Superman Returns picture

Deliberate mistake: When Lex tests the crystal fragment, it knocks out all the power on the airplane Lois is flying in, yet the flight attendant's amplified voice can still be heard over the speakers. (00:30:40)

Lost Treasure picture

Deliberate mistake: The four main "good guy" characters are stuck on an island with people who are trying to kill them. Steven Baldwin's character brings a pistol and takes a machine gun from one of the bad guys. Several times they overcome other armed men, but after defeating them, never bother to take the bad guys' guns. At one point, two characters argue over who gets to carry the pistol, yet when they knock out a man armed with a rifle, they leave it with him and just walk away.

Platoon picture

Deliberate mistake: Throughout the entire movie, every time Charlie Sheen is not wearing his helmet, especially when he's out in the field in this tropical climate, his hair is always meticulously combed back, blow-dried and puffy. As a veteran, I know from personal experience that when you take your helmet off, especially in a climate like that, the reality is your hair will be messy, sweaty, pressed flat and most unattractive.

Deliberate mistake: If you look at the IP address of the junkyard, it is listed as: 634.634.99.234.88. An IP never goes over 255. (01:00:10)

Nacho Libre picture

Deliberate mistake: Several of the matches Nacho loses, he should actually have won. In Mexican pro wrestling, it is illegal to rip another's mask off, and results in immediate disqualification. This happens twice to Nacho, both in the fight with the midgets and in the final against Ramses.

Chariots of Fire picture

Deliberate mistake: When we first see Eric Lidell, it is 1920 and he has just returned from China to his homeland of Scotland. Eric would've been 18 years old in 1920. Ian Charleson, who was 31 at the time the film was made, looks his own age.

Mr. Deeds picture

Deliberate mistake: Am I REALLY supposed to believe that a helicopter is capable of hovering above the top of Mt Everest? [In the DVD specials, the filmmakers say that they're absolutely aware that it's not possible for a helicopter to hover above Mt Everest. They just thought it would be a funny scene if a helicopter pulled the dead guy away from the mountain.] (00:02:15)

Deliberate mistake: After they have the towels on the girls, find the "I Love NY" shirts. They're wearing white bras when they shouldn't have anything on, considering they just took a shower.

Mars Attacks! picture

Deliberate mistake: At the end just before the president is killed he fixes his tie, but it keeps on getting fixed to messed, to fixed, etc. Deliberate homage to "A Few Good Men", but worth looking for nonetheless. (00:28:15)

Live and Let Die picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Bond and Kananga are fighting underwater, Bond shoves the bullet into Kananga's mouth. Then, Kananga rises up and explodes. He explodes like a balloon, with not much blood at all. (01:55:00)

Ocean's Twelve picture

Deliberate mistake: Laser beams are normally not visible, except for a small dot where they hit a surface. Even if made visible, using smoke or dust or special glasses, they are thin as threads. Obviously something more visual was needed for Toulour's dance act, hence the thick beams of light.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Talour would need to see the beams in order to get through. I would attest that he let off a low grade smoke canister with a fine mist like a concert hazer to make the beams visible yet not trip a smoke fire detector.

Marie Antoinette picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Marie is trying on shoes, a pair of powder blue high top Converse sneakers can be seen next to her feet. It must have been done intentionally, but since there is no trace of modern apparel anywhere else in the film (the closest would be the mere mention of hot pink dress fabric but, as it's not shown, we don't know what exactly Marie calls "hot pink") these shoes (and the fabric) can't be considered part of a thematic element or artistic license. Donnie Darko picture

Deliberate mistake: In the shot near the end of the film where Donnie grabs the keys for the station wagon, you can see a Blockbuster Video member card in a cup. That card design wasn't used until the mid to late 1990's. This movie is set in 1988. Deliberate as it's a product placement, but still wrong. (01:37:10)

Deliberate mistake: The slow rate of the radio telescopes at the VLA has been greatly increased for the movie. They are actually quite slow and make little to no noise.

Deliberate mistake: The 'NNN' news program shows a picture of some animal crackers in Frank's stomach. The problem is, they are still all in one piece and are pretty big. I don't think Frank would swallow them whole.

The Exorcist picture

Deliberate mistake: Father Merrin says, "It is He who commands you", and we hear and see the ceiling crack above his head. In the next shot we see the ceiling above him and they are no cracks in it, but four shots later we see the exact same spot and now cracks appear even though we hear no more cracking over-dubs after the first one.
