held in FBI custody, one of the agents takes a cigarette from Michael's package and lights it. The resulting smoke sets off the fire suppression system. In the later scene when the attorney is showing Michael the inventory of the items, you can see "cigarettes - smokeless" listed. If the "smokes" are in fact "smokeless", they wouldn't have set off the alarm. (00:33:05 - 00:37:50)

Kyle Pierce

Correction: That is not a mistake. That is the point of that scene. The FBI agent smokes the cigarette thinking it is safe as it is smokeless. In fact they're intentionally not smokeless, to help Michael escape.

Soylent Purple

Correction: As the stuntman and Harrison Ford probably spent many weeks in the jacket in the desert, the answer would have to be 'No'.

Soylent Purple

Corrected entry: In the opening battle General Grievous shatters the front glass on the bridge to escape. A metal barrier slides into place to stop the bridge from decompressing. But when Anakin is trying to land the disabled ship the metal barrier is gone and the glass appears to be back in place. If the metal barrier had just withdrawn everyone on the bridge would be being buffeted around to an insane degree by inrushing wind.

Correction: The metal shield only covered the damaged sections to the side (you can see it stop as it moves accross). On the closeup as the ship lands we can see only the very front of the bridge has intact glass, the rest of the bridge has metal shielding over the broken windows.
