Other mistake: At one stage the Angels speak with each other in a different language, so that the people sitting next to them wouldn't understand. Having listened to it for a few times, I realized it was Finnish. Funny though, the thing they actually said there (in Finnish), was totally different than the written translation. (00:41:45)
Other mistake: When Russell Hammond goes to William's house he spots a professional photo of William and his sister Anita. The photo shows William as a 15 year old with his sister. But Anita has been away working as a stewardess, and has not seen William since he was 11 - who was played by a younger and different actor in those scenes.hcherri1
Other mistake: Early in the film, Valerie Barksdale (Hillary Swank) visits Annie Wilson (Cate Blanchett) for a psychic reading. Valerie has been severely beaten by her husband, and her badly black and blue eye is swollen shut. A day or two later she visits Annie again. Amazingly her eye appears to have completely healed, even though the other marks on her face are still visible.
Other mistake: When Tom Hanks cuts his hand and loses his temper, he picks up the volleyball with a bloody hand and throws it. When he picks it up, you can see that his fingers are spread. When you see the handprint that he makes "Wilson" with, you can see that the fingerprints are together and parallel.
Other mistake: During the ending scene, when Samuel L. Jackson is walking away from the camera across the lawn, he passes directly between the platoon on the right practicing rifle drill, and the platoon leader giving them orders. Marines are taught to NEVER do this. It is called "breaking ranks", and a Colonel in the Marine Corps would have known this.mrseven
Other mistake: When Reinaldo first meets Lezaro Lima after winning "First Honorable Mention" for the National Book contest, Lezaro tells Reinaldo he can read any five books he wants. Lezaro names titles of books he'd like Reinaldo to read. The subtitle in English on the U.S. region DVD misspells Robert Louis Stevenson, spelling his middle name "Lewis". (00:32:05)
Other mistake: In the scenes after Giovanni Ribisi is arrested, his looks are constantly changing. In scenes where he is talking to Vin Disel his face is very fat. When he walks by Abby's desk he is thin again. If you get Boiler Room on DVD you'll see an original ending where Ribisi is thin all the way through the end of the movie; Because Giovanni was preparing for a film that required him to gain 30 something pounds, the scenes that needed to be reshot for a different ending are very defined.
