Marie Antoinette (2006)

Corrected entry: Marie-Antoinette's birthday is on November 2, but when they watch the sunrise, you can see spring wildflowers scattered all over.

Sereenie

Correction: There are several species of wildflowers that still bloom during autumn.

Corrected entry: Shouldn't the Mini-Shaguar, being an English spy's English car, have its steering wheel on the right? (00:59:20)

Sereenie

Correction: While it does appear to be on the left, there is only one seat, so there really is no right or left side. Even in right-hand drive cars the steering wheel is slightly to the left relative to the center of the driver's seat (to accommodate things like the air vent).

I, Robot (2004)

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie, Spooner turns on his CD player-ish thing and the music starts (timestamp at 0:00). Two or three seconds later (with no interruption in the music), the player is seen again, showing a timestamp of 10 seconds.

Sereenie

Correction: 8 seconds elapse from when Spooner hits play to when we see the music player with the timestamp (not 2 or 3 seconds). When we first see the timestamp, it reads 0:08, then continues to count up to 0:10, but we see it go from 0:08 to 0:09 then to 0:10.

Hysterical Blindness - S4-E5

Corrected entry: Peter "catches" Emma's ability and loses his speed ability when he touches her, to keep her from being hit by the bus. Yet in one of the previous episodes, he shook hands with Samuel without losing his ability and gaining Samuel's.

Sereenie

Correction: Peter did not know that Emma had an ability, therefore did not harness his own ability. When he shook hands with Samuel, he was aware there were specials around so made a conscious error to "turn off" his ability. Notice at the end of the series, when he was also consciously aware, he did end up taking Samuel's ability.

ctown28

Corrected entry: On the opera house's rooftop, Christine, sick with worry and fear, decides to run away with Raoul right after the performance so that he can hide and protect her from the Phantom, and tells him to prepare his horses so they can leave right away. Then nothing happens. We're brought three months forward to the masquerade and no mention is ever made again of what happened to change their minds and why they did not run away. If she is scared enough to want to run away right away, not even waiting until the next day to pack her things, there is no way that she'll feel comfortable and safe enough to come back within a mere three months. While in the stage show, that was due to the hubbub surrounding the chandelier crashing, that event was pushed back later in the movie, leaving a gaping hole in the plot.

Sereenie

Correction: Nothing suggests that they didn't run away and then return three months later. There could be any number of reasons; Raoul doesn't believe in the Phantom at this point so perhaps he was able to persuade Christine to come back with him. Maybe Christine felt safer once she and Raoul were engaged. No one at the opera has heard from the Phantom for some time so they asked Christine to attend the Masquerade. Audiences would be anxious to hear Christine perform again so maybe that would be enough of a draw to prompt her to return.

V for Vendetta (2005)

Corrected entry: The mouse hole in which Evey finds Valerie's message is (when standing in the doorway) on the right side of the cell. But when Evey gets out, we see that her cell (number 5) is the last one of the left row, meaning there only is a full wall to its right, with cell number 4 to its left (which is consistent with what we we see in the doctor's memories). Thus, the hole does not link cell 5 to cell 4 (Valerie's). Since V took the time to recreate Larkhill, and wants Evey to live through exactly the same experience he has, there is no reason why he wouldn't recreate everything as it originally was. Plus, as previously said, his underground setting corresponds to the doctor's memories.

Sereenie

Correction: All we ever see of Larkhill cells in the doctor's memories is a hall with doors. Pretty typical of most detention facilities. And just because that hallway ends with Evey's cell, or V's cell at Larkhill, doesn't mean that's the edge of the building. There could be another cell on the opposite side of that wall with a seperate hallway because they're seperate cell blocks for a seperate type of inmate. Also, V does not even remotely attempt to recreate his own experience at Larkhill as Evey was not used as a lab rat, injected with diseases so potential cures could be tested on her. Basically, it's never explicitly stated in the film which cell housed Valerie, and even if it did plainly state she was in Cell IV, it's still not a mistake for V to slip the note in the way he did.

Phixius

Corrected entry: If Gustav Daaé died leaving his daughter in utter poverty, why is he buried in the largest mausoleum (which, presumably, cost the most) in the cemetery? It can't be a family mausoleum, since he's Swedish, not French, and the only reason Christine remained in France is because he died.

Sereenie

Correction: No-one in the movie says anything about "utter poverty", that's an assumption. Christine might have inherited some money from him, and besides, at the time most succesful artists had patrons in the form of admirers. One of these might have been a big enough admirer of Daaé to have paid for a grand mausoleum, as a tribute.

Twotall

Corrected entry: When the helicopters are flying over Scotland and through the eye of the storm, the temperature is cold enough to freeze fuel in the pipes and tanks. Yet the pilot takes a good five seconds to open the window, and then freezes. Logically, anything cold enough to freeze fuel should not have given him that long. Fuel has a much lower freezing point than the human body. Plus, fuel pipes, even though metal, are usually in an area hotter than the cabin, since the engines are running there, generating heat. Even with the added padding of a coat, a body just could NOT have taken longer than fuel to freeze. The pilot should not even have had time to reach for the window before freezing, let alone to open it and then wait a good five seconds to do so.

Sereenie

Correction: The fuel in the tanks did not freeze instantly. It took the entire length of the scene. Remember, they began having problem (presumably when the fuel began to crystalize) and continued to fly for several seconds before the engines stopped.

Not What It Looks Like - S3-E2

Corrected entry: They manage to identify the African blood diamond dealer by analysing his coat seam’s wear pattern using video surveillance footage. Problem is, in the US Customs footage, they take the seam on the left of his back and in the jewellery store's footage, the seam on the right. There is no way they could match the wear pattern of two different seams.

Sereenie

Correction: The seam in question is in the middle of his back. The only difference in the two pictures is that the diamond dealer is leaning in different directions in each picture. The real problem with this scenario is whether the definition on the surveillence video from both souces is of high enough quality to even make this comparison. That is something of a stretch.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Corrected entry: The first movie established that Peter was mutated with spider DNA, that the changes in him were at a molecular level. Considering this, even a high level of stress should not be able to reverse a change that was imprinted in is own DNA marking. We're not talking insomnia or losing balance here (which *can* be caused by stress): saying that he lost his eyesight, his little grabbing hairs and his web-making capacities is like saying that because I'm stressed, my eyes will change colors, my arms will fall off or I'll stop salivating. All at once. Just not possible.

Sereenie

Correction: As the doctor explains, Peter's problem is psychological. Think of it like a major league baseball player who's so stressed out he loses his confidence in himself and can't home runs anymore. His body hasn't changed, but it can't perform for him as well b/c of mental problems.

Corrected entry: The letter adressed to new Hogwarts students reads they may bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad. How come Ron can bring a rat? (00:18:35 - 00:36:15)

Sereenie

Correction: They actually only showed the letter to Harry. The others may have been different. Or, since Ron was a legacy and Scabbers was a hand-me-down pet, they made an exception to the rule (as they did many times in the film) And, according to the book, there were other pets at the school besides owls, toads, and cats. At least one other student had a spider.

Titanic (1997)

Corrected entry: When they first uncover the drawing and are cleaning it, Brock compares it to a photograph of 'The Heart of the Ocean'. This could not have been a color photograph of a necklace that had been missing since 1912. Color photographs dating from around 1910 were VERY grainy and had little depth and contrast. This picture is obviously in a circa 1930s post art deco style.

Sereenie

Correction: He never has a colour photo, all ones of the necklace are black and white, possibly with a slight sepia tinge.

Corrected entry: While the Japanese twins' names are pronounced about right, they would never be spelled the way they are on the bags, as Japanese cannot end syllables with a consonant (except n). They should be written Fukumi and Fukuyu.

Sereenie

Correction: In a deleted scene, we learn that the twins aren't really Japanese - they're called Cindy and Sally. They might not know how to spell Japanese names in English.

The Simpsons (1989)

A Streetcar Named Marge - S4-E2

Corrected entry: When the producer asks the auditioning men to take off their shirts, he says, using French, 'Déshabillez votre chemise,' which is blatantly wrong, as it means 'Undress your shirt' instead of 'Take off your shirt.'

Sereenie

Correction: The producer is a pretentious fool. He probably can't actually speak French (at least not fluently), he is just trying to appear sophisticated. It is in keeping with the character that he would get the phrase wrong, and this was very possibly intentional.

Memento (2000)

Correction: This was not actually an error but was intentional. At a website about this movie it explains this and other things about the movie. "A hint by Director Nolan that Memory is unreliable and that we are dealing in this movie with an unreliable narrator. As Lenny puts it: "Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They're just an interpretation, they're not a record, and they're irrelevant if you have the facts." For more about this fascinating movie go to: http://www.christophernolan.net/memento.php.

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the movie, in the plane, you can see the green screen reflected in Hanratty's glasses while he is talking to Frank.

Sereenie

Correction: What causes the green light in Hanratty's glasses is actually an anti-reflection coating on his lenses, which many people have on their spectacles. Any bright lights are deflected slightly, so as not to blind the wearer too much (particularly useful when driving at night, for example) - but the reflected light shows up on the outside of the lenses as green. If you look carefully, you can actually spot this on people's glasses in loads of films and TV shows. But I don't know if the anti-reflection coating was available in the 60's, when the movie was set, so it may be a mistake that Hanratty's glasses have it at all. But I'm not sure. Was that exhaustive and tedious enough for you?

Gaz

Corrected entry: After Sam slides down the hill in front of the gate to Mordor, he ends up half-buried. Frodo goes and pulls him almost all the way out, but in the next shot, Sam is still buried.

Sereenie

Correction: Since he could not get him out completely, Frodo stops pulling and Sam slides back in again. That's when Frodo decides to use the cape.
