Question: 2 questions about the T-rex urine. Why would the urine repel other dinosaurs? And what did he mean by "big one with a fin?"

Answer: The T-Rex urine would have the scent of the large predator and this would keep other, smaller dinosaurs away for fear of being eaten. Although this is complete nonsense, that's what the movie is going for. The big one with the fin is the Spinosaurus, the gigantic dinosaur that is hunting the group.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: 1: because it's a form of territorial mark, besides I don't think anything other than a crazy Dino or man, would go into that type of zone 2: that "thing" is called a Spinosaurus, as Allan says to Billy while holding one of its teeth near the plane.

Unstoppable (2010)

Question: Is it likely that Dewey would have been subject to charges for the death of Judd Stewart? Although the failed plan technically wasn't his fault, the reason for it happening in the first place certainly was.

The_Iceman

Chosen answer: Highly unlikely. Dewey's negligence is not a direct cause of Judd's death, as Judd had every opportunity to decline the mission. Judd's family could bring a civil suit against the train company and Dewey personally for wrongful death but even that is a long shot since Judd assumed the risk.

Question: I'm assuming when Cassian said "Good night?" John pretty much confirmed he did kill his target. My question is, if Cassian had no knowledge of how Giana was his target and that he didn't know Giana was dead until after he went to go check up on her, why did Cassian shoot John?

Answer: Gianna was the most powerful person there. John is one of the world's greatest hitmen. Cassian puts two and two together.

Boyz n the Hood (1991)

Question: Who's the guy with the pacifier in his mouth all the time and why does he need one?

Answer: His name is Dooky, he's one of the friends of the main characters. Around the time this film was created, sucking pacifiers was somewhat popular amongst black youths in the United States. Several prominent hip-hop artists were seen doing so and in turn, many of their young fans emulated them. There was a belief that the trend started as a way to surreptitiously consume drugs such as LSD through the pacifier but this seems more myth than actual fact.

Probably ecstasy, actually. They chew on pacifiers while they're tripping because it keeps you from grinding your teeth.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Chosen answer: Because Peter is one of Mary Jane's closest friends. It would be awkward inviting him but not having him there would no doubt be upsetting to Mary Jane. Inviting Peter is simply the right thing to do.

General questions

There was a TV movie that had Hilary Swank. In the movie, she plays a woman whose husband was arrested and charged with the murder of an elderly couple that he knew. During the trial, flashbacks show what happened. The husband had a sleepwalking episode where he drove to their house and began fixing an air conditioner. When they noticed him, they tried talking to him but with no luck. Eventually, the old man touches the husband on his shoulder and he suddenly goes berserk and kills them both. The ending of the movie has the husband found not guilty and Hilary's family disowning her.

Answer: The movie is The Sleepwalker Killing. It's based on a true story. In it, Swank plays the wife of a man who kills his mother-in-law and seriously injures his father-in-law (her parents). His defense is he was sleepwalking and she's torn between believing her husband and staying with him or siding with her family. She decides to stay with her husband, causing the riff in the family after he was acquitted of murder and attempted murder.

Roman Curiel

Chosen answer: The Jaeger isn't doing anything strenuous at this time, it's just standing still.

Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Question: Why wasn't Patrick arrested for killing the child molester?

MikeH

Chosen answer: Even though he executes an unarmed man, it is doubtful given the circumstances that he would be investigated with much fervor for his actions. One police officer has just been shot and killed so Patrick's actions could easily be described as self-defense in the eyes of an investigator. Anyone making a claim to the contrary would risk having to stand up for a child murdering cop killer.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: Many/most people think child molesters are evil, disgusting, utterly loathsome, and irredeemable - they don't deserve to live - so a dead child molester is one less child molester. Even worse, Corwin Earle was also a child killer (although he claimed "it was an accident"). Many people, including police, would believe he deserved to die and Patrick did the right thing. Others, of course, would assert that "street justice" is not justice at all, but there would be little, if any, evidence that Patrick's shooting was not a justifiable homicide. IF Patrick were charged, his attorney would raise a defense that would most likely result in a "not guilty" verdict. Besides, this was a movie, and the audience needs to feel that justice has been served.

Batman Begins (2005)

Question: Shouldn't Bruce be as insane as Falcone? Unless the dosages delivered to Batman and Falcone, respectively, were different. Also, why didn't Rachel yell and scream and go crazy like Falcone did when he was hit?

Answer: Bruce is just as infected as Falcone, however he is rescued by Alfred shortly after he is poisoned and given an antidote by Lucius shortly after that. He is then bedridden for many hours. If he had not been saved as quickly as he was, he no doubt would have been a blubbering mass just like Falcone. The reason Rachel and even Bruce don't react the same as Falcone the moment they are poisoned comes down to how each individual person reacts to fear: Bruce tries to fight, Rachel faints, Falcone screams in horror.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: Also he had taken it before, earlier in the mountains.

Answer: Bruce was thoroughly trained to deal with fear. It's likely he'd be able to hold his mind together better than most.

Mulan (1998)

Question: When Shang mourns for his father's death, Mulan approaches to him and says "I'm sorry" in her normal voice. How come Shang didn't tell she was female because of her voice?

Roman Curiel

Chosen answer: He just isn't paying that much attention to her voice at that moment. Think about it like this: If you had just lost your father to war, are distraught that you never got to say goodbye, and a male friend you had been training with for some time spoke two words to you in support and they sounded somewhat feminine, would you automatically assume they were actually a woman disguised as a man?

Question: While Junior initially hesitates to fire Tulip as Hunter orders him to, he does not tell her he was supposed to fire her until after Jasper saves them from the wolves. Why doesn't Junior tell Tulip she's fired earlier when he is upset with her for crashing the plane?

Chosen answer: He simply does not have the nerve. Even when he is angry with her, he knows telling her she's fired would be incredibly hurtful for Tulip.

Question: Wouldn't the gyrospheres get stuck all the time, especially on wet patches of grass? I can't imagine the glass surface would get enough grip.

Answer: Apparently they are heavy enough to have traction in several types of terrain. Presumably if the weather was bad enough they would shut down the ride but for the purposes of the film, they seem to work just fine.

Question: When Bond finds out Dimitri is going to the airport to fly to Miami, we see Bond leaving Dimitri's "wife" and heading off to the airport, with the intention of following Dimitri. The question is: Bond is seen in the Alpha Romero he won from Dimitri in a poker match, but then we see Bond in the back seat of a taxi. So why two vehicles? Dimitri is seen in a taxi himself.

Kathy Higgs 2b4e

Chosen answer: The first shot is Bond driving the Aston Martin DB5 (not an Alpha Romeo) to the airport in the Bahamas. The second shot in the taxi is in Miami.

Question: When Kylo Ren told Rey that they had the rest of the map that leads to Luke, why didn't she try and get it back when she was escaping, since nobody knew that R2 had the rest of the map?

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Chosen answer: It is merely stated the First Order has the other part of the map, not necessarily that it is kept on Starkiller base. Regardless, Rey would have no way of knowing where the data is kept and even if she did it would be pointless since there is no way to know how many people have seen/copied the data.

The Town (2010)

Question: In the opening scene, one of the thieves said "where's your purse?" to the bank manager before they are going to leave the bank. What's the meaning of this phrase? Also, just following that, one of the thieves looks puzzled into a room where the security guards are restrained on the ground, before he joins another thief to leave the bank in their car. Why did he look puzzled at that time? Thx.

trytototo

Chosen answer: 1) Jem wants her purse to get her ID so he can follow her and eliminate her if need be, as he has already decided to take her as a hostage. 2) This is Doug coming back into the room and noticing that Claire is missing, taking her as a hostage was not part of the plan.

Question: When we go through the scenes of Bruce preparing to come back as Batman and face Bane, we see a nifty little device that helps with Bruce's knee and allows him to demolish rocks with a kick. My question is, why is this device all but forgotten about in the fights against Bane? It's one thing to ignore pain through use of constant painkiller exposure it is entirely another to physically move if the force of such a kick breaks a limb.

Answer: The device is just a high tech leg brace, it merely allows Bruce the ability to use his leg somewhat normally. It does not give Bruce super kicking strength. He does not demolish rocks with his kick, he kicks a brick or two off an old brick structure in the batcave. An impressive display of strength to be sure but hardly superhuman. He would be no more likely to break Bane's bones than he would be without the device.
