Continuity mistake: During the race, a T-rex pops out and bites a chunk off the rollcage on Aech's truck and then get's distracted by an IOI car. Aech's truck levels out and is driving normally, but then it cuts to a different angle showing a close up of Parzival in his DeLorean and suddenly Aech's truck has its front wheels up in the air and is in the middle of bouncing around. Aech did not hit a bump at that moment, during the cut, Aech's truck was instantly up in the air. (00:14:50)

Trivia: In the race, Art3mis gets side swiped by a Sixer and skids to a stop as they pass by a movie theater in the city. On the billboard for the theater it shows "Schwarzenegger Jack Slater III". This is a reference to the 1993 film Last Action Hero, where in it Schwarzenegger plays a movie character inside a movie known as the Jack Slater series with the film's protagonist, getting sucked inside the Jack Slater IV film with a magic ticket. The start of the film shows Danny going to see Jack Slater III and the billboard in Ready Player one is nearly identical to the one in the Last Action Hero movie except without the word "is" after Schwarzenegger. Continuity mistake: During the race, an 18 wheeler crashes in front of the racers that Art3mis slides under on her bike. One of the IOI drivers gets decapitated by this right after and then Parzival activates the hover mode on the DeLorean and turn sideways to get under the truck. As he turns sideways, he opens his passenger door to scoop up coins and you see it almost fully opened up in the shot from behind. But as he's sliding under the truck it cuts to a view from the other side and suddenly the door is only just now starting to open. (00:14:10)

Trivia: Once Parzival enters the portal taking him to the race, the camera pans over the vehicles and you can see the A-Team van in the line up. You get a more clear view of it when the bridge comes out and connects to the street they are on. And then once again as the cars are reaching the "hotwheels" jump in the race, the van is on the DeLorean's left. (00:10:30 - 00:12:30)

Trivia: The car that Parzival uses in the race is the DeLorean, complete with all it's customization and advances, from the Back to the Future movies. Steven Spielberg, the director of Ready Player One, was also the Executive Producer of the Back to the Future trilogy with his company Amblin Entertainment. Spielberg only allowed the DeLorean to appear as a reference and tribute to BTTF director Robert Zemeckis, rather than himself. Despite Spielberg's overwhelming impact on pop culture throughout the decades, direct Spielberg references were rather deliberately omitted from "Ready Player One" by Spielberg himself. Ironically, he intended to include references to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (Spielberg's second blockbuster after "Jaws"), but he couldn't negotiate a licensing agreement with Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros. Continuity mistake: As Wade explains what Sixers are, he introduces the audience to the film's villain, Sorrento. Sorrento is walking up to a railing over looking the Sixers getting into their virtual cars and he leans up casually against it, resting mostly on his right arm with his elbow bent as he leans to one side with his left arm outstretched a bit. But then it cuts to a close up and suddenly he's leaning forward resting on both arms with them out stretched in front of him. (00:11:20)

Trivia: In the video that Halliday left behind after his death, you see floral arrangements around his coffin that are in the shape of the Star Trek's Federation symbol and one of the Enterprise. But the really cool thing is his coffin is actually a photon torpedo, exactly like Spock was put in after his death at the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Trivia: When Wade is talking about how when you die in the game, you lose everything you ever worked for, there is one shot of a little girl throwing her OASIS goggles off and screaming in a fit of rage. Behind her on the wall is a poster for the 1982 game, Donkey Kong Junior. Also behind her you can see a blue Care Bear plush toy on her bed, as well as some small Care Bear figurines on the shelf against the wall to the right. (00:06:10)

Question: When the guy playing as Jason Voorhees gets killed in the OASIS, he throws off his goggles in a fit of rage and attempts to jump out the window to commit suicide. He's at work with other workers and surrounded by Dell computers. Am I mistaken... or are those modern day Dell computers? This movie takes place in 2045 and to me it seems unrealistic for a Japanese/Chinese company to be using almost 30 year old computers. (00:06:50)
Answer: I didn't notice the computers, but yes, you're right. They could have put Plexiglass boxes with glowing lights inside on everyone's desks where an electronic device might go, no wires, with maybe a place to put the headset onto for charging. I think that would have looked futuristic and been acceptable to the movie viewers. (Or maybe a pyramid design instead of a box design.) But someone else might suggest that the owner of the business where all the people work (if it is a business) might have opted for the "retro look" even though the computers/electronics inside are far beyond what they look like.;-).
Answer: 25 years from now a computer will still need an input device, a display device, and a box to hold the processor. Why would computers change all that radically? As the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Computers have changed appearance radically over the past 10, 20, 30 years. Yes a computer from 1999 would have had an "input, display and box" but there's a stark difference in technology and design between that era and the modern day.
Since most people play on their own in their own homes and only on the Oasis, what a computer looks like seems much less important.

Trivia: After Wade and Aech identify the artifact on Planet DOOM, the camera pans over a hill as a rocket hits, sending people flying. It keeps panning over and on a ledge you can see the Japanese sumo wrestler from Street Fighter known as E-Honda bashing people off the ledge and striking his famous pose. (00:06:10)

Answer: It is not uncommon for movies set in the future to include technology or brands from the era that they were made. For example, futuristic movies like Back to the Future Part II, Blade Runner or Alien include technology and brands that were popular when they were made, as well as appear just as they appeared at the time their respective movies were made, but become outdated as the years go by. This is done mainly because the filmmakers do not know what the real technologies or brands will be in 2045 so they have to use modern technologies and brands of our time to include in the movie. Though sometimes the technologies and brands can be incorporated with the technology the future setting in the movie has established to make it feel as real as possible.
