Continuity mistake: When Legolas lets loose the final arrow into the Troll's mouth, at Balin's Tomb, and the Troll drops down. The things lying on the ground near the Troll's right arm, are in different positions in the close-up and wide shot. (00:33:25)

Continuity mistake: After cutting the corset, Jack picks up the medallion in a close-up shot of Elizabeth and her hand is next to her head. In the next wide shot, as Norrington rushes over, her arm is stretched out, up past her head. In this wide shot, the neckline of her slip is different than the two close-ups, before and after. In her next close-up, her hand is back near her head again. (00:16:45)
Continuity mistake: Murtogg and Mullroy rush over to help lift Elizabeth onto the pier. Murtogg drops his gun behind the two posts and Mullroy drops his gun in front of the two right corner posts. In the wide shot, Jack's holding the medallion and Norrington rushes in. Mullroy's gun isn't behind him, at the posts, and Murtogg's gun isn't positioned the same way he dropped it. When Norrington grabs Jack, Mullroy's gun is lying in front of the posts again. Also, the ropes' position changes in these shots too. (00:16:30)
Continuity mistake: In Port Royal, as Jack passes the dock master, he says "Hold up there you. It's a shilling to tie up your boat at the dock." In the wide shot, a man carrying bananas on his left shoulder, (the one with white pants, white shirt, vest and hat) is passing behind Jack. Then, there's a close-up of Jack and a shot of the Jolly Mon. When the dock master says "And I shall need to know your name," in Jack's close-up, that same man starts to pass behind Jack, but by that time, he should be at the gangplank already, and the bananas are now on his right shoulder. This has nothing to do with the angle of the camera. (00:10:10)

Continuity mistake: At Helm's Deep, in this opening wide shot, soldiers call out, "Come on, keep moving. Quickly now," as the people walk towards the Glittering Caves. We see the soldiers standing up against the wall, as the people go past. Next, in a side close-up, Aragorn talks with Legolas as they walk past the soldiers, and other people. In the next shot from the front, as the conversation continues, they're still walking past the guards and people. In the second and third shots the people around them differ and in all three shots the guards differ too. (00:50:45)

Continuity mistake: In the armory at Helm's Deep, Aragorn says in the close-up, "Then I shall die as one of them." As he turns and leaves, in the wide shot, most of the people that were near him in the close-up are not in this wide shot. (00:53:30)

Continuity mistake: The braids over Legolas' ears on his scalp change drastically in position, shape, amount and how it is braided, as well as the amount of his side hair that is swept up into the back braid, in consecutive scenes or shots. It's impossible for him to change his hair between the following shots. At Balin's Tomb, after Pippin's carelessness, when Legolas turns around with Aragorn to look at the door. When he aims his arrow at the door, waiting for Orcs. When he lets loose the last arrow into the Troll's mouth. After leaving the chamber, when Gandalf says, "A Balrog of Morgoth." When he leaps across the broken stairs. Catching Aragorn after Aragorn drops from the broken stairs. While he stands outside Moria, after losing Gandalf. (00:28:00 - 00:42:55)

Continuity mistake: At Amon Hen while battling the Uruk-hai, Legolas yells to Aragorn, "Aragorn, go." In the next far wide shot, we see Aragorn run between the statue and Legolas, reaching the pillar. In the very next close-up, Aragorn is just running past the statue on his left, as Legolas kills two Uruks with one arrow. (01:19:25)

Continuity mistake: Having just arrived on shore at Amon Hen, in the first shot Legolas says, "It is not the eastern shore that worries me." Then as he says, "Something draws near", his hair lies differently at his shoulders. In the next shot, as he says, "I can feel it", his hair now lies the same as in the first shot. (01:13:10)

Continuity mistake: After Frodo runs from Boromir, invisible and wearing the Ring on his right hand, he sees the Eye. As he starts to fall, with his left hand he pulls the Ring off the finger of his right hand. Yet, in the next shot still falling, now visible, we see his right hand closed in a fist and when he lands on the ground, he's clutching the Ring in his right hand. (01:16:50)

Continuity mistake: As Boromir blows the Horn again at Amon Hen, in the first wide shot, he's battling an Uruk. In the close-up, he slices the whole arm off that Uruk, just under his shoulder, which starts to spurt, and the dismembered arm isn't seen. In the next wide shot, we see the whole arm of that Uruk still there and he is just dropping his sword out of his hand, then falls to the ground. (01:22:10)

Continuity mistake: At Amon Hen, just after Boromir blows the Horn again, in the two wide shots, Pippin holds his sword with his right hand. In the next close-up, Pippin holds it in his left hand. Also seen behind Pippin in this close-up, is Boromir's sword already sticking up out of an Uruk. In the very next wide shot, showing Pippin jumping onto an Uruk, seen between Pippin and the Uruk, is Boromir's sword in the body and Boromir is just removing his hand from it. (01:22:10)

Continuity mistake: During the Warg battle, just after Gimli falls off Arod, the Warg across the field lifts his face and spots Gimli. In the two close-up shots, directly behind the Warg, on his right, there are two arrows sticking up out of a dead body. However, in the wide shot that follows, there is no body with two arrows protruding, anywhere behind him. It is not the bodies to his side. (00:11:15)
Continuity mistake: After the credits, Barbossa is shown lying on the treasure pile. The Aztec chest is up at the top and the lid is closed and straight. (It was also shown with the closed lid when Jack asked Will to drop him off at his ship.) Then, in the last shot, when the monkey jumps up onto the chest, the lid is on the Aztec chest, but it is partially open now. (02:22:10)
Continuity mistake: During the final duel between Barbossa and Jack, Will runs to the Aztec chest. Jack tosses the medallion to Will, and as Barbossa turns his head, we see the white shirt collar. Barbossa pulls out his gun and aims it towards Elizabeth. In Barbossa's front shot, there is barely white collar showing, but in the next side shot, the white collar shows on both sides. Jack shoots Barbossa, and in the front shot, there's barely white collar showing. When he turns to look at Will, and when he turns back towards Jack, the white collar shows again. (02:00:40)
Continuity mistake: In the blacksmith shop there's a table with asst tools. In all these shots a few of the tools are arranged differently and in some shots they're completely different tools. 1 - when Jack notices Mr Brown. 2 - behind Jack when Will starts to come into the shop. 3 - when Will says, "Right where I left you." 4 - behind Will, when he and Jack duel. 5 - behind Will, when Jack holds the gun on him. (00:21:55 - 00:26:30)
Continuity mistake: Will goes to the fort the morning after the pirate rampage in Port Royal. Will says, "We have to hunt them down. We must save her," and his shirt collar is very crooked. Governor Swann says, "If you have any information concerning..." and in this shot Will's collar and vest are straight. In the following shots the shirt collar is crooked again. (00:41:20)
Continuity mistake: Aboard the Pearl, Barbossa says, "Did you not notice? That be the same little island we made you governor of on our last little trip." While he says those words, hair, etc, keeps changing. 1st shot - the wind blows their hair the same way. 2nd shot - Jack's ponytail at the top of his head is blowing in a different direction. 3rd shot - the wind doesn't blow their hair at all. 4th shot - their hair is blowing just like in the second shot. 5th shot - the wind doesn't blow their hair at all again.
