The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: The character who has the smoke grenade in his mouth when the Joker gets on the bus at the beginning should have just spit it out and crawled off. Nobody in their right mind would have kept biting down on it waiting to have the pin pulled.

Correction: An item the size of a grenade exceeds the jaw's ability to open and remove an item (without assistance of a hand) and thus he was unable to simply spit it out. It is a matter of physical ability and not desire to do so.

88 Minutes (2007)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Al Pacino grabs the students phone in his classroom and asks him the score of the Mariners game it is in the bottom of the first inning. According to the 88 minute timeline this puts the time around 10:30am. Major League baseball games usually start at 1pm local time at the earliest.

Correction: Not true, the Seattle Mariners do occasionally have earlier start times to their day games. This is to accommodate the TV/radio broadcasts in Japan, the home of Mariner Superstar, Ichiro Suzuki. Japanese broadcast considerations are a special clause in his contract. Recently, we had a 11:00am first pitch, so it is possible that there was a game in the first inning prior to 1:00pm.

Twilight (2008)

Corrected entry: In the scene at the hospital, there are chest x-rays in the background. The chest x-ray on the far left is hung upside down.

Correction: It is common that X-rays are placed on the reader boxes by others (radiology technicians, nurses, etc) while pending review by the doctor. They know that when the doctor comes to read the X-ray they will place it in whatever position is correct, or best suits their ability to best see the area they are making a diagnosis.

Mamma Mia! (2008)

Corrected entry: During one of Sam and Sophie's private talks, Sam says he has two grown sons. He went home and got married after Sophie had been conceived, therefore his oldest son could not be older than 19.

Correction: The age of 18 is considered to be the age a child becomes an adult and thus considered a grown child. It is indeed physically possible he has children the ages of 18 and 19 or even twins.

Ratatouille (2007)

Corrected entry: Being the small rat Remy is, he wouldn't have been able to generate enough momentum to move the book AND break through the window when he's being chased by the crazy shotgun lady.

Correction: Adrenalin is an amazing stimulus, one that almost all members of the human and animal kingdom share physiologically. It can allow the frail elderly lift cars from loved ones and it can also permit a rodent of any size the ability to generate all sorts of momentum.

Monk (2002)

Correction: Not so. It is at the discretion of both the Prosecuting and Defense Attorney whom they seat on the jury and whom they excuse, taking into consideration the type of trial, nature of the offense and credibility of the juror. My father is a retired police officer and was called for jury duty and seated three times during and after his tenure with the police department.

The Dirty Dozen (1967)

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the movie where American soldiers were trying to remove the tops of the air vents, a German sniper has his cross-hairs on a soldier's forehead. When the sniper shoots, the next view is of the American putting his hands up to his face. The American was shot in the forehead which would negate any conscious after the fact movements on his part.

Correction: Not necessarily so. There have been many documented cases of people being shot in all parts of the head (some more than once) who retain consciousness and control over their actions/movements.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: When Han fires his blaster at the hatch of the trash compactor in an attempt to open it, the blast creates burn marks on the left side of the hatch. If you watch it in slow motion, the burn marks are there before the laserbolt hits the hatch. Then, when the laserbolt ricochets around the room, and in the rest of the scene, the burn marks disappear, reappear and change shape and position.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: Watch in slow-motion when Alderaan explodes: it looks as if it's an explosion superimposed over a planet image. There's also a strange thing moving on the upper left corner. It looks like a reflection of the explosion on something.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: If you look carefully during the prison escape you can see a few pieces of brass shell casings falling from the "blaster" rifles. Depending on how well your tape heads work in your VCR, you may be able to hit the pause/slow button and see the breach open on Han's gun as well, but if it hasn't been cleaned the sides of the guns are too blurred to see the bolt coming back.

Correction: Per site guidelines mistakes that require stop or slow motion to view are not considered valid mistakes.

The Muppet Movie (1979)

Corrected entry: When Fozzy and Kermit are singing the song "Movin' Right Along", a verse that Fozzy says is "I've never seen the sun rise in the west" or something like that. I know this is a silly movie, but it is impossible for the sun to rise in the west, it's supposed to rise in the east.

Correction: They're lost and are heading east instead of west. This is a reference to the opening line in this verse, "Movin' right along, hey L. A., where've you gone? Send someone to fetch us, we're in Saskatchewan!" They've been expecting to see Los Angeles, off to the west but are heading east-wards towards Saskatchewan, hence their surprise at seeing the sun rise in what they think is the west.

The Muppet Movie (1979)

Corrected entry: When Kermit and Fozzy stop to see the man who is responsible for the whole "frog legs" thing, Kermit says, "Myth" and a girl pops out behind the billboard. Later on, as Kermit is walking around the billboard talking with the man, the girl is no longer there.

Correction: This scene is meant to be a joke, playing on Kermit's pronunciation of "Myth" sounding like "Miss" prompting the appearance of the girl. Once the joke was complete, so was her place in the movie. This is intentional and not a mistake.

Dawson's Creek (1998)

Downtown Crossing (2) - S5-E15

Corrected entry: When the Mugger asks to see Joey, the Dr. explains to Joey about his condition as they walk to his hospital room. The Dr. tells her that the Mugger had undergone surgery to try to save his life, and had a 'sucking chest wound' which is obviously a substantial injury. Yet when they show the Mugger in the hospital bed, he is bare from the waist up. There are absolutely no signs of surgery or incisions anywhere that can be seen on camera, which is illogical considering all his internal bleeding and a massive chest wound.

Correction: In most cases a "sucking chest wound" is a reference to a punctured lung, sucking being the sound the doctor hears through the stethoscope. This can easily (and most commonly does) happen internally without any external injury, often a broken rib will puncture the lung and cause bleeding in the chest cavity. If a chest tube is put in to re-inflate the lung and drain blood from the cavity, it will always be inserted from the side and not readily visible when looking at someone straight on.

Just Cause (1995)

Corrected entry: When they are about to electrocute Ed Harris, Sean Connery is on the phone. The lights go out for a short time, and the phone call cuts off. However, phone lines work even when electricity goes out.

Correction: While the phone lines continue to work the ability to use the phone is dependent on the type of actual telephone system used in the building. It is common in many larger facilities (like schools, jails and large office buildings) to use a internal network server that is dependant on electricity to function.

The X-Files (1993)

Correction: I fail to see how this is a mistake, she did not say she had to wrap all the packages in her car just that she had wrapping to do, which she does with the other packages. Many stores offer complimentary gift wrapping and it is very common to see people out shopping with some packages wrapped and others in need of wrapping.

Heroes (2006)

Show generally

Corrected entry: At the beginning, Peter is in the bar where Ricky was killed. The scene is marked with yellow "crime scene - do not cross" lines - but these are used in USA, not in Britain.

Correction: This is simply incorrect. Not only is yellow crime scene tape used in many jurisdictions in the UK, but a Google search brought up a number of businesses in the UK that sell the tape. In fact, all came with a disclaimer that the tape could only be sold to the police force.

Aladdin (1992)

Corrected entry: When Jasmine is accused of stealing at the apple stand, she says she has no money. Coinage was a rarity at that time period and bartering was much more common, so why didn't the vendor or Jasmine consider those enormous gold or brass earrings and headband?

Mike Wotton

Correction: The movie is intended for children, who are unlikely to understand bartering concepts but would be familiar with money and paying for things. For trivial plot points like this it seems they tried to stick with terms and concepts that children could quickly comprehend.

oldbaldyone

Correction: Jasmine was unfamiliar with markets and, being a Princess, the concept of bartering as well. I have just watched the scene and her headband is never visible to the vendor and her earrings, while partially visible, are very close in color to her scarf; this could easily explain why the vendor failed to notice them, particularly combined with Aladdin's fast talking rescue of Jasmine distracting the vendor.
