Trivia: In 1990, a script was written for the sequel; it involved the cast of the first film going to Hawaii. Burton and and the cast were set to return, but the cast would only come if Burton was involved. He became to busy with batman returns and eventually gave up on the idea. The script is still owned by The Geffen Film Company till this day.

Continuity mistake: Whenever they are doing the show, Freddy is almost always holding the large camera with blue light. When it shows him holding it, it's shaking. When it shows Carly and Sam from the angle of Freddy's cam, it is perfectly still. Always.

Continuity mistake: During the other father's song, notice the red record player by the door and the position it's in, with the lid facing Coraline when he says, "making up a song". When the camera angle changes and he says, "she's a doll", the record player's position changes completely, with the lid now facing the wall.
