For Your Eyes Only

Revealing mistake: As Bond prepares to drop Blofeld into the smoke stack, you can see that the cervical collar isn't put on correctly, the actor can still move his head. The intention of a cervical collar is to take all strain off the spine and neck muscles and prevent any movement that could cause damage to the spinal cord. To work, a stiff neck must be fixed so the neck is completely immobilized and slightly extended. However, wearing a cervical collar is very uncomfortable to the wearer, so they probably used a slightly lower one and didn't fully tighten it.

Revealing mistake: When "Mac" is told by the captain of St. George's to destruct the ATAC system, an explosion occurs and he gets thrown to the ground. When this happens, you can see that the man playing Mac is his stunt double.

Character mistake: When Bond contacts the Chief of Staff after identifying Locque on the Identigraph, Bond reads his bibliography to him. The first appearance of the word bibliography is misspelled "BIBLOGRAPHY", whereas the second appearance near the bottom of the screen is spelled correctly.

Continuity mistake: When Bond jumps over the two henchmen shooting at him during the ski chase, he causes one of the henchmen to fall over. As he falls over, his motorbike does too, but the bike is back upright again immediately when Kriegler skis over them.

Continuity mistake: When the three ice-hockey players are warming up on the ice rink, you can see there is a puck next to the goal, but when the players start charging towards Bond, the puck has disappeared.

Revealing mistake: Many of the underwater close up shots are done with a fish tank in front of the camera and bubbles superimposed where the actors' breathing apparatus should be, but the location of the bubbles isn't always correct. This is obvious in the first underwater diving scene at the archaeological dig with Bond and Melina. In some shots the bubbles appear to come from her hand instead of her regulator. The position of her hand matches the location of the regulator in close ups of Bond. (01:21:10)

Continuity mistake: As Locque speeds away from the burning warehouse, Bond shoots two bullet holes in his rear window which disappear and reappear in subsequent shots.

Audio problem: When Bond shoots Locque on the shoulder, he yells but does not open his mouth.

Revealing mistake: When Bond enters Q branch, he is met by a technician with a false broken right arm. After saying "Coming along very nicely sir" the arm then swings to the technicians' right breaking the head of the dummy. This then reveals the arm of the technician, who then holds his hands suggesting the false arm is a 'Spy Gadget'. You can see that the revealed hand is not that of the actor but of someone stood behind the set wall. The actor has used his real arm to carry out the effect, and then clasped the hand of the extra person. This is supported by the fact the arm movement can be seen through the shirt, the skin complexion of the hand is completely different to the actor, the arm looks like he is being hugged, when he puts his hands together it is not natural, and as they move away he moves his right shoulder up and the 'third' arm remains in place.

Continuity mistake: After the motorcyclist crashes through the flower shop window, he lays 10 meters into the shop, with the seller standing behind him holding a bouquet. A frame later, when Bond shows up by the window shop, the bouquet is inches away from him. She must have had a 10 meters long arm to make this possible.

Suggested correction: Firstly, the small shop is not 10 metres (more than 30 feet) in depth; it looks to be barely over 3 metres (about 10 feet) from what little we see of it. Secondly, there is no inconsistency in the way the shop owner hands Bond the bouquet: after she looks down at the dead cyclist, a few shots later she is standing nearer to the window where Bond is, so she must've stepped closer.

Continuity mistake: At the Italian flower shop, the seller approaches Bond, but a frame later is standing several meters behind.

Suggested correction: From the way this scene was filmed, there is nothing to suggest she is standing further away from Bond, let alone several metres. She first approaches him to within about a metre, then when she nods at Bond's order of flowers, she is still standing at the same distance.

Continuity mistake: The building where Bond's helicopter enters has solid walls and small windows, yet from the inside, it has huge windows everywhere.

Sacha

Revealing mistake: When Apostis kicks Bond in the face when he reaches the top of the cliff, you can see it is not Roger Moore but his stunt double.

Continuity mistake: When the Countess is struck and killed by the dune buggy, she collapses and her dress flips up, revealing her bikini bottom. But when Bond finds her moments later, the dress has covered her bikini.

Audio problem: When Bibi says "You can go to hell!" to Kristatos, a slapping sound can be heard before Kristatos's hand makes contact with her face.

Continuity mistake: After Bond has seized control of the helicopter in the pre-credits sequence, he can be seen wearing a set of headphones at one point, but seconds later they have disappeared.

Audio problem: During the car chase in Spain, Bond says "Take the low road". Melina's 2CV gets flipped over, with Bond and Melina inside, and Bond then says "Not THAT low". However, his mouth keeps moving as if he is saying something else, but no words are coming out.

Continuity mistake: When the thug in the diving hardsuit wounds Bond on his arm, it's his right arm that's wounded. But when he's tied up with Melina on the Triana, you can see the wound is now on his left arm.

poehitman

Factual error: One submission stated that when the Cuban hitman is killed with the arrow from Melina's crossbow, it goes in his back when it should have gone in his side. The corrector stated that we have no idea what angle she was firing from. Well, it is clear that she was standing at the left side of the pool (since we get a point of view shot from her) when he's about to dive in, and she shoots from there. She couldn't have got behind him that fast. So there is no way she could have got him squarely in the back.

James Bond: Forgive me father, for I have sinned.
Q: That's putting it mildly, 007.

Question: Why does Bond go to Bibi to try and get information about Eric Kriegler? Couldn't he have simply contacted his own department to get a background check on him. After all, it's not like she would have had anything very informative (considering that she had previously stated that he never talks to girls).

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Whether he talked to her or not, Bibi would have inside information simply by being around him so much. She would have overheard things that a background check wouldn't reveal, like planned criminal activity.
