Deliberate mistake: When "Legs" lowers the Pez duck named Ducky down through the removed lightbulb hole, to ring the doorbell, the lightbulb housing is bigger than the hole but they bring it up through the hole to remove it. (01:03:55)
Deliberate mistake: When Cristal and Zach's limo pulls up in front of the Club Cheetah, the Stardust is prominently displayed in the background at a close distance to the club. In reality, the Cheetah is a popular and well-known strip club in Las Vegas. People such as myself who have actually been there know that when looking at the Cheetah from the angle seen in the film, there would be no possible way the Stardust could be in the background (in actuality, the I-15 highway would be in the background, not the strip). Deliberate mistake: While most of the German spoken in the movie is correct (even if with bad accent) there is a translation error in the scene at Yankee Stadium. The accent suggests that these bad guys were raised in the communist eastern Germany and previously served in the secret service "stasi." When the guy with the sniper rifle gets nervous and asks if he should shoot or not, the other one says,"Nein, wir brauchen den anderen", which would translate, "No, we need the other one", but the subtitles say, "We'll follow him", which they do.
Deliberate mistake: Near the end of the movie, there is a shot of the "Iwo Jima" with the two recovery helicopters taking off. For a moment, you can see the number 11 on the inboard side of the ship's island, which identifies it as the USS New Orleans (LPH-11), a sister of the Iwo Jima. Admittedly, it was the best the producers could do, since by the time the movie was made, the Iwo Jima (LPH-2) had been decommissioned.
Deliberate mistake: In the funeral scene of Wallace's father and brother, the little girl picks a flower for young Wallace. Look closely when she picks the flower- its already been cut. [This was to make it easier for the little girl to pick it so not to hurt herself on the thorns.]. (00:11:20)
Deliberate mistake: During the part of the movie where the USS Alabama is sinking deeper into the ocean a shot of the depth gauge was made showing the sub passing 1800 feet at a quick rate. About 20-30 seconds of shots were shown after this to further dramatize the peril of submarine and then the scene cut back to the depth gauge. This time however, the gauge was moving much slower and only shown the sub had sunk 15-20 more feet without any reason for the sudden slowdown in decent.
Deliberate mistake: During Dade's first 'hacking' scene, he is wearing sunglasses. The shades disappear for a closeup shot of Dade's eyes and a brief montage of TV clips, then reappear on Dade's face in the longer shot. (00:05:45)
Deliberate mistake: During the scene where Ryback is fighting Penn (the grey-haired mercenary) in the kitchen, watch for the shot where Ryback flips Penn. The film has been sped up and the result looks disjointed and out of place. The characters are moving FAR too fast for it to look natural.
Deliberate mistake: At the end of the movie when Gerry launches the go-kart in the air, all the spectators are about 50 yards away yet they are looking straight up as if the go-kart is flying above their heads.
Deliberate mistake: Many times Pocahontas's hair blows in the wind, even though nothing else moves in the shot. From the way her hair moves, the wind should be strong enough wind to move something else, but not even John Smith's hair moves.
Deliberate mistake: The huge bruise on Tommy's face, from the board hitting him, disappears in less than a day.
Deliberate mistake: In the scene where the characters are initially signing up for the contest, Gene Hackman's henchmen cock their weapons as they enter, then after Sharon Stone shoots the rope apart the henchmen cock their rifles again. The problem is that with a second cocking the rifles would be ejecting any chambered brass. It seems like a deliberate mistake because they cock their rifles an inordinate number of times throughout the movie; I would guess the director wanted the effect of hearing the weapons being cocked multiple times at the expense of continuity with the rifles.
Deliberate mistake: After our heroes jump from the plane.as they are landing their parachutes the each come to a soft standing landing. if you jump with a standard Dash 1 Bravo parachute (which none of them had) your landing is similar to jumping from 14 feet high with no chute: you hit like a rock and collapse (the Parachute Landing Fall or PLF) They were all using stunt parachutes of a type that was unavailable in 1968.
Deliberate mistake: The lake that the girls splash about in is very shallow, as they easily stand and play in it. Roberta does a head-first dive from a high tree, into it. There's no chance she wouldn't have hurt herself. (00:32:35)
Deliberate mistake: In the Search for the Stars contest, at the end of the song their mouths have stopped singing as they go to bow but you continue to keep hearing them apparently sing a few seconds longer as it fades out. This is a joke referring to the original Brady Bunch episode where the kids sing the song on live television and the song similarly fades out after they've stopped singing.
Deliberate mistake: When the house is splitting in two, the board game should have fallen long before it actually does. (01:25:25)
Deliberate mistake: Throughout the entire movie every character seems to speak fluent English, despite several portions of the movie take place in remote Russian locations.
Deliberate mistake: The way the helicopter fell into the stadium at the end is impossible. Since the dead guy still held the control stick back, the rotor blades would still be pointed backwards making the helicopter fall even more back. Since there wasn't any controlled steering, it would spin around wildly. Not even a stunt pilot could maneuver a helicopter like that not to mention a dead body.
Deliberate mistake: The surviving passengers are all awoken from a deep sleep after Dinah realises the other passengers have gone. Yet none of them appear drowsy or tired and none of their eyes appear strained, despite having just woken up so suddenly. (00:09:20)
Deliberate mistake: When Matt is spying through the telescope on Casey's argument with her parents, you can hear Casey yelling "No no no" and hear her bedroom door slam, etc. This is all from Matt's point of view from the telescope - it would have been impossible for him to hear any of that, being such a far distance all the way across the lake.
