Hank's Unmentionable Problem - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: At the doctor, Hank's old teacher Mrs. Macintosh steps out of a door, and Hank is next to her. In the next close-up shot, Hank is suddenly closer to the old lady. Also, the frame around the window of the door gets larger between shots. (00:09:39)

Hank's Unmentionable Problem - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: Bill and Hank are talking outside, and then Dale walks up to ask Hank if he's tried squatting. Hank opens his mouth part of the way in this shot, but then it cuts to a close-up and his mouth is closed. He turns to look at Bill, mouth still closed, then it cuts back to a wide angle and his mouth is open again. (00:04:25)

Hank's Unmentionable Problem - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: Bill tells Hank to not be embarrassed about his constipation, and Hank is holding his beer can where his finger is over the top of the label. Then in the next shot, his finger is suddenly lower with more of the label and logo showing above it. (00:04:08)

Dang Ol' Love - S6-E20

Other mistake: At the prison, Bill meets Alicia, the same woman who gave Leanne a ride to the Hill house in Season Two ("Leanne's Saga"). Same voice, tattoo on the arm, and general appearance. Alicia tells him that she was in prison for killing her boyfriend. So it's odd that she was free in Season Two. Most likely, a sentence for homicide or manslaughter would be at least five years, and that much time has not passed. Otherwise, Bobby, Connie, and Joseph would be in their late teens.

Patch Boomhauer - S8-E1

Other mistake: When Boomhauer sees Katherine at the gas station, she says, "It's been twelve years." When Hank talks to Boomhauer in his garage, he mentions Boomhauer breaking up with Katherine twenty years ago.

Father of the Bribe - S6-E6

Other mistake: The premise of this episode makes no sense. Bobby and Connie have previously spent a lot of time together and/or with Joseph. They were also shown on "dates", i.e. the high school dance where No Doubt played. Basically, they were a steady junior high/middle school couple. However, in this episode, they are suddenly "too different" and can barely get through a few dates together.

Yard, She Blows! - S9-E4

Other mistake: In this episode, Peggy is terrible at gardening. In the fourth season, she brought flowers to the man who was making foot fetish videos. She said that the flowers were "so pretty" and were from her "own garden."

Night and Deity - S7-E21

Other mistake: Dale laughs at Nancy for picking up the diazinon, instead of the bird repeller gel. He then picks up a bag, goes up the ladder, and when he turns the bag around, it says diazanon on the bag he picked up. The only gel in the scene was what Nancy picked up.

Lucky See, Monkey Do - S13-E8

Deliberate mistake: Luanne gets pregnant at the end of season 10 and gives birth in this episode. However, despite the passing of several months being implied through various storylines in the interim, she does not have a pregnant belly until this episode. The rest of the time her stomach was as flat as it usually is.

Lucky's Wedding Suit - S11-E12

Plot hole: In the previous episode, Bill had completely bulked up and then suffered a ruptured rectum, which would sideline him for six months. He remarks that by the time six months pass, all his muscle growth would be gone. This episode shows him to be back to his regular physique, and given the fact that it was established earlier in the season that Luanne was pregnant, the fact that she has no visible baby bump (her belly is still completely flat) suggests six months have not passed, meaning Bill could not have reverted to his flabby physique so quickly.

Trans-Fascism - S12-E11

Continuity mistake: Hank, Bobby and Peggy are eating at Sugarfoots. On their table, there is a mayo container. Peggy starts talking, and then it shows a close-up of Hank. Then there is a shot of the table again. This time, there is a mustard bottle in the same position and shape as the mayo. The mayo is gone.

Meet the Manger Babies - S2-E12

Continuity mistake: While Hank and his friends are watching the game, right before Bill says, "Yes! Made it to the commercials!" he wipes his hands on the couch and leaves a mess on it, but when he is imitating the football player's touchdown dance, you can see that the mess is gone.

Suggested correction: Bobby has generally earned his parents' trust. He might get into trouble occasionally, as many pre-teen boys do, but not so much that Hank and Peggy need to cover all the bases. They believe that he stopped going to the deli. As Peggy tells Connie, "He is doing everything he can to get back on his feet in time for that dance."

Take Me out of the Ball Game - S3-E24

Factual error: Near the end of the episode, Dale Gribble saves Team Strickland by catching a home run ball, hit by Kurt Bevacqua, with his hat. This wins them the game. However, according to the MLB Rulebook, if a player catches a fly ball with their hat, the batter takes three bases, meaning the game would continue and Bevacqua would be at third base. (00:21:00)

Trivia: One of the show's creators made a cartoon about a retarded pig. Boomhauer's voice is based on the voice of an angry viewer who called when he was offended by the cartoon.

Suggested correction: The person was actually complaining about "Beavis and Butthead." For some reason, they called the show "Porky's Butthole."

Show generally

Question: How can Dale be so oblivious to the fact that Joseph isn't his biological son or that Nancy cheated on him with John Redcorn considering in one episode Dale actually caught them both in bed together.

Answer: In addition to Brian Katcher's response: it's supposed to be a joke that Dale is always suspicious about conspiracy theories, mysteries, etc, but he is "clueless" about his own wife having an affair. Of course, as Brian wrote, many fans think that Dale is pretending to be clueless because he doesn't want Nancy to leave him.

Answer: That's the shtick. Everyone in town knows that Dale's wife is seeing John behind his back and that Joseph is obviously really John's son, but Dale is completely oblivious (he's not that smart of a man). In one episode, Dale even says he's not homophobic because 'John Redcorn is gay, and he's one of my closest friends.' Of course there is a fan theory that Dale is completely aware of what's going on but chooses to ignore it out of fear of his marriage ending.

Brian Katcher

Also, if Dale *does* know about the affair, what choice does he have anyway? Explain to everyone he meets that Nancy is his wife, and Joseph is her son from her boyfriend? If he wants to stay with Nancy, then raising Joseph as his own child is slightly less awkward. Especially while Joseph is younger. I know of one man who did this. It was obvious that his wife had an affair, and "his" younger daughter had been fathered by someone of a different race. An "elephant in the room" situation.
