Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: The Titanic strikes the iceberg on the right side of the ship. But when we see the wall on the inside bow of the ship get torn up, it is obviously on the left side.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: How can you distinct between what side it's on? Both of the sides are white and are curved outward. There is nowhere near enough evidence to conclude which side of the ship the water is entering.

Corrected entry: When the Griswolds get lost in the back streets of Missouri, they ask for directions from a local while his gang quietly steals their hubcaps. Firstly, why didn't they just take their luggage which would have been worth more. Secondly, why do they try and hide what they are doing?. Its not like the Griswolds could do anything about it anyway. Yes I know it only a comedy...but come on.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: They could have driven away if needed. It would have been dangerous but it was still doable. The gang steals the hubcaps because they don't know what's in the luggage so the hubcaps may be worth more. Also the luggage was tried down so the hubcaps could be removed quicker and easier than the luggage.

Corrected entry: When Marty is recovering from being hit by the car, his mom continually refers to him as Calvin. When Marty asks why, she responds "Well thats your name isn't it? Calvin Klein. It's written all over your underwear." But when Marty puts his pants on, we see his purple underwear and there is nothing written on them.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: The writing is on the waistband of the underwear which is covered by Marty's shirt. If you watch in slow-mo Marty lifts part of his shirt for a split second and you can see something written on them.

Groundhog Day (1993)

Corrected entry: When Phil Connors is giving the now deceased street bum mouth to mouth in an effort to save him, he raises his head to take another breath and you can see the breath from the old man rising, even though he is supposed to be dead. And it can't be Phil's as it is rising.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: He just gave the old man a lungful. Of course the old man will be breathing out. He's not able to hold it in. The weight of the chest is simply pushing the air out.

Liar Liar (1997)

Correction: Not true at all. I fly for business several times a month, and I usually am offered a beverage before we take off. This usually happens in First Class, but I have received beverages in coach as well.

Man of the House (2005)

Corrected entry: Jones' character bumps into Anne Archer at the supermarket and they both walk out into the carpark. As Archer is about to leave, Jones asks if she would like to have dinner over his house the next night and she agrees before leaving. But Jones never gave her his address and they never exchanged phone numbers, so how did she know where he lived?

Gavin Jackson

Correction: She knew he was staying with the girls, maybe she already knew where they lived, or since she was a member of the faculty of the school she could look up where the girls lived.

Superman III (1983)

Corrected entry: Robert Vaughn uses the super computer to try and kill superman whilst Richard Pryor looks on helplessly. But when Pryor first pitched the idea of the computer to Vaughn (along with the blueprints), he said that the computer would only do what HE told it to do.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: He didn't mean it literally, like voice-print analysis or something. He knew that Vaughn's character knows nothing about computers, so Pryor would probably be the one entering the commands for him.

The Time Machine (1960)

Corrected entry: If Weena did NOT want to be saved when she was drowning in the river, then why was she screaming? The only possible reason anyone would be screaming in such a situation is if they did want to be rescued.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: Screaming in a situation like that is human instinct. They may have the adopted mentality to not care, but they weren't born that way, they must have been taught it, because if people were born not caring, then that would not control the species.

Logan's Run (1976)

Corrected entry: When all the people from the city arrive on the earth's surface at the end, all we see is the citizens. What happened to all the sandmen?

Gavin Jackson

Correction: Sandmen are a very small %age of the population. As an 'elite' police squad, they really only have one crime to handle: running. Therefore their population count drops even lower. As the only law enforcement of the city, those on active duty would have remained within the city attempting to stop the mass exodus.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film, the Clampetts received $1 billion after they strike oil. During the course of the film, they own a mansion, cars, new furniture and clothes etc etc. Then at the end, Woodrow Tyler is attempting to transfer all their money which is stated as ONE BILLION DOLLARS. So did they get everything free or something?

Gavin Jackson

Correction: The money would have been invested. Interest, dividends, and capital gains on that type of money could have easily paid for everything they bought.

Corrected entry: Kreese must truly be a great martial artist. At the beginning, he singlehandedly attacks four of his students knocking them all out while holding another one in his other arm and choking him. Quite an amazing feat. Yet only moments later, not only does he unsuccessfully try to punch Miyagi in the face, he fails to notice that Miyagi is standing in front of a car window both times which anyone with his rank should know is a dumb move. Not very plausible.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: You're absolutely right. Attacking Mr. Miyagi the way Kreese did is a bad move, and any rational person would see that. However, Kreese is overconfident in his abilities, has underestimated Mr. Miyagi's abilities, and is acting toward Mr. Miyagi out of anger. After smashing the first car window, he becomes even more angry and that leads to him smashing the second car window. Yes, Kreese's actions were dumb, but they are completely plausible in light of Kreese's overconfidence, his underestimation of Mr. Miyagi, and his acting out of anger which causes him not to think rationally about his behavior.

Correction: It's probably just a shock to the system. He didn't expect to be getting a lapdance off a man.

Stripes (1981)

Correction: He could have been posing for a reconstruction as opposed to being 'in the field.'

School of Rock (2003)

Corrected entry: On her first meeting with Dewey, wouldn't Miss Mullins be a little suspicious of the fact that not only has Dewey lost the deep voice that he was using over the phone, but also that he sounds an awful lot like "Mr Schneebly's Roommate?"

Gavin Jackson

Correction: She obviously wasn't suspicious; she desperately needs a teacher and didn't over-analyse. At worst, this is a character mistake.

Man of the House (2005)

Corrected entry: In real life, anyone carrying a fake machine gun onto a football field during a major game even just for a prank would have faced criminal charges. Tommy lee Jones was doing the right thing by tackling him and shouldn't have been frowned upon.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: This is correct for fans, etc. but mascots are there to prank and jest, therefore would not normally be jacked up for having a prop like that.

EMTurbo

Corrected entry: When Luke gets into his X-wing with Artoo on Hoth, everyone just seems to be walking around casually and no one seems to be in a real hurry. Given that their base has just been overrun by Darth Vader and the empire, I find this very hard to believe.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: They are highly trained and not rattled by stressfull situations.

Chicken Run (2000)

Corrected entry: At the end when Ginger gets Nick and Fetcher to steal tools from the Tweedy's so they can build their plane, why didn't she simply get them to do some more damage to the pie machine in order to buy some time in making the plane?.

Gavin Jackson

Correction: Character mistake, not a movie mistake.

Tailkinker

Correction: As the stuntman and Harrison Ford probably spent many weeks in the jacket in the desert, the answer would have to be 'No'.

Cellular (2004)

Corrected entry: When Ryan overhears the main bad cop threatening Kim Basinger, the voices are perfectly clear as if they were both speaking right next to the phone. But the broken phone on Kim's end was on the floor and covered with a sheet to hide from the cop. The voices would have been muted and impossible to understand. (00:17:15)

Gavin Jackson

Correction: The material that Jessica uses to cover the phone is made of knitted yarn. Yarn's density is very light so it wouldn't be surprising if the phone picked up all the sound in the room. For this same reason the bad guy would also be able to hear the loud music from the phone later in the movie.

X-Men 2 (2003)

Corrected entry: When Cyclops goes to check if Jean Grey is alright after recovering from Stryker's mind control, we see him walk around and grab Jean before quickly assuring her that he is fine. Trouble is, we only see him walking to find her. Given their serious situation and his love for Jean, he would definitely have being moving much faster (running even).

Gavin Jackson

Correction: Given that he's just attacked her, rushing up to her would be the worst thing to do - far better to approach at a more measured pace, despite his concerns, to give her time to see that he's not being hostile, so that she doesn't lash out and fling him across the room again.
