Corrected entry: When Christine is singing "Think of me" and the camera view changes to show her in full costume later that night, it is quite obvious that there are stage lights (aka spotlights) shining on her. However, at the beginning of the film, we are told that the chandelier has been fitted with the "new electric light." If electric lights were new in the early 1900's, then they could not have been in use in 1870.

Peter Vanicelli

Correction: As could be seen during the transformation scene earlier (old to new), those aren't spotlights, but theatre lights, using candles/gaslight and reflectors.

Timeline (2003)

Corrected entry: When you go back in time to catch up with someone shouldn't you be in the EXACT time and place where the other arrived? You shouldn't be days or so late because the machine was configured to send you to that same time. We can't presume to say that the machine was erratic because when they were sent as a group they all arrived at the same place and time. Of course, by then the movie would be over. This is typical of most time travel movies.

Correction: They say that they don't fully understand how the machine works and that they can,t pinpoint the landing site. The same thing probably goes for the date: they can set a ballpark arriving dtae, but that's about it. Furthermore, because of that, the time travelling could be seen as continuous, i.e. those arriving second will get to the past after those who left first.

Correction: Right after having won the auction, Raoul says that the music box is just as Christine had described it. He had never seen it, but because of her talking about it, he was still able to recognise it right away.

Sereenie

Corrected entry: We first see Carlotta in a rehearsal for the opera "Hannibal," that is supposed to open that same night. The directors request her to sing the aria from the third act, then the accident occurs, and Carlotta storms out. Christine takes over the aria, and it is decided she will perform on the first night. Then there is a cut to that first night, Christine singing the aria in question, but in a costume and in sets that have obviously nothing whatsoever to do with "Hannibal."

Ioreth

Correction: Carlotta throws her tantrum because her dress for the third act aria isn't ready - she says so herself. Of course it wouldn't be ready for Christine either, who then has to wear *something* for it.

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, after Bridget calls out her window to Mark and he doesn't answer she pulls her head back inside and closes the window. She then turns around because of the sound of paper flapping, however there is no wind coming in since she just closed the window.

Correction: She doesn't turn around because she hears paper flapping, but because she's confused about what she should do - don't forget that at that point, she has no idea why Mark left. Besides, a breeze doesn't travel instantaneously through space. It happens that it takes a few seconds after I close a window before the breeze that came in before I did makes something move.

Sereenie

Corrected entry: When Bridget is talking to Mark about prison in Thailand she says that she was imprisoned over smuggling cocaine. Thailand doesn't produce cocaine, that comes from Latin America. No one smuggles cocaine out of Thailand. Virtually all cases similar to Bridget's involve heroin.

Correction: Bridget doesn't know a thing about drugs. She's probably like me and wouldn't know the difference between the two and keep confusing them, especially being as nervous as she is about her situation.

Sereenie

Well it could have been just the guy having some coke for personal usage that he got Bridget in trouble for. Smuggling drugs doesn't have to be on a large scale. I am sure you can buy some coke in Thailand too. Drugs are everywhere. He had mushrooms too, so he probably was travelling with stuff from London. I'm watching now for the 3rd time or so so will pay more attention and she if they mention the quantity of cocaine.

National Treasure (2004)

Corrected entry: When Mason is in the Bell Tower trying to find the answer for the clue, 2:22pm, the shadow points to a certain brick at that time. 2:22pm in June would show the shadow at a different angle than it would in October. How did they know what time of year the clue was taken from?

Correction: The shadow didn't show a specific brick, but a specific wall. When Ben got there, he knew which brick was important because it had the Free Masons' mark on it.

Freaky Friday (2003)

Corrected entry: At the beginning in the Chinese restaurant, Anna runs into the toilets and locks the door, leaving Tess out. They crack open their fortune cookies, read them and feel the earthquake. When they get to the table, they ask Harry, Ryan and Grandpa about the earthquake. They all claim that they felt nothing. At the rehearsal dinner, after Tess's speech, there is another earthquake. Everyone in the room feels it this time.

Correction: In the first scene, both Anna and Tess were in different rooms than everyone else; the effect was felt only where the both of them were. In the second one, they're with the crowd, so everyone feels it.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Lester (the cop) comes back to the shed where he's staying with Kathy, he's obviously just come back from work and leaves right after that to go to see his wife and kids. Then when Kathy goes into her trunk, she finds his police belt and gun. Why did he put his equipment in her trunk? They have no contact with each other between these two scenes, so he couldn't have given these things to her.

Correction: Lester went to work using Kathy's car (see the scene where his wife is trying to beat him up), so he probably took off his stuff and put it in its trunk after work, before coming back to the shack, and left it there.

Sereenie

Corrected entry: Anne wasn't Louis XIV's wife, but his mother. Louis XIV's wife was Maria Theresa.

Correction: The king in the movie isn't Louis XIV: it's Louis XIII, his father. So Anne of Austria is rightly called his wife.

The Last Samurai (2003)

Corrected entry: In Japanese culture, non-close friends and relatives are never referred to without showing them respect by adding "-san", "-sama", "-chan", "-kun" or "-sensei" to their names when mentioning them. Leaving these out (in most cases) would be extremely rude. However, when speaking in Japanese, Katsumoto and the others speak normally, but when speaking in English with Algren he does not use those at all. This continues even when Katsumoto has started to regard Algren as his equal. Please note that this is most likely a deliberate choice in order not to confuse the viewers who are unaware of this fact.

Correction: No, it only shows that Katsumoto is well-versed enough in Occidental culture that he knows that when speaking in English, one does never to add an honorific after names (unless you count calling someone "Mr. Whatever" a honorific). Only those Japanese who are not proficient in another language tend to still add the honorific.

Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)

Corrected entry: Moore says, "The plan to have Bush get out of the limo for the traditional walk to the White House was scrapped." But according to the BBC, "Mr. Bush delighted his supporters by getting out of his limousine and walked the last block of the parade, holding hands with his wife Laura."

Correction: The traditional walk is the whole way, not just the last block.

Fur and Loathing - S4-E5

Corrected entry: While discussing with Catherine the dead Furry in the road, Grissom uses the phrase "which begs the question ..." Begging the question has a very specific meaning in logical argument: to unjustly assume the truth of that which is being proved in the argument. It does NOT mean "causes the question to be posed." Someone as exacting and well-educated as Grissom would know this and would not misuse the phrase thus.

Rooster of Doom

Correction: As all language specialists will tell you, oral language evolves much faster than dictionaries do. It can sometimes be years before a new acception (or meaning) of a word or a phrase is added in language resources, even though it is widely used and understood by native speakers. The same goes for acceptions which go into disuse: they'll still be listed long after no one uses them. Nowadays, the first and most common meaning of "which begs the question" is the one for which Grissom uses it. It is not a mistake, only proof that Grissom is a man of his time.

The Hot Chick (2002)

Corrected entry: Near the beginning, Jessica (Rob) calls April on her cell phone to tell her to meet her after class. April is in the middle of class when she talks to Jessica on the phone, and is actually talking pretty loudly considering how quiet the classroom is. However, the students around her don't seem to hear her at all.

Correction: They hear her perfectly, they're just ignoring her, just as they would be ignoring her if she was just chatting with the student next to her.

Anastasia (1997)

Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the movie, after narrating the events of the revolution, separation from Anastasia etc., her grandmother concludes with ".. I never saw her again". But obviously she is eventually reunited with Anastasia (in the movie anyway).

Correction: This narration parallels the story. At the time the story starts (when Anya is at the orphanage), the Empress Dowager has not seen her granddaughter since those events, and doesn't know that she will see her again.

Corrected entry: A first aid station on a ship, like the one Sam was trying to open, should not be locked. First aid stations are designed to be as accessible as possible.

Correction: This is not a first aid station, it's an infirmary, which contains much more than what's needed to provide first aid. You wouldn't want the whole crew of the ship to have access to powerful, dangerous and possibly lethal material (if not used properly).

The Village (2004)

Corrected entry: It is odd that when Ivy stumbles from the woods onto the highway, that she shows no particular sign of fear, or even curiosity, about the vehicle that approaches her with its sirens wailing. You would think that the sound of the engine roaring, the smell of exhaust, etc. would at the very least startle her, as she has never encountered such a thing before.

Correction: She thought she had reached the city. She had never been to the city, nor to any city. She knew she would encounter things she had never encountered before. It did startle her and she is curious (thus her asking "What was that sound?"), but she expected to be surrounded by unfamiliar sounds and odours by the end of her trip.

Stargate (1994)

Corrected entry: Supposedly writing was outlawed because it would prevent the people from having any recollection of history. This totally ignores the idea of oral history, the mechanism used before the development of writing and still used today by Native American and African cultures. In Africa these people are called griots and can literally recite history for days without ever repeating themselves.

Phoenix

Correction: Ra may not have forbidden only writing, but also retelling about the past, which means oral history would be of no help. Furthermore, I doubt even the best of oral retellings could be efficiently transmitted after 3000 years. After all, what would *we* know of ancient Egypt, weren't it for hieroglyphs?

Along Came Polly (2004)

Corrected entry: When Polly calls Reuben back, he throws the answering machine against the wall. His message keeps going even after the wires are pulled out of the socket. (00:25:15)

NancyFelix

Correction: Some answering machines have backup batteries, so if the power goes out, they can still take messages. That is probably the case with this one.
