Continuity mistake: Melanie walks out from behind the desk and goes into the hallway to get the nightgown to show Annie. No one ever flicked a light switch, but the hallway is now very well lit up. (00:46:40)

Continuity mistake: On the last leg of Melanie's journey just before she enters Bodega Bay she's driving on a dirt road, but they dub in the sound of her tires screeching on pavement as she negotiates the turns. (00:11:45)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie and Mitch walk down the hill Annie and Cathy are standing in the middle of the yard with two other children between them and the lounge chair. In the next shot as we see Lydia carrying the cake, the two children disappear and Annie and Cathy have moved to the left closer to the door. (00:51:35)

Continuity mistake: After she throws up, Melanie brings Cathy back out from the bathroom and the scales on the table and the curtains behind them are very well lit. No one turned off any lights, but a few shots later when the birds start the next attack Melanie stands and the scales and curtain are in the dark. (01:40:10)

Continuity mistake: No one touches the two yellow buoys on the end of Mitch's doc, but after Melanie leaves the birds in the house they've changed position relative to the wooden planks underneath. (00:23:10)

Continuity mistake: Melanie hasn't been near her car since the attack on the children at the school. Now as she and Mitch pass it while walking to Annie's, we can see the front wheels have been turned all the way to the right. (01:29:50)

Continuity mistake: In the party scene the close-up of Melanie, Annie and Mitch together had to be shot at a totally different time. Before, the structure behind the swing set had a long shadow across its window. Now the window has no shadow on it at all. (00:52:30)

Continuity mistake: When Melanie first reaches into her pocketbook for the card she's about a foot away from the cage. In the next shot as she puts the card against the cage her pocketbook is practically touching the seat. (00:22:25)

Continuity mistake: After dinner with Mitch, Melanie walks into Annie's apartment and between shots the shadow of Annie's head appears out of nowhere against the wall. (00:41:05)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie opens Mitch's front door, her pocketbook is strapped around her wrist. In the next shot, as she comes through the door, the pocketbook is up around her forearm. (00:22:10)
