Continuity mistake: Captain Willard gets off the PBR and goes looking for Kilgore. A large piece of driftwood appears floating in the water to the right of the boat between shots. (00:25:15)

Continuity mistake: While he's standing Col. Kilgore says, "I can take that point and hold it is long as I like". Chief Phillips' left hand goes from leaning on his leg to rubbing his face between shots at the beach party. (00:33:40)

Continuity mistake: After the Captain passes Francis Ford Copola he walks up to a helicopter unloading some soldiers. There's no one near the captain but in the next shot after the helicopter takes off he bumps into a soldier. (00:26:05)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard and the men get off the PBR and walk to their right about 30 feet in the direction of the hut that is destroyed by the boat with the teeth painted on it. In the next shot when they run into Francis Ford Copola they're back to where they started as we see the boat directly behind them. (00:25:50)

Continuity mistake: Clean starts out to the left of Captain Willard, then just before Colonel Kilgore lands he's behind the Captain chasing his helmet. In the next shot as the helicopter lands he's now in front of the Captain. (00:26:45)

Continuity mistake: As he blows "charge" the trumpet player's scarf turns into a collar the last time we see him as the helicopter leaves. (00:35:10)

Continuity mistake: As they approach the shore to meet up with Colonel Kilgore, there's another boat with teeth painted on it's front next to them on their right. In the next shot they arrive on shore and the other boat is much further behind them. (00:25:00)

Continuity mistake: After Captain Willard looks at the picture of Colonel Kurtz being decorated by General Westmorland, they're all startled by the "Arc light" B-52 strike, note the rear machine gun is pointing forward and a helmet is hanging from the middle machine gun. In the next shot the rear machine gun is pointing aft and the helmet is now gone. (00:24:05)

Continuity mistake: After the death card scene, Captain Willard walks past a cistern and a grenade explodes in it. In this shot you can see that it's sunset but in the next three shots it goes from the afternoon to evening then back to the afternoon again. (00:28:20)

Continuity mistake: As the Captain goes looking for Colonel Kilgore, there's a sampan docked on the shore with it's sail unfurled. In the previous shot, as the PBR approached the shore, the sail had been folded up. (00:25:30)

Continuity mistake: In the shot of a priest saying the Lord's Prayer, we see smoke rising from an attack by a flamethrower behind him. In the next shot there's no smoke until the flamethrower fires again. (00:30:55)

Continuity mistake: Before leaving the beach party Kilgore says, " Lance, go with Mike and let him pick out a board for you." Lance goes from looking down at the ground to looking up at the Colonel between shots. (00:33:55)

Continuity mistake: Colonel Kilgore walks away from his helicopter saying, "Body cards, bring my body cards." Behind him is a radioman and an antenna that is kinked at a 45 degree angle. Two shots later the antenna is standing straight up without adjustment. (00:27:10)

Continuity mistake: During the beach party as Captain Willard is saying, "He was one of those guys that had that weird light around him." Note he is holding a cigarette and drinking a Schlitz, with four cans of Budweiser in front of him. In his next shot, just seconds later, there is another can of beer and the cigarette is gone despite the fact he has not moved at all. (00:32:00)

Continuity mistake: As they come to shore to meet up with Colonel Kilgore, the Captain is crouching on the front of the PBR. In the next shot as he jumps off the boat he's standing. (00:25:15)

Continuity mistake: When the Captain asks the Chief for the binoculars the boat is standing still but in the next shot as the Captain is watching Kilgore's men they're moving rapidly towards the shore. However, in the next shot, a close-up of the Captain, the ship is back in the same place and standing still. (00:24:40)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard is wearing green, tan and black camouflage trousers on the PBR when they spot Kilgore's air-cav unit. They immediately proceed toward shore and as he jumps off of the boat he's wearing different camouflage trousers, which are brown and green. (00:24:15 - 00:25:15)

Continuity mistake: There's no indication that Captain Willard didn't leave for his mission immediately after having dinner with the General, being that his R&R was over. That nasty cut on his thumb is all healed without any band-aid on it by the time we see him in the next scene on the PBR. There was also a dark scab on his middle finger that was there as he smoked a cigarette in the end of the scene with the general that has also disappeared. (00:20:30)

Continuity mistake: Clean's dog tag and cross change between scenes. When he first hears the "Arc light" B-52 strike we see the cross hanging at the same level as the dog tag then when he meets Colonel Kilgore the chains have been rearranged so that the dog tag is two inches lower than the top of the cross. (00:24:10 - 00:30:05)

Continuity mistake: After Captain Willard emerges from the room from killing Colonel Kurtz, he has a great deal of blood and oil on his chest and shoulders. When he grabs Lance to go back to the PBR he has mud and water droplets on his chest. (03:13:20)
