The Tudors mistake picture

Episode 2 - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: When Buckingham is about to be arrested, the camera is looking directly at him. At this angle, his black fur collar is flipped up, covering the neck of his white shirt. When the scene changes to a wide shot behind him, the collar is folded down. (00:35:00 - 00:35:50)

The Chicken Roaster - S8-E8

Continuity mistake: When Kramer spills the tomato juice all over Jerry's walls, he grabs a light colored oven mitt to wipe it off. In one shot he wrings out the sopping mitt over the juice pitcher. When the shot changes and he tosses the mitt back onto the counter, the mitt is still the original color with no hint of red stains.

The Bewitchin' Pool - S5-E36

Deliberate mistake: Sport's voice is noticeably dubbed by a different actor in several scenes throughout the episode. Her voice inside Aunt T's house is the original audio track done by the child actor. During the other scenes, the voice is done by June Foray (uncredited).

Continuity mistake: While Gerald is speaking to Scarlett about Tara and land, the close-up shot shows that his hand and riding crop are up near her shoulder. When the shot changes to the wide angle with the matte painting background, his arm is down near her waist. (00:12:00 - 00:13:00)

Continuity mistake: After Jeff has kicked and punched Barney, he is lying on the ground and blood is covering his mouth and nose and is staining his blazer. When he gets up, the blood patterns have changed and his blazer is no longer stained.

Continuity mistake: In the beginning scene with Jason Robards and Jon Voight talking on the bench, there seems to be a difference in temperature between shots. When there is a close up of Jon Voight, you can see his breath in the cold air. When there is a close up of Jason Robards, no breath is visible at all.

The Others (2001)

Question: So is Charles, Grace's husband, dead too or is this another example of the worlds of the dead and living colliding?

Steph_Jared

Chosen answer: He is dead, but he has accepted it. He spirit is going to Heaven or Hell and has stopped to say goodbye to his wife and children on the way.

Grumpy Scot

Trivia: All of the scenes in this movie were shot in only one take and in one scene the technique really shows. When Jimmy Stewart is drunk, he ad-libbed hiccuping while he was talking. Cary Grant, not expecting the comic relief, had to look down at the floor to keep from laughing (you can see him grinning and collecting himself).

Derailed (2005)

Continuity mistake: When Charles answers his cell phone after being in the bath, the hand holding the phone is wet and covered in bubbles. In the subsequent shots, his hand and arm are completely dry.

Question: Does the color blue have any symbolic significance in this film? I've noticed that blue flowers are pretty prominent throughout the film as well as Annie's blue dress and Chris' blue suit in the last few scenes. It seems like the cinematographers took special care to make all the blues really stand out.

Steph_Jared

Chosen answer: Taken from http://dreemmoods.com/cgi-bin/searchcsv.pl?search=blue&method=exact&header=symbol: Blue represents truth, wisdom, heaven, eternity, devotion, tranquility, loyalty and openness. The presence of this color in your dream, may symbolize your spiritual guide and your optimism of the future. You have clarity of mind. Depending on the context of your dream, the color blue may also be a metaphor of "being blue" and feeling sad.

Easter egg: On Disc 1, go to the options menu and highlight the THX logo. Type in 11, 3 and 8 and you will be led to a funny clip of Yoda hanging out with the clone troopers.

Citizen Kane (1941)

Trivia: An interesting camera trick that Welles used during filming was that many of the shots of Kane were used with the camera looking up at him. For many of the "inferior" characters, the camera is always looking down on them - a subtle reminder of Kane's view of the world.

Citizen Kane (1941)

Trivia: Charles Foster Kane was based on publishing legend William Randolph Hearst and the movie has many in-jokes and gags given at Hearst's expense. The one that Hearst probably took the most offense to was the use of "Rosebud" in the film - it wasn't a childhood toy of his, but the pet name he had given his mistress' private parts.

Citizen Kane (1941)

Continuity mistake: When Kane and Susan are speaking in their mansion, Susan is busying herself with jigsaw puzzles. The wide shot shows the jigsaw puzzle almost completed, but Susan's close-up shows the jigsaw puzzle in pieces.

Factual error: Marianne quotes Hartley Coleridge's Sonnet VII to Elinor ("Is love a fancy or a feeling?") to inquire about her feelings for Edward. However, this sonnet was published for the first time in 1833 - some 22 years after Sense & Sensibility takes place in 1811.

Continuity mistake: During Samuel's death where Tristan is cradling him in his arms, there is a stream of blood at the corner of Samuel's mouth. The camera cuts to Tristan's reaction, but when it cuts back to Samuel, the blood is gone. In later shots of Tristan preparing to remove his heart, the blood stream reappears. (00:44:00 - 00:44:55)

Serendipity (2001)

Continuity mistake: Originally, the director was going to have the first meeting between Jon and Sara take place 10 years before they finally meet again, but later changed the difference to 7 years. When there is the close-up of Sara's Bloomingdale's receipt, the date printed is 1990, but for a 7 year difference, it should be 1993.

Love Actually (2003)

Question: What are some of the plot points that are covered between Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions within the "Enter the Matrix" video game?

Steph_Jared

Chosen answer: The game covers the retrieval from a post office of the information about the sentinels digging (information we see dropped at a post box in the Animatrix), the escape from the ambush at the start (ie. what's happening inside while Neo fights the agents), Ghost and Niobe getting into the matrix and ending up in a car behind Morpheus, further exploration of the mansion the Keymaker's held in (including more details on the type of program Persephone kills, ie. vampire-like), the destruction of the power plant, and Niobe's arrival at the end in her ship. In terms of specific plot, from memory there's nothing particularly significant - the game fleshes out minor events not seen in the film, but there's no particularly new information.

Jon Sandys

Question: This may sound like an odd question, but why do Trinity and Neo seem so desperate to see each other alone once they get back to Zion. They seem to have enough time for private moments while they are on the ship. Is sex on the Nebuchadnezzar forbidden?

Steph_Jared

Chosen answer: I doubt it is but from what we gather from the reaction of Link's girlfriend/wife, the Neb seems to see far more action than any other hovercraft in the fleet. It's likely that they spend most of their time jacked in rescuing people, or fleeing from sentinels. The neb's crew is also small, compared to its usual size (only four people compared to its original eight) so they'd all be involved in the piloting and gunning of the craft.

The Library - S3-E5

Independence Day (1996)

Trivia: A promotional piece that aired in Spain for this film set off a "War of the Worlds" type of wide spread panic. The promo featured a popular Spanish news anchor and the piece ran as if there really WAS an alien attack to occur on July 4. People believed the broadcast and panicked until officials spread the word that this was only a promo for a US movie. Confirmed on DVD commentary.

Trivia: The female dead body in the funeral home was a real actress, not a mannequin. Because the bug cocoon would be placed in her mouth until it is taken out in the middle of the examination, the prop master made the bug cocoon out of a mixture of tootsie rolls and gummie bears. This way if she accidentally swallowed it, it wouldn't do her any harm.

The Apprentice (2004)

Show generally

Deliberate mistake: Before each season begins filming, each potential apprentice is filmed leaving Trump Towers and entering the taxi as if they were just fired. Once the person is actually fired on the show, this becomes an obvious mistake as hairstyles, etc. change from the boardroom scene to the cast member's exit.

Pretty Woman (1990)

Question: Is there any particular reason Julia Robert's dress was changed from the blue and white dress she wears at the beginning of the movie to a black and pink version of the same dress on the movie poster and film/disc cover? I've always wondered why - there's really no reason for the change.

Steph_Jared

Chosen answer: Posters are usually designed long after the film has been made, and by the marketing department. Decisions about the outfit may have been based solely on what was considered best by the marketing department (for instance, to match the color of the lettering in the title.) Also, Julia Roberts' head has been super-imposed onto a model's body in the poster image (just as Richard Gere's hair has been darkened). These are all creative marketing decisions.
