Continuity mistake: When the uptight mom starts talking, Melanie sheds a very long tear under her right eye that appears out of nowhere between shots. (01:28:35)

Continuity mistake: After Mitch finished pouring out the drinks for Melanie and himself there was still a little bit left in the bottle. He never pours out any more but as they get to the bottom of the hill when they throw away their glasses the bottle is empty. (00:51:35)

Continuity mistake: After rescuing her Mitch picks Melanie up and carries her down the stairs. At first her right leg is sticking straight out and her left is bent but in the next shot both her legs are bent. (01:49:50)

Continuity mistake: Melanie starts to blow the horn of the cream colored station wagon and we see her left hand go from flailing around to being firmly on the steering wheel between shots.

Continuity mistake: As Lydia sits in her bed and says to Melanie, "I don't think I can bear to be left alone" watch the picture behind the door to the right of Melanie. The shadow of the door on the picture changes from the right to left between shots. (01:07:00)

Continuity mistake: After finding Mr. Faucet's body, Lydia gets back in her truck through the passenger side door. Notice that the window is rolled up and the side vent window is shut tight. Seconds later we see her inside the truck with the window rolled down and the vent window tilted open. (01:00:55)

Continuity mistake: After the birds break the window, Mitch tries to close the shutter and they peck at his left hand bloodying it up. In the next shot as he finally gets the shutter closed there's no blood on his hands. After this he ties the window shut with the cord from the lamp and the blood on his hands is back again. Continuity mistake: We see the back of Mitch's coat as he reaches for the doorknob of the restaurant. It's wetter in the next shot as he brings Melanie back into the restaurant. (01:27:45)

Continuity mistake: Mitch puts the glass of brandy up to Melanie's lips and we see the brandy touch her upper lip and slosh around but then as he pulls it back there's not a trace of liquid on her lips. (01:50:45)

Continuity mistake: On top of the hill Melanie spills a drop of her drink on her green skirt. It's on her right leg six inches below the bottom of her jacket. The action doesn't stop, but three minutes later the stain is gone. (00:48:40 - 00:51:25)

Continuity mistake: Mr. Faucet's tiny windows are not wide enough to let in the amount of sunlight that's shining on him from left to right on such an overcast day. (01:00:30)

Continuity mistake: As Mitch crouches down near Annie's body he turns to look at Melanie and you can see a large wet stain on the porch. It's there until he sees Cathy in the window, then as he runs to the front door it disappears. (01:30:30)

Continuity mistake: When Melanie yells, "Where's Cathy?" Mitch looks up to see her in the window and she is moving the right curtain with her hand as she cries. In the next shot as Mitch runs to the door the curtain is not moving. (01:30:40)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie approaches the pet shop cashier she passes two cages on her right with birds in them. The cage with the two yellow birds that she shows to Mitch is not one of them nor is it behind the second cage where it appears later. (00:02:30 - 00:06:00)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie climbs out of the boat, she holds her pocketbook around her arm with the latch facing her body. After she enters the house the latch is facing outward and she's never taken it off her arm. (00:21:50)

Continuity mistake: The book on the table to the left of Melanie's brandy glass has been made to look as though someone has been reading it. When we first see it the cover is closed now the cover looks as though it's been thumbed through even though no one touched it. (00:46:55)

Continuity mistake: When Annie decides to have some brandy also they cut back to Melanie and the lamp that was behind her disappears. We don't see it again until the end of the scene where it's been moved again. (00:42:55 - 00:45:30)
