Factual error: Tom Hanks is driving his car over a bridge in downtown Chicago in 1931. In the background is the elevated train structure. An aluminum bodied train passes on the trestel in the background. This aluminum bodied train is of 1980's contruction. In the 1930's the train cars were of wood construction and painted brown. They were still in service in the 1950's.
Visible crew/equipment: When Xander and Yelena are in the restaurant and they are shown through the window from outside you can see the reflection of a film crew member in the window. (01:04:35)
Continuity mistake: When surrounded by police and a garbage truck, Frank drives his car from the overpass onto the passing transport trailer below, then lands behind a hatchback and in front of two cars - a white compact with a sunroof and a grey hatchback. In one specific shot from atop the trailer, as Frank rolls his window down (before he requests the gun) the only vehicle behind Frank's car is the white compact, which is at the trailer's rear. Note things such as the trailer's safety bars, and the view through the compact's windshield for starters. That grey hatchback is back when the ramp is lowered, for the ensuing crashes. (00:08:20)
Other mistake: The first time the cops come to the house, Connie and her son see them from the upstairs window, and start walking downstairs. It then cuts to the cops in the living room looking around, and Connie walks in and introduces herself. Her husband is not home, so did the cops just walk into in the house without knocking?
Suggested correction: I'm pretty sure the housekeeper let them in if you listen carefully.
Other mistake: Even though it is snowing throughout much of the movie, none of the snow seems to stick to any of the characters' fur. Even during the fight scene when they are rolling around in it, they are never covered with white.
Factual error: After the intruders flood the panic room with propane, Jody Foster's character gets a lighter and ignites the propane causing it to burn along the ceiling. This would be impossible as propane is heavier than air and would sink to the floor rather than rise up to the ceiling. Lighting a flame in that room should have caused anyone in the room and on the floor to be engulfed in flames almost instantly.
Character mistake: When Stuart calls home from the pay phone he's talking into the wrong end of the phone.
Continuity mistake: At the "Big Pipe" contest the star gets trapped under water when her leash gets caught on some rocks. You see her undo the velcro on her ankle and then abandon the board (with the leash attached). About 20 seconds later when she is diving below the oncoming waves you can clearly see the leash re-attached to her ankle.
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film, on the train ride out of the Hive, Rain is quite close to becoming undead. When she speaks, we notice her teeth are still "movie-star white". However, a few shots later, when she becomes a zombie, she sort of hisses where you can see it has taken what couldn't have been more than a few mere minutes for her teeth to become brown and discolored. Visible crew/equipment: When Officer Romero and Arthur are alone in the house, handcuffed to the brass shelving unit, as she says, "Help me or I will crush you like a damn bug," a crewmember wearing glasses and a blue shirt is seen crouching on the floor, at the bottom right of the screen. Factual error: On the plane, while being escorted by FBI agents, Frank Jr sees New York's LaGuardia Airport and says, "There it is, LaGuardia Airport, runway 44." A runway numbered 44 is impossible. No runway can be numbered over 36 because there are 360 degrees in a circle. (01:58:25)
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie during the skateboard scene with Shaggy and Scooby riding along the conveyor belt, Scooby grabs a hook and both Shaggy and Scooby jump off of the skateboard. You see the skateboard falling off the conveyor belt, but in the next scene it is on the conveyor belt and being crushed. (00:03:20)
Continuity mistake: Toward the beginning of their drive, while the girls are singing "Bye, Bye, Bye" the position of the window behind Mimi keeps changing. Sometimes it is all the way up, then it is part-way down, then back up again.
Continuity mistake: A group of Marines approaches a minefield and one of them falls with his back on a mine. The explosion throws him in the air and you can see his uninjured back. Not even his shirt got a scratch. (01:46:50)
Continuity mistake: During the scene when Mr. Devlin is in De L'Air, the bug store, the eyes of the young black woman with whom he is speaking change back and forth from blue-gray to brown. (00:15:18)
Factual error: In the movie, prom happens during the end of the film. The movie spans the length of a week, yet we see that Jessica's boyfriend in the movie (Matthew Lawrence) is still having football practice. The high school football season ends months before prom. If it was supposed to suggest they are having spring practice, then he's not even supposed to be practising since he's a senior.
Factual error: When they first pick up the Mona Lisa, they show the back. There you can see a canvas sheet over a wooden framework. However, the Mona Lisa is painted directly onto wood, no canvas at all. The scan they run even says it's painted onto wood, despite visual evidence to the contrary. (00:06:35)
Revealing mistake: When Bert is running in the woods, away from the local guys, he rubs blood on a tree to make them believe he ran a certain way. Look close, the tree already has red tint on it probably from previous takes that didn't wash off. (01:04:35)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Eddie Murphy's character is trying out for the cop show. While arguing with the man trying out as chief, Eddie Murphy slams his hands on the table. When he does this, and throughout the scene, his gun holster and shoulder straps are clearly visible. But after he slams his hands down, and the camera cuts to the directors of the show and then back to Eddie, the holster is gone. The camera then cuts back to the directors and then to Eddie a second time, and the holster is back.
Deliberate mistake: At the beginning and especially at the end, Julianna Margulies spends extensive time in the ocean, wearing nothing but cargo pants and a T-shirt. Considering the movie takes place just off the Bering Strait, wouldn't she have quickly frozen to death? (01:21:05)
