Malèna (2000)

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the war the town is attacked by US aircraft. The siren goes off unrealistically late, when the planes are already over the town and the first bombs detonate. (00:53:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: When it comes to airstrike siren warnings, if the air bombings are fairly frequent in one area, the sirens usually go off only if there is certainty that the aircrafts are actually moving towards the region the warning is given. Of course then it might be too late, but it's better than giving a warning every time the airplanes are seen, since the people get used to them and start to ignore them, which can be deadlier than giving a "late warning". To put it bluntly, no, it isn't unrealistic. It is actually more realistic than you would suppose.

Along Came Polly (2004)

Corrected entry: After Claude invites Lisa and Reuben to do scuba diving he says "salud" when he leaves. The English subtitles read "solid". (00:07:05)

NancyFelix

Correction: He is saying "Solid." His accent is messing up everything he says. Saying solid is often said when guys bump fists or something like that. He does it a few times in the movie.

Corrected entry: After Una's failed escape Sister Bridget cuts her hair very coarsely, more ripping it off than cutting it. However, when Una gets back to work she has a proper crew cut, done by a professional hairdresser. (00:47:45)

NancyFelix

Correction: Sister Bridget was the cutting of Bernadette very coarsely, not Una. When they show Sister Bridget cutting Una's hair, she was using a razor. The effect could be a crew cut.

Corrected entry: In the garage shoot-out McMahon kills the jeweller's bodyguards who are standing in front of a van. From the blood on the van you can tell that the bullets went right through, but there are no bullet holes or dents in the van. (00:34:35)

NancyFelix

Correction: Small caliber bullets tend to tumble, even break apart after hitting something. It's very much possible that the bullets went through, but didn't have the power to even dent the paint on the van.

Man on the Moon (1999)

Corrected entry: When they arrive at the 'Taxi' stage one of the prostitutes who accompanies Tony Clifton is wearing a blue dress. Suddenly, from one shot to the next, she is wearing an orange t-shirt. (00:44:40)

NancyFelix

Correction: Television shows are not necessarily worked out, recorded, and completed in a few hours, it can sometimes take days or more, especially when the cast is still working on the script. It's completely plausible for the ladies to have changed from morning wear to afternoon wear, or even change day-to-day.

Stepmom (1998)

Corrected entry: When Ben has his accident in the playground he falls on his back, but the injury is in the front of his leg. (00:57:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: The gash on his leg is from getting hit with his friend's sword.

Pleasantville (1998)

Corrected entry: When the tree in front of Bud's house flares up people stop and watch in shock. Therefore, it doesn't make sense that the firemen are unable to see the fire when they arrive by car, only later when Bud shows them how to use their equipment. The firemen don't even look into the direction of the fire when they come to the scene; on the other hand, passers by stop and look very much as if they realize the danger. (00:46:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: The firemen are able to see the fire, they have just never had to put one out before, because it was originally impossible to have a fire in any dangerous way in Pleasantville. They look at the fire, but do not know what to do, as all they have ever had to do is save cats trapped in trees, and so Bud/David has to show them how to work their equipment.

Punch-Drunk Love (2002)

Corrected entry: While Barry is making some calls from the Hawaii phone booth it suddenly gets dark, and the light in the phone booth goes on. Later, when he meets Lena at the hotel, it's broad daylight again. (01:02:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: The scene where Barry and Lena meet at the hotel is shot very artistically with artifical backlighting. After this scene, they are again shown outside (having dinner), where it is still dark.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie when the Mohicans are hunting the deer Daniel Day-Lewis all of a sudden has a bare upper body. It's unlikely that he undressed himself running full speed, especially with the strap of his bag being in the way. (00:02:40)

NancyFelix

Correction: You see Nathaniel (Day-Lewis) tying his top around his waste as he re-appears in shot. It is therefore perfectly acceptable that he has managed to strip while running full speed, and probably took his bag off to do it as Uncas hands him back his gun as though he was holding it for him while Nathaniel stripped down.

Corrected entry: When Idgie drives by the church sitting on a truck she comments on Reverend Scroggins' sermon. Scroggins' voive may have been quite voluminous, but as the church door was closed and the vintage truck was rather noisy she didn't have a chance to pick up anything the reverend was saying. (00:25:40)

NancyFelix

Correction: There is a shot that shows the topic of the week's sermon on the church's sign. Idgie doesn't need to hear him to know what he's preaching about.

Corrected entry: I'm not an expert in theology but I cant imagine that a Jewish congregation sings Christian hymns at a service in a synagogue. (00:25:20)

NancyFelix

Correction: They sing "Ein Kelohenu", which is not a Christian hymn.

The Ring (2002)

Corrected entry: When Rachel leafs through Katie's notebook the last entry is a drawing of the Ring. Katie drew it with such force that the pen made a hole in the paper, but when Rachel turns the page the next sheet is in pristine condition. (00:50:50)

NancyFelix

Correction: If you watch carefully (especially in slow motion), you can see that Rachel turns about 5 pages instead of one. Of course, we were not meant to see this as it was meant to be the last thing Katie drew, and to have pen marks on the other page would spoil the effect. But indeed, Katie used such force that you can still see a dent on the open page anyway.

The Godfather (1972)

Corrected entry: Tattaglia tells Tom that the Godfather survived in spite of having been shot five times. But even if the first two bullets missed while he was running we can tell from the way the hitmen aimed at him that he is hit close range at least nine times while he is leaning against his car. (00:43:05 - 00:50:00)

NancyFelix

Correction: It's quite possible that the information he is getting about The Godfather's shooting is not totally accurate. The Godfather may have actually been hit nine times, but unless he is getting the info directly from the doctor, it's possible that "the word on the street" doesn't parallel with the medical reality of The Godfather's condition.

Corrected entry: In Munro's office Cora is wearing earrings. In the scene following immediately (treating Uncas's wounds) she's not wearing any. I can't see any particular reason why she should have taken them off. (00:43:10)

NancyFelix

Correction: The scene is not immediately after and she may have found them in the way if she had to help wounded by letting them put weight on her shoulder.

Corrected entry: The last scene is a flashback where Vito's offspring are waiting for him at his birthday, where a few things don't look OK. First Sonny introduces Tom's "girl" Teresa who seems to be more a housemaid as her only duty is to set the table and carry the birthday cake away. Then Sonny and Michael start a fight where Sonny's tightly buttoned jacket opens up and closes within seconds. Finally Fredo disappears from his seat and we don't know why and how. (01:04:45)

NancyFelix

Correction: Teresa's not having any dialogue isn't a mistake, Sonny's jacket doesn't just pop open and we see Sonny ordering Fredo out of the room, after Fredo tries to congratulate Michael.

Corrected entry: When Connie asks Michael to pay for her trip to Europe she tells one of Michael's men (Al) to fix a drink for her boyfriend Merle. When the camera is on Michael we can see that Al gets busy behind the counter, but when Connie shouts "You are not my father." Al disappears and never returns, let alone with a drink. (00:24:45)

NancyFelix

Correction: The conversation between Michael and Connie quickly grows heated and it makes perfect sense that Al would not want to interrupt, by handing a drink to a man the Godfather disdains.

Corrected entry: Andy asks a bank clerk to put an envelope into their outgoing mail. This envelope contains all information about the criminal goings-on at Shawshank and is addressed to a newspaper. When Norton sees the headline in the paper, which could be, at best, two days later, he opens the safe to find the hole in the bible where the rock hammer was hidden. It's unimaginable that he would have waited for so long after Andy's escape to check the contents of the safe. (01:55:35)

NancyFelix

Correction: The warden certainly did check the safe as soon as Andy escaped but only to confirm that the contents were still there. It was only once he saw the headline that he really looked inside the book.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: When Red goes to the Mexican border the bus is totally empty on the right side, while on the left side (the hot, sunny side) there's a passenger behind every window. (02:09:45)

NancyFelix

Correction: A slightly unusual choice but hardly a movie mistake. It's not a mistake for people to want to sit in the sun and it's safe to assume the position of the sun with respect to the bus would change during the journey so maybe they were on the shady side at the start.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: When Andy escapes during a thunderstorm every lightning strike, be it heard close or distant, is accompanied by its thunder exactly at the very moment it strikes. (01:53:00)

NancyFelix

Correction: I've watched this scene again and it's clear that the thunder storm is right overhead so that the thunder and lightening are coincident. There may be an impression that it's sometimes close and sometimes distant simply because it's not always the same volume which is normal.

tw_stuart

Corrected entry: When Andy escapes through the tunnel he had dug during his 19 years at Shawshank it looks several meters long. Since his cell was on an upper floor it must have been through a wall of unheard-of thickness. (01:51:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: There's no shot in the movie which gives a clear idea of exactly how long the tunnel is. It is not stretching credibility to imagine that a prison would have unusually thick walls.
