Trivia: When Donnie is about to enter the car with Gretchen near the end of the film, he clutches at his stomach as if in pain. Near the end of the film, we see Frank touch his eye after Donnie dies. Both of these are forward memories of pain: one of the deleted scenes features how Donnie dies - a pole goes through his stomach right where he clutches it. And where does Donnie shoot Frank? All together now - the eye.
Trivia: In an interview, the director stated that hoverboards were real, but they weren't on the market because parents didn't like the idea of floating children. He said this as a joke, but this didn't stop mass hysteria as thousands of kids went from store to store looking for hoverboards.
Trivia: All the main characters are pretty much taken from other sci-fi movies. The Missing Link is meant to be The Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954); B.O.B. is meant to be The Blob (1958); Ginormica is pretty much based on Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman (1958); Dr. Cockroach is copied from The Fly (1958); and Insectosaurus is based on Mosura (1961).
Trivia: The Special Edition covers of Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back are wrong. The picture of the Emperor on ESB cover is from 'ROTJ', and the lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader on the cover of ROTJ is taken from 'ESB' (notice Luke is in his fighter pilot suit, and Vader is fighting him one-handed)
