Best romance movie plot holes of all time
Plot hole: At the end of the film, we see Edward carving ice sculptures in his mansion. How did he get the ice up there? First of all, it takes place in a warm climate and I didn't see a freezer up there in the castle. He couldn't have gotten ice from town because firstly he had scissors for hands and couldn't have gripped the ice. And, even if by some miracle he could, he wouldn't be able to buy any from town because everyone in town but Kim was convinced that Edward was dead, she told everyone that they killed each other. And Kim didn't bring it to him because she told her granddaughter in the end that she never saw him again after that night. So where did he get that ice?
Plot hole: In the end of the film it is heard the police want to exhume the body of Charles Lee Ray from his grave site in New Jersey. Now when Chucky and the crew get to the grave site they find and kill a coroner who is digging up the body. He is the only one there at 1am, by himself, a lonely coroner without any police officers, after all this is a police investigation and I doubt the cops would have him there alone. Then right at the end the Detective who is hunting them arrives. Now he is a cop from Lockport, about six states away. A. Why did he drive all that way to see the body? B. A cop from all the way down there shows up but no new Jersey cops are at the scene?
Plot hole: In the scene when Lisa and Akim are walking up to Akim's door (when Semi is sitting in the hot tub after fixing up their room), they are carrying groceries for Akim to cook Lisa dinner, however when Akim walks into the room (and every shot from inside the room) there is no kitchen for him to cook.
Plot hole: At the end of the film Woody shows what a nice chap he is by spending the 'tainted' million dollars at a charity auction. He's just made his problems much worse - he paid his solicitor a large fee to arrange the deal, so he hasn't got a million in the bank. That cheque is going to bounce so fast it will crack the plaster on the roof of the bank, and bouncing a million dollar cheque is a serious criminal offence in the US. (There is no way enough interest could have built up to cover the difference, either).
Plot hole: After Superman has reversed time the Hoover Dam reverts to its previous undamaged state as it should, but Jimmy Olsen should then have been replaced back on the dam. Instead he interrupts the potential kiss between Lois and Superman and complains of being abandoned by Superman in the desert.
Plot hole: When Renee Russo was reviewing the tape showing the room with the painting to see who stole the painting, and the tape was blank because the heat generated from the suitcase hidden under the bench, why didn't she just back up the tape completely to see who put the suitcase there in the first place?
Plot hole: In the final tournament when Happy is stuck in the rough, he swings five times. Assuming he hit his drive into the rough and hit an AMAZING shot from the edge of the water into the hole, he still could do no better than a seven on the hole. Happy only lost one stroke on the hole.
Plot hole: When the Chicago Post first runs the story on Kevin, there is a picture of him on the front page, next to the headline. So anyone who was following the story would have known what he looked like, which would make it impossible for Kevin's friends to get away with pretending to be him.
Plot hole: When Iris Henderson and her two friends arrive at the hotel, Iris orders dinner and asks that it be sent up to "our" room. The waiter arrives when the three are changing. But later, when it's time for bed, Iris says good night to her friends, who leave her alone in the room (as she must be for the sake of subsequent developments).
Plot hole: How could Jane not be aware that Tom had only used one camera for the date rape interview, recording his fake tears later? That's the way things are done on television news shows and as an experienced, hard-bitten television producer she could not possibly be unaware of that. The reporter always records his or her reaction shots (called 'noddies') after the interviewee has left. Shooting with two cameras would involve two crews, two lighting rigs, a vision switcher and so on and so on and a straightforward interview simply would not justify such a complex and expensive set up.
Plot hole: The parents meet and get married on the QE II and then we jump to 11 years and nine months later, which is the time the girls get to camp. It comes out that they will both celebrate their 12th birthdays on October 11, so at the time of the camp (which must be around July/August) they are 11 years and around 9 months. So either they were born almost immediately after conception or the timeframe is off.
Plot hole: When Kalgan is torturing Lea, he says that he wants her father's countermeasures in case of emergency. But when she is rescued and finds out MacPhearson is a traitor who is working for Kalgan, Captain Devers is worried because MacPhearson knows all of the ship's countermeasures. If MacPhearson knows the countermeasures, then Kalgon does too, so there is no reason to bring it up while he is torturing Lea.
Plot hole: Stuart establishes that there is only one of you and that when you travel through time you can repeat things, but it will be you and not your double that does it. But, at the end, when the Duke is going up the stairs and the uncle says "Where have you been...", the Duke is wearing the same clothes as the first time. Yet we see that he goes directly from the time portal to his house in the ballroom raiment of the later scene. Where did the old clothes come from?
Plot hole: After running from the pirates, the two castaways almost stumble off a cliff. Unless they were running backwards, I'm sure they would have seen the cliff coming for a while, because when the camera zooms out you can see clear terrain for at least 20 metres until the edge of the cliff.
Plot hole: When Schaeffer, McFee, and Fergie drive to the Lapp farm to kill John, the car stops on top of a hill. Then it reverses a bit to be out of sight from the farm. But then the formerly careful guys get out and walk down the open road, sporting their guns like in an Italo western.
Plot hole: When Henry rings Maurice's doorbell to give the bad news about Sarah's fatal illness, Maurice and Sarah are upstairs in the bedroom. Maurice approaches the window and looks down while we see Henry looking up in his direction. That he walks away without trying to make contact makes no sense.
Plot hole: Sarah breaks a mirror in frustration by throwing something against it. Then she buries her face in her arms and sobs. It remains a mystery how she managed to cut her hand so bad that it needed to be fixed with five stitches, as she isn't even seen picking up the pieces.
Plot hole: Catherine Zeta Jones says that she needs ten extra seconds after midnight to download the program that collects the billions of dollars from the international bank. In the movie at two different point, she states that after 11:00 PM the device she linked to the clock is gathering an extra 1/10 of a second every minute to allow for ten seconds at midnight. If you take a tenth of a second a minute for 60 minutes, you end up with only 6 seconds. 4 seconds short of the required 10. Some people say she only says "a fraction", but she explains the scenario twice. In one instance, she indeed says a fraction, the other time she definitely says 1/10th of a second, which is wrong.
Plot hole: When Dan is chasing after Carter to catch him and Alex together at the restaurant, there's very little chance he could have had any idea where Carter was going. He couldn't have told the cab driver to "follow that taxi" because in the time between Carter getting in a cab and Dan getting in a cab about 5 taxis drive past, so how he happens to end up at the same place is a miracle.
Plot hole: When Fogg convinces the cargo ship captain to take him to Shanghai, he pays for the passage of himself and two of his colleagues. One of these colleagues is Aouda, but as Passpartout is not there, the other one must be Fix. Why, then, does Fix have to pay for his own passage? If you notice, Fogg seems surprised to see Fix on board.
